“I want to return.”

Have you ever made a mistake you regretted so much that you wish it possible to turn back time? That memory will never release you from its agonizing grasp for the rest of your life. But even if the present gave you the privilege to relive the past, would you have the strength to confront it? Or would your sins damn you into oblivion?

In our remake of Castle Oblivion, we've done a complete overhaul: Story, Character Development, Maps, and Gameplay worthy of current RPG players. The Castle welcomes newcomers and old-timers alike. And if you played the original, you’ll definitely want to revisit the Castle again.

Story Synopsis:
Vincent and Azen, two knights stuck in the rain, discovered a strange Castle. Their host was gracious enough to offer permanent refuge by kidnapping Azen with an overwhelming power. Not wanting to be next, Vincent abandoned his friend. After drifting through decades of guilt and wanting to redeem himself, the Castle returned. Vincent will find new friends and foes as he traverses the Castle’s memory-made worlds to rescue Azen, but can everyone overcome the shameful past?

Features:
- A rewritten and more expanded take on the original plot. Filled with tons of BANG!
- Re-balanced battles, designed for an enjoyable challenge, rather than frustration.
- Remade, detailed maps filled with variety. Makes the Castle feel more deep and alive than ever before!
- Stronger development for the different characters in the game.
- Save anywhere!
- Interesting and creative puzzles to solve!
- Rescue other trapped souls from the Castle!
- Find Recovery Crystals, which you can either use to heal or break for stat-increasing items!
- Witness Vincent's hometown, Port Brinks, evolve as the story progress.
- Lots of secret rooms and treasure are rewarded for the dedicated explorer.
- Optional Bosses and Dungeons to test your might and uncover more information about the game's world and characters.

Castle Oblivion: Remake is now on Game Jolt!

Yo-yo-yo! I've finally decided to take my next step as a developer to join the somewhat huge indie website called Game Jolt! The first game I have posted is this one (mainly since it's the game I'm most proud of so far). You can check it out right here: Castle Oblivion: Remake - Game Jolt Edition.

I also want to let you guys know that I am indeed working on my 5th game ATM, which should be revealed pretty soon (it's a pretty short game, so it won't take too long for it to release either!). If you're a fan of Adventure games, then make sure to stay tuned!

Thanks for all of the support and kind comments so far! I really feel like I need to do something to celebrate for the amount of downloads the game have received. Keep it real, yo, and I'll see ya soon!

Lol, you're definitely not the first one! xD Thanks! It's coming along pretty well IMO. :)
just finish the demo and i can say my heart is ready for the finish version
So is my heart. Glad to hear you liked it!
Wow I just seen this! Can't wait till it's done!
I should be able to upload a progress report, updates etc. in a few days, hopefully. Lots of things have been done since I uploaded the game. Stay tuned! ;-)
Wow, this looks really cool!

I've never played the original, but I heard it was great! Also, I want to play this game, but I don't have the RTP or RPG Maker VX, only Ace.

kelarly must really trust you with this series to be working on it. You guys must be friends. :)

EDIT: Nevermind! You have a download with the RTP. I'll try out the demo!
When you release the game, make sure you release it with RTP and without RTP.
Thanks! I'm trying my best on this remake, hoping it will turn into a high quality RPG for everyone. I think this is a classic that the generation need to experience today.

Cool! Let me know what you think of it. I always upload With/Without RTP downloads when my games are finished. ^^
Hey luiishu535,

I played through the demo (I could only find the one that ends after the first boss on the first floor).

Overall it's looking very good so far! The characters and plot drew me in enough to finish the entire demo in one sitting, which is a good reflection thus far. The difficulty felt just about right, although the Shadow Shaman boss seemed pretty hard compared to what most games throw at you early in the game. Is there any way to predict or counter when he's going to hit you with the Darkness spell (which seems to happen in-between turns)? If there is some system at play there, it would be nice to know what exactly it is.

