Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

Posts

Well whatever the case you can never be too careful with this kind of stuff, so I appreciate the heads up.
Avast flags it too. It's definitely clean though. Like you said, a lot of firewalls/virus detection just don't like maker games for whatever reason.

I know Avast flags it because I just redownloaded and started another playthrough. Game is still great, and I am looking forward to the update and sequel eventually! My old offer of testing still stands if you want, Wheelman.
Just so it helps, my free AVG software said it contained a virus as well when I played this BUT I know for certain there is no virus in it as I downloaded it a while ago and my PC is fine now.

You can also see for yourself and tell by many reviews others clearly haven't had any problems with it either, or didn't notice a virus. So for anyone who wants to play this but is afraid of a virus, no need to worry about it, it's definitely safe & it's a game I recommend playing. The writing is very good!
Thanks guys, it never hurts to double check. Or triple check. Or even quadruple check.
Malwarebytes too - the Umbral Soul Game.EXE came up in a list of files it wanted to quarantine when I was trying to work out why my computer was crashing.
Which brought me here, and I was all excited for a second to see the game on the front page again! ... but not because there was an update :(
Worth waiting for though!
it never be a ubdate of game and virus thing dont bug me it strange what is the real problem
Hi. I'm at the last stage, but I'm missing the first two scenarios on the second page. Is it still possible to get them?
You can still get them as long as you haven't entered the capital. After having beaten the vampire quest, talk to Grelda in Pandora's room. This will start a new sidequest that will unlock those two scenarios.

Don't worry guys, once the update is done I'll make a blog post about it so everyone knows.
I can't play it! I've heard great things and really wanna try it, but my antivirus says it has "Trojan:Win32/Bitrep.A", which it won't let me make an exception for no matter what.
Will it let you download the folder? If so you can try pasting the exe from another vx ace game in there and see if it'll accept that. The exe is the little red dragon head.
Hey. I really want to play this game, but every time I install and launch it, I keep getting this error that says the game.exe contains "a virus or potentially unwanted software". I've added it (game.exe specifically) to my Windows Defender exception list, and don't have any other antivirus/antimalware programs, and it still won't launch. Any suggestions on what I can do? I've asked in the Discord, and everyone there seems to be as confused as I am.

For context, I'm on a Toshiba Satellite laptop, running a completely updated Windows 10 OS (Yes, Windows Defender flagged Bitrep.A as a trojan. What's up with that?)
Something's up with the new anti-viruses in that they've been freaking out about certain vx ace exe's, though I ran a clean scan on the game before uploading it. If your anti-virus keeps deleting it, try copying the exe from another vx ace game into the folder and see if that works. It's the little red dragon head.
Ok, I re-redowloaded the game and now it launches, but says I need RPGVAce RTP to play it. Gonna find whatever that is, install it and will update my situation. Weird. I have no idea why it runs now, when it didn't earlier. I didn't do anything different. Even extracted it to the same place...

Also, that's the fastest, and most helpful (in the first reply), reply I've ever gotten when I've posted an issue on a forum/forum-like-area.
You don't have to go far to find the rtp, I put a link to it on the download page. It's basically a bundle of all the resources that come with rpg maker vx ace. Once you download it, you'll be able to play any xv ace game without running into that error. That really is weird though, but hey at least the problem's fixed! Uh...somehow.
Ok, final (maybe) update. I've installed the RTP, and it launched successfully! Now to play what looks like a badass (if albeit, mechanically outdated. Hey, I love retro RPGs) game. I'll post again if I run into any issues. I'd still like to know why it's working now, but didn't earlier. Oh well, at least I'm able to play it now.
*phew* Well that's a load off my mind. Have fun being evil!

(P.S. If you could send me pm whenever you run into an issue that'd be awesome. Just click my name and hit "send user a message" and you'll be good to go.)

By the way, welcome to rmn!
Hey guys. I made a Wiki for the game.

https://umbral-soul-dark-rebirth.wikia.com/

Feel free to edit it and fill in blanks I miss. I only have Pandora's page up at the moment, as 1) I just made the damn thing and 2) I'm only 4 hours into the game and haven't recruited Damien yet.

And before you mention my abysmal play time/percentage ratio, remember: it's an RPG with many characters. I grind a lot. Grinding multiple characters up to the same level can turn a 20 hour game into a 25-60 hour game depending on the amount of characters and level cap.
it realy cool you wiki oscan can you made page for ragnarok or castelle damien
