-We're also known for the area's natural beauty
-"420" started here.
-George Lucas (sometimes he can spotted), James Hetfield (of Metallica), and Carlos Santana live around here too.
-Brøderbund Software was also started here (Myst, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, Lode Runner)
-A reality TV show is going to be filmed here and shown on MTV, called "The County," going to be about the lives of 7 kids in Marin (this is the stupidest fucking thing ever)

Yeah, they can work if they're not, as Darken said, an excuse for lack of effort.
I've seen so many shitty games where "LOL SRY IGNORE BAD MAPPING & GFX IT"S SUPPOSED TO BE BAD."
If you did something comedy with say, original maybe Earthboundy graphics, quirky dialogue and fun gameplay, then it would work out excellent.
