LockeZ

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Feld your sarcasm detector is broken, you need to get it repaired
Create Food is a third level Cleric spell. Any city worth a shit gotta has a level five guy devout somewhere. BAM all the food you need.
Or find old junk food and cast Purify Food on it. That's a level zero Cleric spell. I didn't even know divine magic went that low.
And the toilet answer is pisspots. The answer is always pisspots. Another reason major cities are located near rivers!

author=Link_2112This will actually be my first attempt to create a (balanced) RPG game. It started as a test in the 20xx engine and snowballed. It's based heavily on the game mechanics of FF11 with sprites from all FF games converted down into Gameboy style graphics.
Started working on this project last week :3
I love it! FFL2 only really had one big flaw, the leveling system, ugh!
Part of the second area of Zirac Kingdom.

One of the custom maps made. That Arena and desert looking place in the far east of the
map has been moved updated. Don't worry about that

author=benosThat map background is very low-quality.

True, some of are chipset placements though.
I understand the placement below the arena kind of conflicts over in the water.
Just want to lessen the chipset use.

Benos, I think the towns on your world map need to be brown with black lines, to match the map itself. Try reducing the entire tileset to grayscale, and then tinting it brown. Either that or just use dots to represent each location.
Mikemc, I have no idea what that is supposed to be but I think you need some mapping help. If you're just starting out, try basing your maps off of existing maps from commercial games. Not literally tile-for-tile, but look at commercial maps and see what they did and try to figure out why they did it, and then try to do basically the same thing.

You don't read before you comment, do you...? -.-
It's supposed to be a joke.
I suppose you should take a look at his (numerous) other works before you comment there's something wrong with his mapping.

Well, his comment could have any number of meanings, it doesn't necessarily mean that all the problems with the map were intentional. I would rather give people the benefit of the doubt and try to help them than assume every bad map is supposed to be bad and thereby leave them unaided.
Besides, the whole purpose of this topic is to tell people how to improve their maps.

The rpgmaker actually renders the blocks too squarish for this concept to work properly. The above image's height was compressed by 10%. The shading needs work too.
author=Jonnie91Is the ledge getting taller without a noticeable difference?
Here is a map from the first scene in my VX game: Elemental, using tilesets from Hanzo Kimura:

Otherwise I think the ledge at the lowest part of the screen should be 1 tile tall as the rest or vice versa and it will all look okay.
author=Zephyrauthor=Jonnie91EDIT: Right I think I understood what you meant:

This better?
Mining with no clothes on? Did somebody bury his pants?
It's hard to comment on because it isn't evident what the objective is.

It's a mining minigame. There are 3 types of metal: gold, silver and bronze. Your goal is to hit sequences of the same type of metal. When you hit a tile, you start a sequence. Sequences of at least two give you scores. The longer the sequences, the more points you get. Gold is worth more than silver, silver more than bronze. When you hit a tile, it disappears and the entire row falls down. So basically you can only hit the tile to your right, to your left, or above you. It's a minigame that will function as the main character's job.
Oh, that tool icon shows how many tiles you can hit before you need to start over.
