Funny enough, I didn't discover it until I knew plenty about the rest of the program XD Before then, I just made them from scratch. It is quicker, if only barely. And like I said, it's me being really lazy XD

If you don't want the sound effect there's no reason to use the quick event creation. All it does is create two event commands, a teleport and a sound effect. Useless.

Saves you looking for the teleport command amongst the events. If you're not using common events like Craze indicated, I find it easier to quick create a Teleport event and delete the Move SE, or change it to whatever, otherwise I forget something crucial like setting the event to Player Touch. "3 clicks, DEL and 1 click" (quick event) is quicker than "9 clicks" (manual insertion).

Although copy/pasting a previous teleport (1 key combo, 6 clicks) is comparable.

It doesn't even create a round trip, not that I'd trust it to know where to put the return teleports.

Also, wait, what's a round trip?

I'm thinking about a Legend of Zelda game set in World War II. Ganondolf Hitler would obtain the triforce of power and would use it to subjugate Germany under Nazi rule. Princess Hilda of the German royal family, who was sent off to attend school in England, would be the holder of the triforce of wisdom; Hitler's forces would stop at nothing to obtain it. It would be up to a green beret named Link to use his arsenal of gadgets to rescue the princess and save the world.

Guest appearance by Theodore Roosevelt, riding Epona into battle, where he takes out hundreds of nazi soldiers with his bare fists.

This idea is so stupid and I have to make it now.

By the way, I just tried this thing where every time you kill an enemy during battle, you hear Applause1 sound effect. (crowd cheering)
There is a drawback however, this doesn't work on the last enemy killed. It just immediately cuts to the Victory music.
Wait, does victory music mean there is no way to keep music going through an entire level? Even if I set battle music to 'none' the victory music will still interrupt it. The only solution is to take victory music out for the entire game..

EDIT: That picture of Link is damn impressive. It really does look WW2-ish.

You can change the victory music with an event command, just like you can change the battle music. Set it to the same music that was playing during the battle and on the field, and it'll continue uninterrupted. Then you can change it back to normal after the scene is over, if you want.

I'm considering a gameplay system where each level is a single event that has you automatically running into battles. If you die you go back to the beginning. If you win, you proceed to the boss.
EDIT: I see there is a way to set move routes for currently non-active events. As for making them disappear after the battle to signify that you've defeated them, I guess I can use global switches for that.
Hi, I am working on an Rpg maker game in RM2k. I read somewhere that it is illegal to make games with RM2k and distribute it. I am not trying to sell the game for money or anything. I am just wondering if I should just quit working on it because it might cause me problems with legal issues later?

It is illegal, as the English version of RM2K is free to download while the original version is paid software. However, I don't think anyone has ever actually been arrested for using it, so you should be alright.

As long as you don't want to sell the game for money, I wouldn't worry about it.


What Sated said. It's better to mak gam and lose than to never mak gam at all.
Going to rewrite the whole of Tristian's plot based off The Anarchy with some Arthurian/Welsh mythologies thrown in ( and maybe a hint at Tristan and Isolde ).
