Pom Gets Wi-Fi

Wow, that lapdog is still on the first buzzing??
I came back to here after a half year leaving from RMN and then panicked...

It's the best game of all time. Here are some reviews I extracted from google that are totally legit:
"Hard but never punishing." -Gamespot
"A perfect mix between storytelling and gameplay" -Famitsu
"9/10. Not enough wi-fi." -Anonymous
"It still shows up on the main page, so it must be good." -Me

I'm in love.

Can't Be Stopped

I love earthbound-esque games. This game looks swell too.

[RMVX ACE] The deepest thing you've done with variables, common events and switches?

Man, alot of crazy things were done with just eventing... It's so inspiring... It almost makes me want to create something like that again, but to be honest, things get scary once you start to use conditional branches, variables, switches and common events, even worse when things get messy and you don't know the origin of a problem.

[RMVX ACE] The deepest thing you've done with variables, common events and switches?

I'm curious to know how many things can we do with just the tools the engine gives us.

The most complex thing I've done was in a horror game, I made two items, "Gun Loaded" and "Gun Unloaded" and different bullets with different "blessings". Basically, if an enemy was weak to a certain blessing, he would stop in his tracks, twich, and you'd be able to interact with them (By shooting the bastard) but since other enemies were strong to a certain type of bullet, they would keep chasing you.
In order to load the bullet you had to interact with the item via menu and load or unload the gun with the type of bullet you wanted.
To this day I have not been able to replicate this again...

The appeal of JRPG's

Same. Though the FF games seem to be inclined away from the happy cheesy scale, at least in the post-cartridge era.
Happy? Yeah, maybe not so much...I'd class them as bittersweet. Cheesy? IMO very much so - out of the post-cartridge ones I've played (VII, VIII, X, X-2, most of XII), most have delved into a lot of the so-called 'positive' values I mentioned in my last post (especially VIII and X).

I think anime and JRPGs share a lot of the same stylistic and story conceits. (Much like WRPGs and popular fantasy fiction over here.) If you enjoy one, you probably also enjoy the other.

Yes, I think so too. As diverse as anime is, there are usually certain tropes that make one go, "Yeah, this is an anime alright", and I think similiar tropes hold for jRPGs.

It's been a long time since I've seen anime. Mostly because alot of them share the same tropes and overall cliches. But then there are alot of other good animes that I watched and that I loved.

I think anime might explain my love towards JRPGs.

So... Considering that it's the end of 2015 and subsequent estimated deadline, does anyone know if Nick is planning on coming back to this or...

You should check his latest post. I think It'll be a while before he decides to continue this or not.

So, about Armored Core...

Oh man I played Armored Core... I think it was 5, on the Xbox. It was super fun being in a speed mech that had jet thrusters and two laser swords.

But it relies too much on an online community... which is long dead.

Mech games... I really like Front Mission. Not Evolved, but 3 and 4. They're strategy games but there's something about customising a robot, and then deploying it strategically to deal damage to other robot body parts with your cool robot weapons that's slightly more appealing than being in the cockpit.

I'm gonna check that out alright. As for armored core, I think I'll be getting For answer. I don't really like the bulky mechs in V and the UI looks strange. I heard that FA was pretty fast but that's alright for me, besides the mechs look cooler there.

So, about Armored Core...

Neither of this but MechWarrior Online got a Steam release recently. It's free to play, so it can't hurt to try it out? I played the tutorial of the beta a long time ago (so I can't say much) but I have a friend who is playing and he thinks it's at least decent.

Shit this was looking promising but I apparently don't even meet the minimum requirements...
