Reniat returns to her home village after years away at boarding school to find that the village is nearly deserted. The mine that the village depended on heavily for boosting its economy and tourism has been overrun by monsters and no one has bothered doing anything about it. Having trained as an adventurer, she decides to see what she can do about reviving the town and making a name for herself in the world.

Homework Salesman is a life simulation game with an emphasis on dungeon exploration, completing quests, crafting new equipment and items, and befriending the people in town. The game takes inspiration from the Rune Factory and Atelier series.

Features
  • Befriend each villager by talking to them every day and giving them gifts. Higher friendship levels allow you to learn each NPC's personal story and can also gain you access to new shop items, skills, hidden goodies, and more.

  • Unique items means that each item in the game is treated as a separate object. You can rename equipment, find rare versions of them, upgrade and repair them (weapons have durability), and even enchant them. You can have several iron swords each with different enchantments on them.

  • Six unique crafts: Cooking, Smithing, Tailoring, Enchanting, Alchemy, and Construction.

  • Quests are divided into two categories: story quests that propel your adventure forward, and side quests that are procedurally generated.

  • Features a world encounter system where you can find random events in field maps or dungeons, such as traveling merchants or a bandit who'll offer to spare you for money (or you can kill him)

  • Enemy encounters and (most) treasure chests are randomly placed on maps. You typically won't find the same monster encounter in the same dungeon spot every time. Treasure chest contents are randomly drawn from a pool of items appropriate for the zone you're in. You can also find unique weapons with randomized names, stats, and enchantments.

Update Log:
1/27/14 - v1.2
- The last two bosses in the game will now put up an anti-frazzle shield if they get hit successfully by frazzle three times. This shield will dissipate after 2 turns. Note that it doesn't count just frazzling the boss, it will count if you frazzle any boss minions in the fight.
- The Treasure Hunter couple will now appear in the ending cut-scene if you saw their world event.
- Fixed bugs related to Liffely's cooking delivery service.
- Fixed bugs related to the 2nd Colorous Cave quest.
- Fixed a bug where if you somehow manage to defeat the 3rd floor bosses on the same day as defeating Plutonus, the magic shop NPCs would not move into town.
- Added several easter eggs, most of which are references to early testers and other people in the community.
- You now get a quest telling you what to do next if you defeat a certain field boss after defeating the last boss of the Caves for the first time.
- Fixed cut-scene bugs related to the Westerlys move in quest.
- Fixed the Beer recipe so that it tells you that you learned how to make Beer instead of Cheese.

- Other miscellaneous bug fixes that I don't recall at the moment.

1/25/14 - v1.1d

Fixed an issue that could cause the party to spawn with you if you respawn from running out of AP. Fixed an issue that could cause Zathus's character event to not be turned off after completion. Added Battle4 bgm file to the Audio\BGM folder. Life Essence and Ressurect now have animations when used on party members.

So I was playing this game for 14 hours straight and forgot to eat lunch three times. I'm currently on day 42, level 10, fourth floor.

IT WORTH IT.
CCan I ask what's the flute for? I know it raise many stats, HP, MP, Mag, Luk, almost everything, and plus 3 attack each turn, but what else does it for? Will there be any skill for it in the future? What about the bards you met? Um, um, and one more questions! Does everytime your friendship level evolve, will there be a cutscene for it? (because Meracon wouldn't give a cutscene when I leveled his friendship to two :( ) (And Eagen on lvl 3) (Xebec lvl 3 too) I have some glitches I'd like to report, but I'm playing the 10j version, so I think it's all gone now. Thank you for this wonderful game, I especially love the 'no game over' concept, because I just hate seeing that screen, sometimes I think I have a game over phobia. And plus that SSP reference the merchant gave on the Colorus Cave. I gave a fangirl squeal. PEACE.

On Flutes: yes they have abilities but you have to find the person to sell them to you. Both of the available abilities are really nice but are also really expensive. Also Reniat seems to be the only one that can use them =\

On NPC levels: the dev team is finishing up a couple more events but almost everyone has events up to 3 stars as of version 1.0L, however some events are more subtle than others and require certain locations to trigger. Meracon's events are both weapon training for instance so check to see if you have had those. Xebec's 3 star isnt ready yet and Eagen's 3 star you must sleep in your bed before it will trigger.

