Year End Retrospective: Prettiest/Nicest-Sounding/Best-Smelling Game Edition

There were many games which impressed me the graphic way. Some of them with good use of the rtp style, some with custom graphics. I had no problem to cast my vote in this category.
Music on the other hand is bit harsh. I voted for Oneshot's soundy ambient, though there were absolutely some better creations last year. I loved some of the themes used in Sunken Spire. They gave me that high gear feel, I remembered from animes. They made me feel cool.
Shippa La Sempu also succeed in borders of the genre and the sound seems appropriate speeding up the game. My opinion here may differ from Tunger's.

How do you promote your WIP on RMN?

Tumblr is for another style of use than let's say Weebly or Wordpress. It's possible to get there loads of views you have no idea about. What I mean is, that if you are not willing to implement Google stats to your page (they are some more 3rd party options as well), you don't have any idea how many actually did see the given post. You have limited info on reposts and number of followers.
It also helps to have custom domain.
I would recommand to create a page for the game on Indiedb. You can get some followers there too as well as access to Desura.

Year End Retrospective: Overall Bestest Game Edition

Thank you so much, Red_Nova! That's incredibly nice of you to say, and I'm really glad you're enjoying TBoTW so far.

The games I enjoyed most as an overall experience were definitely X-Noir by Volrath and ArtBane (not new to the site, but completed in 2014) and Sunken Spire by Indra and Fomar0153. They managed to shine in multiple areas and are absolutely worth every minute of play time. Both games weren't perfect, but definitely the ones I liked most out of all that I played.

I also want to specifically mention Soul Sunder by Red_Nova, which has a few rough edges but was still a way above average experience to play.

Agreed. I enjoyed Spire from start to end. Only thing which can throw it down for 'general player' is need to know some previous Arum games.
And massive shout out to Enelysion. Massive, cuz I've just completed my run and it was massive.

M.O.G. Creation

The idea was great. I am bit ashamed I haven't made any contributions in music and graphics as I wanted to improve my 8-bit skills.
But some of the resources created are so cool, I can't get enuf of them and I may end up using them in some other project as well. I even haven't touched most of them, yet!
The problem of the third part was the time. And not the lack of it. I think people can better concentrate on gam makin, if they are stressed. Just look, how many contributions is for some more restricted events. The whole chain of events took over four months, that is allmost regular developement time (Or it was in times of Atari).

2014 Misaos - The VOTENING

I love how a good number of the "most promising demos" are already completed, while another (Eternal Odyssey) no longer even has a gamepage on the site.

dem nominations dawg

I definitely find this category as the most promising.

Year End Retrospective: Excellent Gam Mak Edition

It has pretty neat gameplay mechanics. It was made for that big competition (IGMC) and won Humble Bundle's fav gam. It was half-cooked as there weren't enuf monsters for heroes to slay, both music and graphics were RTP. Only working part was a twist.
The twist is really great, cuz It is a RPG game without fighting. And It has mechanics which can substitute this very essence of the majority of rpgs. Gathering of items and informations works great and its fresh. Also in traditional rpgs I usually tend to hoard money, so its naturally appeals to me.

What about the Vendor?

McBacon Jam

Name: Capage
Main Skills: Don't have any. I'm new to gam making and too old to remember my coding skills from the high school.
Storytelling is my main skill as I study it. The problem is language. I don't use english often enuf to write flawlessly. I can create genius gameplay mechanics, but I am not able to implement them. I'm getting good at mapping too.
Other Skills: music production, can draw, character design
Engines/Languages/framework preference: Ace, I guess. I am able to adapt though. Back in the high school days I made short game with use of Sphere. I'm keen to work in some older rm too.
Prefer to work on: Fiction, don't care about genre
Prefer NOT to work on: Horror, Non-fiction
Comment: I'm for random pick as I have no valueable skills for the others. Right now, I feel I would be of no help to matadors of rmn. I hope for more inexperienced makers to join the baconing.

What does RPGmaker.net think of anime?

I haven't watched any anime show for pretty long (cuz I have to watch Griffith all the time).
I used to be Fiary Tail fan for some reason. I remember How I saw it for the first time on my sis's computer (She's MegaOtaku) and It looked really silly.
What is worth watching is Cowboy Bepop. It's great soap opera, Only finale doesn't work as it should (Manga is probably more consistent).
@Kylaile reminded me of Texhnolyze. It was probably first anime I saw and liked.
Gintama is super fun. However I've never watched it from the first episode. I saw about fifty random episodes total. It's mostly about japanese popculture references, If you know them It's twice as fun. Somebody probably mentioned this above.
GTO has the bestest openings. Teacher itself is one of the best characters I encountered in cartoons. The problem was I got bored after few episodes and never finished it.

What I am looking forward to watch in near future is Ping Pong. It has interesting style and I heard only possitive reactions about its story.
Lol Cowboy Bebop doesn't have a manga. Its rare but some anime are indeed anime originals. Also IMO Kaiba and Tatami Galaxy were much better than Ping Pong though Ping Pong was still nice (All three of those were by the same guy). Also liked Kuuchuu Buranko but I don't think that's by the same guy just similarly experimental animation. There's also Gankatsuo.

Actually, It has two. But you have the truth, Anime was the original form. My persona somehow knew about the manga before the anime. I'm not sure myself which one from the wide selection of two it was though. I only had read about it in one and only czech comic magazine. There were single page about manga in each issue and usually about some classic such as naruto, metal alchemist or death note. I've never got in reading manga, so that was reason I watched this one.
