Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

Are these the same darkness points that you get from visiting certain places and triggering some small story segments?
They're the points you get from bringing certain items to the Ebony Cauldron. You also get some automatically as the main story progresses, usually after doing something evil.
so when I'm visiting the old burned down village from Lianna's childhood and it says 'darkness increased', that's the same thing?
Ohhh, you mean that. Yeah that's something different, just a reward for exploration. Doesn't affect the story.
I got a question can you get into sullivan manor?
Nope not in the game. Might be possible in the Sequel though.
Or if we are really lucky in the next version where the new campaign should be available.
So seeing as how highly rated this game is, and how cool the setting sounded, I decided to give it a shot.

I am not far past the prologue, but so far a VERY cool concept for a game. However, these instances of "thier" are killing me. I saw that you had been working on an update to add new content and remove the "thier" issue, among other text errors. Is that something that is going to come out anytime soon? I want to play this, but seeing that misspelling consistently just takes me right out of the game, I just can't help it :/

Thank you for all the time and hard work you put into this, and I am excited to see where the game goes :)
Oh don't you worry, the "thier" scourge has already been culled. The enemy fought fiercely, but in the end, they were no match for the overwhelming might of our greatest weapon; the backspace button. It was a hard-fought victory that did not come without loss, so let's have a moment of silence for the fallen.

Alright, that's long enough. The elimination of the text issues is just one improvement being made to the game. The most time consuming addition I've been working on is another campaign where you play the story from another party's perspective, since it basically means remaking the game with new events, enemies and dialogue. It's been going very well though, and once its been completed I'll be able to re-release the game. It's perfectly playable as is, but I want to make it worth playing again by changing more than just glitches and misspellings. It shouldn't take too much longer, but I'm bad at meeting release dates, so I can't give an exact time. I hope you enjoy what's there for now, and thank you.
i think i'm down to three unknown scenarios, but i'm not sure how to get them. I assume one of them has to deal with the vampire queen, since there was a part 1. Any suggestions on how to get part 2?
In the vampire castle, go back to the room where you solved the music puzzle and talk to the demon singing there twice. That will start a side quest that will unlock another scenario upon completion.
and the last scenario of the second part of the scenario menu? I assume that comes about once I enter the capital?
Nah, the capital is the point of no return. To get that scenario you just have to evolve Draconus once.
crap, how do i beat athena a second time?
Spoiler because spoilers.

You don't. You aren't supposed to win that battle. Time to take one on the chin, bud.
Well, that ending was something. Sequel in the works, yeah?
You betcha.

The sequel's story will pick up a month from where this game left off, with the Acolytes having built up a massive force of demons and dark mages, extending their influence across the land. Before that however, a campaign will be added to this game where you play through the story as Serene's party. A few new characters will be introduced, and you'll be able to see what the heroes were doing while Pandora was busy messing up the world.

Everyone who appeared in this game (that didn't die) will make a return, from main characters to npc's to sidequest characters. In the sequel, called Luminous Soul, you'll be playing as heroes who work with Lumielle to undo everything you did in this game. This means of course that all of your former allies, including Pandora's summons, will now be trying to kill you. Thanks for playing, I hope you enjoyed yourself.
I've learned I'm terrible at ETA's, so I can't really give an exact date. The good news is the sequel's story is already done, and a lot of its resources are done as well. Serene's story reuses a lot of maps, and mapping is usually what takes me the longest, so that's looking good too.