On SSP: There is another SSP reference if you get a certain red haired girl's bond level to 3 stars "wink wink"

Red haired girl?!! :O *instantly click People button* ...I have no idea who... *sulk sulk*

I need to go to sleep? Eh, but I already did and nothing happened... Should've found this forum sooner, I'm already 86/240 points. *sulk sulk*

Now, if anyone can post a walkthrough for the 5th floor, I'll be forever grateful. The Groundshaker Bell isn't quite helping :( still fell into the traps no matter what... I'd like to report a glitch by the way (but maybe it's just me?), when you go to a workshop, and craft a shortbow, it'll only show 'Oak Log: 1' and an empty spot beneath it. I don't know if it's just me...

That should be fixed by the patches in the latest version. If it's not, you can PM me your savefile and I will fix it manually.

-Orange-red hair. You know like real-life redhead.

-Do you have the maid yet? You need her for the Eagen trigger I think. If you dont then you might want to PM Diedrupo about it and see if it is a bug.

-Ill explain how the bell works. The bell makes a ping sound when you are adjacent to a pitfall in square around you (north/south/east/left, NOT diagonals). When you hear the ping you pretty much have to use trial and error to navigate through there so make sure you dont try it at low AP. When you hear that ping stop and look at your current directions for a moment. You want to head east in the first room then head south eventually winding your path to the far north-east corner of the room. Always assume that you should take the most awkward path possible (the short paths are always pitfalls). Do keep in mind that there are some goodies in the room below the pitfalls if you have the patience to find them but most of them are on ledges so you have to fall in certain places to get them.

BTW guys I started the wikia for Homework Salesman but sadly have not gotten around to adding any actual content to it, however I wouldn't mind if any of you wanted to start adding your notes/infos to it:

I might look into adding skills and item info in the near future to the wiki. It would make this game even more impressive if RMN found out this game has a fully functioning wikia.

A wikia sounds like a good idea. I'm definitely contributing!
Hello! I've been playing this game pretty much nonstop for the past two days, I adore it. There's so much to do, and the graphics are lovely! The bosses are very funny, I really enjoy beating them. Also, the dialog in this game is very entertaining, I'm starting to feel like some of these NPCs are my actual friends which... probably means I need to get out more.

That said, I think I've run into a glitch; Bertram's been kidnapped and I'm trying to rescue him, and I've made it to the dragon statue (the one that Ankaba says has something to do with cooking) and triggered the Earth dragon appearing. However, when I triggered the statue initially I ran away and warped home because my weapons were broken and my HP was really low. Now when I return to the cave to fight the Earth dragon, it's stuck on top of a wall and I can't get to it. I've tried going to the dungeon again on a different day, with and without Ankaba in the party, and the dragon is still stuck at the top of the wall and won't fight me.

Ouch, that is indeed a bug.
Luckily, you can still keep going. That dragon is optional and just drops a recipe. We'll fix it for chapter 2 so you can backtrack to get him again.
Ah, okay! :) Thank you very much! I'll adventure onward!

-Nevermind, I already found it.

-Yeah, I know that, but I still fell and fell and fell. Because the bell only make sound when you're realllyyyy close. But I finally made it to Captain Colorus' room or whatever his name is and died. Damn that Falcon. Damn them. :(

-I can't get Meracon's second friendship scene, instead, I leveled him up to level 3, and I get a scene, and more skills, but what about the level 2 skills? Will the 2nd skills be there, too, even after I skipped it? :( Please help!

-I just realized both Zathus and Ankaba have green hair and red eyes.

Edit: and the armor 'Shiny Steelplate's Icon was a sword, not an armor. I thought it was kinda weird.
You get Meracon's second friendship scene automatically even if you haven't gotten him to 2 stars, so you probably already saw it (it unlocks him offering training).
By the way the pitfalls are permanent so when you come back on following days they will already be visible. Also its very unlikely to beat colorous on your first time through simply because of all the falling, poison and fighting. Its usually best to give the later bosses test fights because they employ a lot of advanced tactics and abilities.

I believe you're the same as I was. You gotta defeat Robert! He's not a sidequest as I thought.
