RTP EXPANSION MAY BE REQUIRED: http://rapidshare.com/files/419850720/RTP2.rar.html

-=Staff=-
Programming, mapping, and story: Deckiller
Graphics and overall influence: Kentona, Mitsuhide, Zeph
Music selection: Deckiller, Edchuy, Dezz123, Orpheus
Characterization: The entire RMN community

-=Overview=-
Legend of Denadel was my third project; the demo was created in 2010 after playing Hero's Realm and getting to know the insanely active RMN community of the era. After amassing about 2,000 downloads, I took down the demo. I reposted it fairly recently.

The inspiration for this "semi-community game" came from my playthroughs of Hero's Realm and Final Fantasy VI Advance, and also from my work on the Ultima Island community game.

Most of the graphics will be RTP or RTP-oriented; however, I plan to use smaller sprites and classic side-scrolling enemy graphics, like most old-school RPG Maker games.

Gameplay will be classic side-scrolling ATB, though the DBS will be used to its fullest. That I can promise you. There will be a classic level-up system in this game, though I will be throwing some twists in. Dungeons will be a mix of puzzle-oriented and old-school romps.

-=Chapter 1=-

The Kingdom of Denadel is in turmoil! For the first time in a century, the Demons are on the offensive! Demon attacks have been reported in the area of the Wachenta Caverns, and the King of Denadel is extremely worried that it may be the sign of an mass global invasion. But the attacks have been minor thus far, and the King believes that nipping the source of the attacks in the bud will quell the threat before it truly begins. The King has a powerful weapon to cleanse the cave of any demons, but there's a problem.

Those who release the cave-cleansing weapon will almost surely die before escaping. It's a suicide mission!

Obviously this hasn't been worked on in ages.

Why hide the fact that it's been cancelled? It's 2018. These projects serve as stepping stones for us, and there's no shame in being honest. Sometimes we see them through to completion; other times things just don't work out. I bit off too much than I could chew as a naive 20 year old who was going to school full time AND working full time, and it just fizzled. The demo is pretty good, overall, if unpolished - but was this really going to turn into a 20 hour game?

I still think there is a market for a FF6 version of Hero's Realm, and I still want to reuse these maps, but it will be in a different context and a different medium. Legend of Denadel was a great learning process while I was a noob to RPG Maker and while I wish this project had done great things for the community it unfortunately was not meant to be.

To everyone who believed in me back then, I'm sorry I let you down when it came to completing some of my projects. Things just happened so fast and I ended up doing all sorts of other things in RPG Maker that I was never able to go back to my basic projects (this and Carlsev Saga II).

I'm basically dealing with the game on a chapter-by-chapter basis, so it will probably be sometime before I figure out a sprite. You'll most likely have the Paladin Cecil sprite.

I'll just take these:

Level 1: Cure I
Level 2: Awaken I
Level 5: Sight I
Level 6: Holy I
Level 8: Purify I
Level 12: Vox I
Level 13: Cure II
Level 15: Smite I
Level 18: Holy II
Level 20: Realize I
Level 22: Heal II
Level 25: Smite II
Level 27: Life I
Level 32: Cure III
Level 36: Holy III
Level 39: Recover
Level 41: Heal III
Level 43: Smite III
Level 48: Life II
Level 55: Divine Spirit

Actually, I'll learn Divine Spirit after my sidequest in Chapter 5. It fully heals the party, so this is my way of keeping it from being a gamebreaker.

By "fully heals the party", I actually mean it heals full HP/MP and cures every status ailment in existence, including death.

Mirage, I'll implement as much of that as I can. However, the stat system is a little different; most characters have identical stats, save for one or two (usually denoted as their passives). For instance, since you have MP bonus, you'll have a higher MP/MP growth than most characters. Your other base stats will be identical, except whatever is equipped. So, your magic will be higher anyway because of the robes and staffs you'll be equipping. Characters do not have any special resistance or weakness to elements, unless we equip you with a null-holy accessory.

Also, I'll be tweaking around the levels to fit with the overall balance of the game; levels may go over 50, or not even reach 40, depending on the flow in chapters 5 and 6.

Your manner of joining the party might collide with the storyline. The four power mages of the party (Mitsuhide, Dezz, you, and VideoWizard) are established mages from the Island of Mages.

I like that intro, but I can go with it only if I change the party setups. I'll move you to Chapter 2, Dezz to Chapter 4, and make Kentona the power mage of Chapter 2.

Thanks! If you'd like or have the time to write a detailed review stating what should be improved and what you liked, that would be awesome.

Sure, when I find the time I could give it a go, but It'll probably end up similar to Mitsuhide's review...
Mabye if you finish Chapter One (pressure!) I'd have new material to write about.
Oh, and I didn't find much I disagreed with in the demo so I don't really know what to suggest for improvements...
With the type of game it is I think you've done well!

P.S Don't wait for a review cause I'm a bastard and i'm very lazy!
But then again...one day in the forseeable future with nothing but moping to do, I may churn out a review...

If there was a bard class, I would demand to be it.
I know what you mean.Bards dont play the rules of a single class. They are like hibrids which are allowed to use skills from all kinds of classes.
(And are not restrained by their class's origins V_V).
<------ You don't have a Red Mage yet. *ahem*

But since you already reached your 16 character limit, make me a helpful NPC.
Someone who helps the party find a rare gam- err...I mean item (or weapon/armor).

Really? It's a RAR file, not a zip. I just tried unpacking it and it was fine.

This time I got it. Maybe the last download was corrupted or something- I use 7-zip to open RAR. I've started the game, and am enjoying it, though it would be nice if the battle sprites were consistent with those in the menu and field. I also offer my proofreading services if needed.

Actually I take my complaints back -It's very good and even though some of the tunes are old they grow on one. I'd suggest tweaking the loop in the boss theme however and using charaset versions of the torches so they can move.
Also if you need to do any image editing, pick up Irfanview+ irfanpaint and GiMP- the former can use most Photoshop plugins- and the latter can use abr. brushes.
