What do you think makes an RPG?
Golden Sun is a fun RPG. All RPGs should be like that.
What makes an RPG is the way you play from a character's PoV in their world, playing their "role." Gameplay generally revolves around missions or quests, and there is usually some sort of statistical development. Such missions/quests are generally story-driven, as there is some sort of overall goal the main character(s) is trying to achieve.
What differs is that it's a lot more of playing a character's specific role (knight) in a specific plot of their world rahter than an action based element (FPS's/fighting games) or a puzzle element (Tetris).
I'm not the best one to ask since I'm not a real big fan of RPGs...

Also, I'm inclined to agree with Kentona. If the song in question fits stylistically; I see no shame in using it. People who choose lackluster songs for sake of obscurity astound me.
It's because... I'm all about the originality. Also, it's not obscure songs = bad songs.
