author=Froggeauthor=RodenYo seconding this. I love how organic the first one looks. Second on is great too, obviously, but it just doesn't have the same charm to it.
The ground should be greener, like the original. Creates a nice contrast that the new one is lacking.
Noted! Do you think it’s mainly a fault of the tint/lighting or the actual tiles?

More progress on BR's revamp.
The original dungeon map (using Rudra tiles) vs the commercial version!
It may have suffered a bit in terms of its atmosphere - any suggestions? Should the overlay be stronger? Should the underlying tileset be darker like the original?

Went digging through my (ancient) Photobucket account from the pre-social-media era, and I was appropriately horrified. XD A lot of old-school RPGMaker shots.
Here's one of the VERY first screenshots from when BR was little more than a short story I wrote during high school. I think this was 2007-ish?
And for good measure, a shot of a similar area in the new commercial remaster.
Darken: Loving that title screen quite a bit! Did you draw the background yourself?

What I like about checking back on this site is seeing how little has changed and unfortunately I don't mean that in a good sense.
Eh, it is what it is. It's still a tighter-knit community compared with RMW, IMO. And it's the closest thing to a semi-unified group of RPGMaker users, even if many of them are completely awful.

Hm, the image looks a bit on the blurry side..? XD
Nice use of elevation, though! I like the moss/vine edits on the walls.

A Release Is Imminent
I think I remember seeing some progress shots on Twitter a while back - honestly, kind of crazy to note how far it’s come from the 2k3 days / the prototype version.
Also, if you made the visuals for this yourself, that’s even more impressive. Kudos on your work ethic for seeing it through to completion!
Hoping this gets some attention after the Steam release.

So now what's the plan?

I’ve sort of grown up on this website, I’m far from the most active user but I’ve been here for 10 years and never really left it. It’s taken these 10 years to finally understand how to make a game, and how to get a good work ethic.
Way too relatable. Actually, the work-ethic part still seems to be pretty elusive. XD
Glad to hear you're making progress, though! The demo was one of the most promising games I played from RMN in quite a long time. I'd be happy to playtest again if you need, depending on how much content will be added.
KH3 Box Art revealed! Can't say much for Nomura's ability to keep games on schedule, but at least he can still draw. XD

Not feeling it tho. It says "another kingdom hearts, there"
(tho I never was an adamant fan either, even if I liked the second hehe)
Looks nice n all
Hm, I think it's an all-around cute illustration.
It's a bit more overwrought than the simpler art for KH/KH2, but at least it sticks close to the characters that the player actually cares for. The spinoff games delved a little too far into anime-trope-land with the cast and branching storylines.

Been adding some new particle effects for waterfalls and even walk splash animations:
I already mentioned this on your game-page, but this looks stunning.
I love how you abandon traditional pixel art for visuals that truly feel raw and gritty, and even use Rm2k3's color limitations as part of your artistic direction. You don't see that accomplished very often. Reminds me a bit of JPC's old maps.
