Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

kennsure-Hmm...there are a few villages that are surrounded by forests, so I need to know which one we're talking about. If you mean the one next to the magic school, that one is connected to a sidequest you can start by talking to one of the students at the tamer's school in Arcfall to the east. If that's not the one, I'm sure I can narrow it down if you can get me the name of the village. Thanks for your interest, it means a lot.

I've already done the phoenix sidequest.
The name escaped me for a moment, but it looks like the village's name is Lyria and the forest is Aster forest.
By the way, is there a way to access Bandit's cave and Timbershade woods?
Ah, I gotcha. Lyria village, Aster Forest and the Bandit's Cave are all part of the main quest, so if you keep going, you'll get there eventually. Timbershade Woods is connected to a sidequest that you can start in Arcfall after a certain event that comes pretty late in the game. There will be an npc pacing back and forth in front of the inn in Arcfall, speak to her to kick off the quest.
Aww, shucks. I still need to finish that underwater temple and I'm stuck at the fire/water/light/darkness puzzle.
Why do I have to be bad at puzzles...
EDIT: nevermind, just found the solution
Oh come on, that one was easy as pie! Of course I AM the one who came up with the answer so I might have a tiny bit of an advantage. If you ever get stuck, just hit me up and I'll let you know what you need to do.
Yeah, I was REALLY stupid for not realizing that sooner :P
Oh by the way, I think I found a bug(?); Darkle's Fairy's Blessing doesn't appear on spell selection menu. Don't know if this has been reported or not.

Also, how do I trigger the "Lilith and the Succubi sidequest"?
Yeeeeah, somebody tipped me off about that. It looks like I had classified that move as a type Darkle can't learn. Doh! It's been fixed for the next version (along with 472 other glitches), but thanks for the heads up. As for that sidequest, I should probably start putting this stuff in spoiler tags. Welp, better late than never.

Remember that quest I mentioned that starts with that npc pacing in front of the inn in Arcfall? If you follow that questline, it'll lead to the Lilith quest. The npc won't appear until you've cleared Aster Forest though, so just keep going and the opportunity will arise.

Congrats on all the nominations and impending awards! This was a fun game, and the characters definitely carried the game. I think I almost felt a tear in my eye for the scene near the end before the finale. The optional dialogues with party members in the castle and the extra collectible cutscenes was a nice touch.
Any idea how much longer until the new version comes out?
Dyluck- Thanks Dy, I start flipping out every time I think about it too hard. Still convinced you're all crazy, but I like crazy people, so it's cool. It was a lot of fun to make, although there were a few moments of pain when it came to all the eventing. So...much...pain.

1for3- Ah deadlines; my mortal nemesis, we meet again. I don't like making promises I can't keep, but I'll say the best case scenario is probably, I repeat, probably 2 months. Hey, wait a second...I hear you starting your stopwatch. Stop that. You stop that right now.

Got it! Finally reached that one! Thanks for the info! There's also something I need to know about a small detail in that sidequest. Don't know if it had been pointed out by others or not.
Hilda is the only unit who retains her accumulated TP to the next battle. Is it a bug or feature?
Glad you made it, I tried to make the sidequests at least somewhat easy to stumble upon.
The TP carry -over is a feature unique to that character. It's a passive ability called "Hot-Blooded" which she starts out with.
The stopwatch is running, I'll return in exactly two months.

It is? Oh snap! Didn't even think of checking the skills menu.

I'll be waiting for two months too! I've set my alarm just for that :P
You guys really know how to push my buttons.
Hey, I like hearing "not until at least March".
Now whenever this game pops up the list, I won't spend a few seconds unreasonably excited that the update's out. For awhile.

Uh...yeah, sorry about that. I never wanted to repeatedly get your hopes up and then smash them into itty bitty bite-sized pieces. I'm not evil, I swear!
I really had an amazing experience with the full version! So for that, I wanna thank you wheelman. :D There's so much detail put into the story and most especially the characters! They're full of colors and life! :) The full version proved to be indeed worthy of my 5 star rating! ^_^
Phew, I'm glad you didn't change your mind about that! Actually, it was your review; the first review I ever got on this game, that encouraged me to improve it. If I remember correctly, I don't think I added voices until after your review came out, so that's one of the changes I felt inspired to make thanks to you. That being said, thanks for being one of the driving forces that made this game what it is now!
I never changed my mind! xD In fact, in my own personal standards, it exceeds the ratings of 5 ! :D It really gladdens me to see classically made games like this finished and it truly is an honor for me to be able to play it and be a part of it somehow! ^_^