There were only a few things that annoyed me. First, when you're in the village (before leaving for the castle), there's a chest that I think I figured out how to get to... except when I walked over the tile that exits to the next map, it put me in the cutscene where you find the castle again, and I wasn't able to backtrack. I don't know if the chest contained anything worthwhile, but as a completionist, I didn't want to have to start the whole game over just to get the one chest... and I also wanted to continue playing. This could be fixed by adding a way to backtrack to the village, or by extending the map down 1-2 tiles so that players wouldn't accidentally run into the exit tile by moving to the right.

There were other minor things, like an Inn sign that didn't say anything (yet sparkled as though it should say something) and a few typos and grammar errors. I was more focused on playing through the game, though, and didn't mark down their exact locations. Some quick proofreading could probably find them; overall the text was pretty good.

It seems that you've made progress since the demo I played (like I said, it was the only official download I could find) and I definitely want to play more!

Keep up the good work,

The Undead Shaman will use the Darkness Skill first when he's at 75% HP, 2nd time: 50% HP and 3rd and final time when his HP is down to 25%.
All battles will be revisited once I've started testing the game, so changes might be made.

About that chest: you will be able to go back and get it later, but not in the demo.

The Inn sign and most typos (maybe all) have been fixed.

Thanks a bunch for your feedback and kind words!
I'm glad you managed to enjoy the demo and yes, the demo you downloaded is the one and only official version released. The full game release is next up.

It's a big game, but I believe there's a chance I might be able to finish this before 2016.

Hello,
just finished the demo and I must say I really enjoyed it. CO was the first RM game I ever played so I've got a little sentiment for it and I'm really happy that someone is making a remake.
Now for the feedback.
Everything seems to be changed in a far better way in comparision to the original. The character development is way better in this remake and so is the story. The level design is pretty good, I really liked it and Your mapping is simply amazing. Like in the original You use KH soundrack mostly, but that's good because I think it suits this game just fine.
The fights are balanced quite well and the crystals are placed in the right spots. I like the red crystal idea too!
There's only one thing that annoys me - physical attacks are preety much useless. I don't see a point of using them other then finishing off almost dead enemies. Even Hanz with weapon bless doesn't deal too much damage.
But despite that it was a really great experience, I'm glad that You're making such progress in such short time. I can't wait for the completed game :D
Keep up the good work.
I was thinking the same now, after I went back and played through the demo portion. Where there any certain enemies that you fought had too much defense?

That's probably what I'll do, lower most enemies defense.

Vincent is more focused on healing, but I'll definitely make him a bit stronger. Also, I've given Hanz some more powerful skills now, so he should be deadlier.

Thanks for your feedback and support man! I'm really glad you liked it!
Nah, I didn't have any specified enemy in mind. On every enemy it's just really weak in comparison to skills and I just ended up using only skills trough the whole demo.
But I'm glad You're gonna fix that later on.
Still can't wait :D
Meanwhile I'm gonna give CO3 a try.
Well, Hanz is definitely much stronger now. ;)
Nice! Hope you'll enjoy it. ^^
Hey, luiishu!

Not to be a bother, but you said you would add me to the list as a tester. If you're busy and forgot, that's okay.

I was just a little curious. :)

*sets down a box of brownies* A small gift for you, for your hard work! Great game by the way!
Oh, sorry. I didn't forgot since my list is invisible to you guys, but I did forgot that I can add the testers to the page on RMN. I'll definitely go ahead and do it right away! :)

Yay! Let's throw a brownies party once the game is finished! ;)
Production on the trailer has started and I'm about halfway done so far! It's a tad tricky to replicate the original since not everything is kept the same in the remake. Without further ado, expect a trailer sometime this week!

AHAHA I didn't actually realize you did add me as pun writer for the game! I laughed to oblivion when I saw that!
Looks like you were oblivious to the news! Welcome to the team then, Froggy! Let's hope this game ends up further than actual oblivion.
I've made some descent progress on the game since my last update. In fact, I'm getting VERY close to the game's completion. Expect a Blog soon with an estimated release date. Stay tuned!
