I am assuming that scum WILL know each other AFTER the roles have been assigned as to not affect their votes. It makes much more sense that both sides' role-choosing system is affected.

I think you need to reread my posts ivory. I already covered the hated bit in a different post than the one you quoted. What that post was meant to cover is that how many people did choose power roles determines their effectiveness. More roles = weaker roles, and if we see bad/weak roles, then we can pretty safely say claiming some amazing role would be suspicious. I'm not really sure how else to word what I'm trying to convey there. In fact, I'm not sure why you think I think everyone is hated, because that's not what my posts have said at all.
Pretty much what ivory said on the scum question. Now that we have roles, they likely know who each other are. They usually do day 1, minus that one odd game we played and scum self destructed as a result.
I could go into my reads...except I don't really have any yet. Psy tends to be an impossible read for me, piano is looking pretty standard but worth noting that scum piano does tend to be more aggressive. PA is a wait and see for me because of his claim. Liberty being for no lynch is pretty standard and then emily hasn't really said enough for me to have a real grasp there. New players haven't said much yet, and I dislike lynching new players day 1 either way because they are usually null tells because learning the game.

And why would you even want to continue in that train of conversation? Discussing how many of us wanted NV roles is fruitless because we only have little information out rn + it's STILL DAY 1 AND SCUM CAN SAY WHATEVER THE HELL THEY WANNA SAY..!! It literally IS POINTLESS to focus on debating one's "roles' 'effectiveness'. Should have chosen a wiser tangent.
And also going by your train of thought about revealing "weak" roles and shit is BS because getting town to reveal their "weak" roles only, ONLY, benefits scum in avoiding which town to kill/lynch. It's useful knowledge for late game, and it generates discussion for day 1. Knowing that if one townie has a weak role, then they are all weak could be relevant. We've lost games to cave claiming pazuzu, and to games where jeroen claimed his whole moon cycle role, so yeah, its useful knowledge in the event someone makes up some amazing role late game.
Also, I never said we should claim. Role claims do tend to happen as the game progresses however, so we should factor this in when choosing to believe the claim. All I'm saying is that one weak role for town likely means all weak roles going by the way the rules are phrased, and we shouldn't trust anyone who claims otherwise.

I agree with Ivory that we should just abandon that line of thought. At least until day two. I can tell you right now that any info that we might find useful, scum will also find useful. As to the whole demonlord==scum thing, I'm going to say this:
Demonlord always hard reads scum to me. Without exception. Always on days that end in Y. Demonlord has never not read scum to me, especially on day one. I can also not recall a time in which he has ever actually been scum (my memory isn't perfect, now. I might be forgetting a game or two). He always reads scum to me, and he always flips town. Now, maybe this is the game where he's playing scum, but I no longer trust any of my reads on him, and I'm not going to vote for him on day one unless there's a train on him.

I'll fully admit I'm terrible at day 1s though. I always end up trying to discuss the game mechanics in an attempt to generate discussion, only to always make myself look scummy while doing it. I don't know if I should give up talking mechanics day 1s or what I need to do to fix it.

I can't really recall his play-style in the previous games but there's a huge difference of continually and intentionally dragging townies on the wrong path vs, example: cave's "volatile-ness"

I haven't updated that profile in so long lol. I'm really good at testing games, but I also haven't been playing rmn games nearly as much as I used to.
Anyways yeah it really isn't deliberate. The knowledge seems like it could be useful to me, but I'll stop with that since it's going nowhere.

re:piano I guess it could make sense to interpret "mislynch" as "PA has exposed a weakness to scum" vs a knowledge slipup but I'm okay with where my vote is for the time being.
@KF: there's usually a grace period for anyone with a useful role to claim it before the final vote is cast, and theoretically avert their death.
@AE: My intention was to say that no one should be responding to PA's call to state if they were Hated and therefore non-vanilla.

I also finally worked out the willpower to read tales posts...I think he wants us to play extremely risky and confirm vanilla by putting them one post away from lynch...I think?
If he wasn't new I'd probably lynch just from how bad that plan is. We will be able to judge if a hated likely exists based on the roles of people that die anyways.

I really don't think demonlord is scum, this looks to me a lot like how he was in the last game.
I feel less sure about everyone else. Piano's mislynch comment doesn't really seem too suspicious to me, more like just talking about someone he suspects is town as thought they are town. I also don't feel like Psy's posts are the smoking gun Piano is making them out to be.
I don't feel great about PA calling for people to claim quickly though. His claim still is a little suspect to me, in part because he claimed the only role mentioned in the rules (could be a coincidence), and also because he then started talking about how he thought he might be the only hated in the game, almost giving himself an out in case others came forward with positive/neutral roles.

Well, no, it's not anything he specifically says in the posts. It's the way they feel, you follow? As someone who has actually played mafia in several teams with psy, these just feel like scum psy to me. Psy's usually unreadable to me. I don't know, maybe I'm just overreacting to him because I'm actually reading scum from them, but I don't think I am. As Leslie Nielson said in Naked Gun, "Feminine intuition."
