GO MAKE ME A SANDWICH: SEXUALITY IN BAYONETTA (AND OTHER GAMES)
Posts

@Kindredz: u mad bro?
u jelly? You'll spend 10 extra minutes.
Anyway, video games are guy games. So your prepared to see large boob action.
DOA has a lot of that.
Seeing as Jade Raymond has owned the company to make games, without trying to be a new stereotype because she's a woman and what not. And having to deal with suing some erotic comic that her doing dirty things to some nerds. Though the comic was funny as well. "BUY MY GAME" as one of the nerds looked similar the xbox kid, getting a fellatio.
That is all, I don't want to go too far R 18.
author=EmanziYou're right. But nobody actually read your posts or even made a comment on them. This conversation goes on and on and nobody gives a fuck until some admin/moderator of this site is going to close this thread.
This argument is endless

maybe you should stop posting on an internet forum
I couldn't be bothered to read the blog so I guess I should have kept out of this in the first place.
And yes maybe I should find something more useful to do but here I am as usual...
I should really learn to say one sentence answers and not care, like.
Tits are cool. (-_-)
well i try not to dwell on how "bad" the current situation is because it's just the way things are and look at the bright side there are always at least a few normal female characters created by men like Samus, Jade, Iji, etc
so i was just going to make some asinine comments about "oh um perhaps it would help a little if there were more female game producers who can do what they like, look at Phantasy Star, that was a cool game produced by a woman with a normal female lead character" and "oh look Bulletstorm was produced by a female, isnt that cool" but then i read the top comments on a video of an interview with that producer, Tanya Jessen and it kind of put me in a bad mood and
i hate this world guys i really do

Fun fact: this is NSFW, and you should read it if you're posting in this topic.

it is a known fact that youtube has the most retarded comments on the internet.
just today i installed a greasemonkey script that hides youtube comments. it is astounding how helpful that simple barrier is. on occasion, i'll go to click the hide link (if i'm curious for some reason) and before i get to the link i'm like naaaaaaah
nothing good ever came from reading youtube comments. did youtube comments put a man on the moon (i ask you this one question)?????
on topic: this is not related directly to games (it's about comics) but is a good read nonetheless.
also girl wonder is a great forum that talks about this kind of stuff pretty frequently!
Slight Derail:
How did Tanya Jessen get her job? I don't mean to insinuate she doesn't deserve it, I just mean, how did she get it? Like, I'm not being misogynistic, this is more about her age than her gender. She's like, in her early 30s at most, since she graduated college in 2002 with a BA in freaking political science (which according to my friend with a degree in political science is exactly as useless as a degree in creative writing) and six years later she's producing GoW 2?
Am I the only person who thinks that's nuts!

I think gamefaqs did a poll not to long ago about whether or not your a girl or boy and the outcome was 1 girl for every 9 guys. I think the gaming industry is marketed mainly towards men and as a man I like my video games sexed up, so I don't see what's wrong with giving me what I want. Sure their creating unrealistic images of woman, but that doesn't really hurt anyone. As long as men like sex they will always want woman, even if their not as sexy as some of the video game characters.

Producers are hired usually for their team management experience, rather than their programming or art/compsci saavy. In a studio system they end up being people managers in the production process, more than anything else. So a PolySci degree might not be a bad asset to have, in that case.
I wouldn`t mind oversexualized women in games or media in general, if we could se the same for guys, I believe in equal treatement.
The difference is that while women don't really care much about women being oversexualized in games, men definitely don't like oversexualized male characters in their games, I think it has to do with a much bigger subject that involves general male sexuality, and our own insecurities. Men are taught to run away from a sexualized male, becuase otherwise they would be considered gay, and that's completely stupid, I mean one thing is to not be attracted to another guy, and a different thing is to not being able to look at one. Women can hold eachothers' hands, say how pretty they think the other one are, and they are not considered gayer for doint it. But because guys don't allow themselves to do that because they fear they might be considered gay (and probably would) they reject any form of closer contact, and for the same reason they would run from a game with a sexualized male character.
ON the other hand I'm a gay male speaking so my view might differ form yours, but I'm pretty sure about what I'm saying. I don't like women sexually, but I don't run away from a vagina picture, but I've seen men run away like children when a shirtless man appears, it's really weird.
