I updated this to a new version, version 1.5. It includes new animations, and merges the older content with the Release Something content. Fixed the core structure of the game to allow for new mechanics, which are coming next, thankfully. I need to introduce things like save crystals, creating shadow clones in adjacent squares where you may be teleported, finishing backgrounds, replacing or tweaking a couple of bad puzzles, and disabling the ability to teleport under an object if it is blocking the way. None of these are gamebreaking but they are possible improvements.

More importantly, though, I just want to finish this game, and that requires adding a lot more mechanics. I don't know how to structure the overworld, but I'm just going to opt for a "place puzzles anywhere" strategy, then lock the final gate up with a certain amount of pills that you need to collect, e.g. 10 out of 14. I hope this will make it feel like it's an achievement to have finished. I can't think of another way to salvage this project. It makes me feel like I'm not that great a developer.

So I need to structure this so that it feels more satisfying when you finish puzzles, but I don't want to pander with a needless "congratulations!" screen with balloons and confetti and brass fanfare. I have an idea for the ending but it might be too abstract and not satisfying. I need to develop the story more, but I don't know how to track a plot. I'm feeling not very confident on this one. At least it's an interesting experiment.

Thanks everyone for all your support. You're cool to me.

In the end, we'll all grow and evolve as we make our games. In the end, an imperfect game that you did your best with is still a million times better than a game that is never completed, in my personal opinion.

You have a ton of potential as a developer, and this is just one step on your path. You'll continue to improve. For now, just do you best, and I'm sure the result will be much better than you think. I often over-worry about how the finished project will turn out with my games, but too much of that can be paralyzing. Sometimes, you just have to Gam Mak your way to the end and take the lessons learned for your next project.

Anyway, I'm babbling now. What I meant to say is "Best of luck and I'm looking forward to the completed game!" :DDDDDDD

Dammit unity leave some of the inspirational messages for the rest of us. You cover everything I want to that it's all but impossible to follow up on!

In all seriousness, keep it up, man. You'll be fine. If you need some help with the plot, shoot me a PM and we'll have a talk. This game has some serious potential, but simply bringing a game to completion is a bigger accomplishment than an eternal perfect demo

Back in May I made a comment about the game in the main page, all I said still stands, it may be incomplete and a work in progress, but you nailed it!
I just tried the new demo for a bit and the new animations make it look even more appealing, it really adds to the game.

Don't be so hard on yourself, you'll get back to it when the time is right.

Thank you, iddalai. Your comment was one of the main inspirations for me to get back into it again. Historically, I've sometimes cringed when other developers complain about their lack of progress on a project, or a dissatisfaction with themselves, but I guess I also feel these things myself. The creative process can be quite difficult, can't it? I'm glad I have people that encourage me along the way. Thank you.

Wow! I'm honoured that my comment managed to inspire you to get back into Account Mu :)

Yup, the creative process can indeed be quite difficult, some days we just don't feel like doing it.

I don't know if this will help but I find that pacing myself helps:

Instead of getting all stressed because "I MUST finish my game and haven't worked on it today", I do something relaxing, play a game I like or watch a movie, something unrelated with the game, to take my mind out of it.

By taking this break I then regain my will to work on the game, if I don't do this I grow tired of the project, become frustrated and lose my will to work on it.

Other times I just chip away at it, little bits at a time, today I fix that tiny bug I found, tomorrow I only work on that background I need and take only 15 minutes, maybe I don't even finish it, so I'll do it the next day, the other day I add that small thing I had planned.

While chipping away, inspiration suddenly strikes!

I've noticed progress in my games this way.

Thanks iddalai. Your advice is much appreciated. I also feel kind of bad for exaggerating the situation regarding your RM Birthday event game. It wasn't even that bad, it was kind of good actually. Especially for a 5 hour game, sheesh. I didn't want to scare you away from the community or anything. I wish you all the best for your future endeavours!

Don't feel bad, I can see how my comments and game could be interpreted is other ways.
All the best for you too! :)

Yeah, I feel the same way, and a lot of that was my fault. I'm sorry, iddalai, I totally flew off the handle >.<;;
