ATMAWEAPON'S PROFILE

I grew up nerdy and alone. It was awesome.

I can still remember staying up at night, controller in hand, my face illuminated by the pale glow of my tiny TV set. The games I played growing up were more than just a way to pass the time. I remember the stories, the characters, the music. Later I would make friends over common interests. We would bond over old titles like these because they made us feel something.

That's what I want to do... If one person stays up late, their face painted with that familiar light, and they feel something now like I felt something then... I'll know I made something worthwhile.

[PAID][Request][RMMV] Needing FF4/FF6 style battle sprites for MV. (11 Characters)

Hello,

I am looking for pixel artists that can do battle sprites in the SNES-era Final Fantasy tradition, or something close to it. I need 11 characters to flesh out the prototype of a new JRPG mini-series.

- A washed up freedom fighter
- This guy ^ as a kid
- A wandering duelist from a nomad culture
- This guy ^ as a kid
- A bright eyed elf ranger
- A mellow bard in sunglasses (cig in mouth a +)
- A shy, apprehensive magic-user
- A goblin tinker/sapper
- A dark and honorable spearfighter from a desert culture
- A mysterious thief/rogue character
- A generic Hooded Thief/Ninja
- A generic Platemail Soldier

The characters do not need to have all individual animations. For example, each character doesn't need to move a unique way when they dodge or lay in different directions when they're down. Template work is fine, as long as it is original work. I would request permission to use the art commercially because I don't yet know if the project will ever go commercial but I like to have the bases covered.

This doesn't have to all be taken on at once by one person. I wouldn't be able to afford that anyway. As each character is finished, I will cross them off the list here. Any artists that come through on this request will also receive credit under Battle Image Designer.

Here is a link to the game this is for: Neverspring Chronicles

Here is a pic of my placeholders to give an idea of what I'm looking for. I'm not able to use these because they are based on an edit of an edit of a FF6 character (I think).

Feel free to email me with questions or if you're interested at:
ogreleg.gameworks@gmail.com

I'm also including a link to a zipped file of my current battlers that need replacing. They are sized and positioned to fit the default RPG Maker MV weapon positions: Current Battle Sprites

Thanks for your time!

Shelving Project Due to Poor Performance

Lack of interested and lack of feedback are pandemic, and they're happening mostly because there are sooooooo many games out there, having one of them catch someone's attention is a lot more difficult. So I'd recommend thinking about it carefully before dropping this project because it isn't getting enough attention in hopes that the next one will. I feel like in order to make your game popular these days you either need to make a game entirely focused on being popular (flashy graphics, fast paced, corky graphics and amazing mechanics) or you need to invest in marketing a lot. If you're not willing to do either, just focus on your target audience and try to make it work.

It's true, there are so many games out there. I had come to a very similar conclusion. Marketing and eye candy seemed to be two big bullets on the list, and they sometimes feel like they go hand in hand. The better it looks, the easier it can be to market it. I figured feedback from the various sites would tell me whether or not it was worth spending money on for marketing.

Truth be told, I have no intentions of abandoning the project entirely. I'll come back to it someday with a new eye, just like I'm currently doing with other projects. Maybe even make the switch to Unity if I can ever get the right assets.

I don't think it would be too bold of me to say that, when it comes to supersmall indies, there are probably more people making them now than playing them. It's never been a better time to make something: it's getting seen and getting people to actually play them that are the big hurdles we're all facing right now. We're all feeling it on some level.

And remember that a failed project has never truly failed if you learned something from it. A cancelled project could one day lead to a new, even better project.

Yes! This is exactly my mindset. o/

Sorry to hear you've been discouraged by lack of interest. I have a sinking feeling that RM games in general are well past their golden age, and into their golden years.
Best of luck on your next endeavors :)

Thanks Dyhalto o/

This project was my very first game, so I can't be too discouraged. To be honest, I'm feeling pretty positive about it. I've learned so much working on this project that I can't wait to make something even better. Then something even better after that, and so on.

I saw a game jam coming up on Itch that inspired me. It's all about reviving old projects. I'm currently updating my old Stellar Punk project and trying to get a new demo ready before the game jam starts in another week or so.

I'm confused: Why is the game marked as completed if only 1 episode (out of 3 episodes) is available? And why is the game suddenly called "Neverspring Chronicles", even though the game page solely uses the former title "Durance of Magic"?

Each Episode is a full length game. Not as many hours as a AAA title but Episode 1 is probably about as long as an older JRPG game like FF4 or earlier.

As for the title, "Durance of Magic" has always been a working title. The most recent download is a massive feedback driven update. The "Durance of Magic" title was always one of the negative feedback points.

Hello I downloaded the latest version.

In the options menu after configuring it gives me this error

I'm not sure myself what the problem is but hopefully, maybe you or someone else knows.

But while I've only seen the introduction to your game so far, it really is good and promising. I like the UI in battle.

Wow, I've never seen that bug before. I'll look into it now.

And thanks! :)

**EDIT: I'm having trouble replicating the bug. Are you using a PC or a Mac? What setting were you trying to change?

That's why it looks like it's been there for so long. Never could find his way.

so how do i get the newest one?
your dropbox is pretty frantic, i downloaded the game a couple of weeks ago (with skills problems) and it's ~772Mb, I dled another one now from your dropbox and it's ~757Mb.

Could you give a proper link to the lastest vesion?

Yeah, the link that's up right now as well as the browser version are the most up to date with (hopefully) all the bugs gone. I've been dumping a lot of work into this lately, hence the frantic changing in versions the past few weeks, and was actually updating the download right when you first commented. The server and the dropbox should both be good to go at this point, whichever you prefer.

I'd say just in case, if you go browser hit F5 on your keyboard to reset the game to make sure it loads all the current files. I noticed sometimes the cache for MV makes it so that old assets are used. So just hit F5 once when you start it up if you go browser.
