Think about this. Obama's grandmother was "afraid" of African Americans people but she loved her grandson dearly. When Obama was about 12, his grandfather revealed that his grandmother was a racist (which crused Obama.)
A lot of "racist" people voted for Obama, because they generally dislike the race as a whole, not the individuals themselves. (This is how I feel towards Japanese people.)


Killing Obama would most likely create a lot of African-American-sympathy all over the U.S. This is just a personal speculation. I mean, the African Americans have just won their great victory. His assassination would probably make most people feel sorry for these amazing people who have risen up against oppression. As I would.

Killing him because he's black falls into the category of a hate crime. The term "hate crime" has very distinct borders (doing something against someone because of their ethnicity, gender, etc.), but "racist" has very, very vague borders (it's subjective.) I consider anyone who isn't racially "colorblind" (doesn't take race into account) racist. This includes myself as being racist, and almost everyone else I know. So yeah, calling someone a racist is a very loose term! (I keep thinking about that Avenue Q song... everyone's a little bit raciiiist, today...)

(I only talked about hate crimes because some kid at my school was rumored to be cited for a hame crime due to him dressing up as border patrol. And we have a good amount of Latinos in our school.)

EDIT: Er, the point I'm getting at is that being a "racist" is not necessarily a bad thing. However, committing "hate crimes" is.

One thing I'm kind of curious -- I've heard Obama has already got a lot of assassination threats/plots on him... Has anyone heard anything about this, or are they just rumors that everyone in Houston likes to talk about...?

The thing is, if he is assassinated that would just probably heighthen racial sympathy.
