Never really got into blogs, but the first forum I joined was FFLegend.com around 2000/2001. I then moved on to a rom hacking forum called Acmlm's Board. It was through rom hacking that I discovered RPG Maker, and the rest is history.
Anyway, it's difficult to dig through since I have often changed username over the years. I even had my username changed here after a while.
Of course I have changed a lot. The thing I'm most glad for is the improvement to my English. When I first started online I only knew a bit of English and used Babelfish to translate a few times. The only thing I miss is that I became less outgoing online. I used to be active all over the place and known by everyone, now I'm mostly a lurker. On the upside, I became more outgoing outside the internet.

Nobuo Uematsu wants to work on a new 2D RPG (with the FFVI team)
Apparently Nobuo Uematsu wants to work on a new 2D RPG with the team of Final Fantasy VI.

This might or might not happen (he seems serious enough to even pitch it to Square-Enix though), but what are your thoughts on this. Even though it would be a 2D RPG similar to Final Fantasy VI, how different do you think it would be considering it would be made 20 years later?
Would you want the team to make a sequel to the original game, or a new game entirely but with a similar vibe?

[RMVX ACE] Flashanimations as Cutscenes?
I'm pretty sure there aren't any limits to the size of video files played through RPG Maker. However, if you have many videos it will increase the size of your game, and some people will avoid downloading your game if it is too big. Therefore, I would say that if you can make a version with no videos then to go ahead and do that.
Ideally though you would make one version of your game with only a few videos that aren't too big so that your game remains small enough in size.

[Poll] What if Final Fantasy V...
I played Final Fantasy IV, V and VI in that order, and I still find that VI is the superior of the three. However, that is my own personal opinion.
That being said, Final Fantasy VI is not perfect. One of the places I find it performs better is with character development, and that is the most important part of a game for me.
Edit: To answer your original question. I don't think it would have affected the gaming scene much. There would be a bit more people that prefer V, but not much more. The majority of people played VII as their first Final Fantasy, so that would not have changed. My opinion would not have been different either since I played IV on the SNES and then only played V and VI later on the PlayStation.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?
Currently trying out Symphony of the Origin on Android.
Its not bad and its fun to play when I have some free time. My only complaint is that the normal difficulty is a bit too easy so far. I can put the battles on Auto and the characters will even heal themselves.
If anyone knows any good mobile RPGs I would be interested in hearing your suggestions.

[Discussion] Making my own RPG Maker like editor
My suggestion would be to finish a simple version with only the basic functions. Then use that to create a game to show the potential of your maker. Once that is done then start adding new features.
Anyway, some things that could be interesting to have supported by default:
- 8 direction movement.
- Enemies visible on the map instead of only random encounters.

I need a spriter
If you do want to work on your game though what I would suggest is to use placeholder graphics for now and get a good part of the game done. That way you can show the spriter what the game is directly and the spriter could even place the graphics directly into the game and see the result right away.
Did you like the movie "Man Of Steel" **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
I thought it was OK, but I don't know much about Superman, so my opinion is purely based on the entertainment factor. That being said, I thought it was kind of dumb that he is supposed to be this good guy yet doesn't do any effort to move the fight away from the city.
