Let's discuss: Gender Equality, in gaming and in life
That last bit on Asa´s post reminded me that on fighting games I always owned my ex gf, aside from Naruto Ultimate Ninja which I had trouble hitting special attacks while she would hit me with specials anytime she tried :O
Have Some Art!
I like your concepts and style a lot, I won´t say it is generally unusual, but it is different from what I am used to browse mostly. I like how sketchy certain pieces look and while I agree with most points Karsu made on your anatomy notions, you are still far better than myself at this.
Love the last Gigi pic and the machine gun lady best. Also, is it my inpression or the right eye for the machinegun girl is an artifical/cybernetic eye?:P

Karsu's Shitty Art Topic
Love the avatar, though I think I said that already. Those anatomy sketches are interesting although different than what I use, nice references =)

I think there are fundamental differences in the way men and women's minds work. Neither is superior, we just think differently. For example, men are better at thinking spacially (which sometimes makes them better at parking). Women are better at multi-tasking (to make us better at taking care of families from an evolutionary standpoint). This isn't to say that women can't park and that men can't raise families... but there have been enough studies done that I believe firmly that the way in which we think is different.
That is the point I want to bring. I´ve read at least 3 books which somehow tell about differences between average men and women ("Men are from Mars, women are from Venus", "Why do men make sex and women make love?", "Equal Rites" from Discworld series) and that those differences in both mind and body are natural and bilogical rather than coming from social conditioning.
Let´s point that essentially all humans are female at their base, however when DNA says male, certain quantities of masculine hormone are released to turn the body and mind into male ones. However those quantities are not programmed by computer so sometimes a girl baby end up receiving a bit of masculine hormone or a baby boy might receive less masculine hormone than needed to change his body and mind completely.
Those generate girls with manly traits and boys with girly traits.
Now, those traits were "designed" by nature when humans were primitive as other animals and back then, men just had to provide food and woman had to care for the cave and bear children.
This natural division gave men awesome spatial perception and abstration to outmatch the prey and to avoid being prey by bigger predators, also a lot of sheer physical power to disable the prey in fight and handle instruments to fight.
Women got a mind prefected for multi tasking, to watch over all the kids plus be on alert for dangers which also gave her a great peripheric vision to scope everything arouns her at short distances so her kids wouldn´t go out of her view easily. Also better hearing and a sort of sixth sense.
Note that despite the default hormones distribution, practice can enhance habilities anyway, just that an average girl or boy will have those characteristics set as described above, this proved by science.
So getting back to our time...
A regular guy would have good reflexes, would navegate easily using maps, calculate speed and path of projectlies easily as well as time to jump on platforms and distance over holes. Males may be better at chasing a single target, girls would be awesome at fighting multiple enemies.
A regular girl would be more patient to handle character upgrades, take care of monsters, be immersed into a story while thinking about a puzzle and equipment sets all at the same time. Would have an easer time locating objects/secret doors on the screen. Girls are also more social so that explains MMOs, for boys MMOs are good for competition, for girls it is companionship.
I think I am generally fitting for the male concepts: I can calculate shot paths and seepds relatively okay, I suck at multi tasking, I am awesome on finding myself on maps (my friend and I used to do a joke in FF6 where he moved the airship ramdomly and said a name of a city and I had X seconds to find said city... I always won :P). My less manly point lies in slow reflexes .
Now playing games with my ex gf brought some insights: In Gundam Omni vs Zaft, where you have a semi FPS view and may fight multiple anemies I usually had a nice time use transforming mechs to fly and snipe enemies from afar, but I was easily owned by multiple targets because I can only focus on one at time unless I force myself to change lock from time to time. She on the other hand got lot easily in stages, but it was rare to see her being shot in the back by unexpected enemies. n fact she used to play RPGs with me close only so I could guide her when she got lost, unless it was a plain top view rpg, then camera was fixed and north was always up.
Relations with The Gender of Your Preference
A looog coil-like relationship Mog, but I think it gave you enough good momments huh?
And good luck with your friend buddy, I think those are the best things which can happen, relationships starting from friendship.
I howeber, have no one I would consider dating right now, all my interesting female friends over here are already good girlfriends to their boyfriends and I am not up to search for someone proptly either :P

RMN Pixel Art Contest
Whoah, I didn´t know I had won :P Funny enough I was expecting Ody or Harmo to win :P
Anyway, just to clarify the booster effects on hills issue: It was pixelared as much as the background, the lasers and visor, each in a diferent file as Harmonics charsets, what I did was just set transparency when merging the jets, visor and lasers, a thing I use some times with spriting for shadows and I didn´t see anything against that in the rules :P I still have the separated layers to back it up at home, but if this is not a valid method I understand, just make sure it is all fair, no point in winning anything ouside rules for me.
Hope it is all fine as it is though :)
Now that aside, thanks to the compliments everyone and congrats to Ody as well, as I said before, may not be my style for character design, but you did a wonderful job and the mage there looks like a character I would play in rp ;)
Congrats to the others as well for the effort =^.^=

Relations with The Gender of Your Preference
Whoah, lots of sudden events happening here :P
Orig: Just as me, you think too much, how good or bad that is I have no idea, maybe it is good AND bad, who knows?
Liberty: I know a lot how it is, also that is funny, because it reminded me of a very short past relationship where the girl I was with broke up with me because I was too dependant and she was too focused in studying, given my dependance I soon ended bumping into someone else and she stopped mailing/replying me after that. The funny part is that my last relationship ended in great part because I was too focused in other things, which makes me wonder if we were on the same mindset back then, if things wouldn´t have worked.
But since it is in the past I couldn´t bring myself to contact her even to say that I understand her now in fear of bothering her, plus I don´t think it would be productive either. Still it gets in my mind from time to time.
April: yep, that concept of living things as they come made me try a lot of crazy things for relationships, from facing crazy girlfriends fathers who threatened to kil me t an almost 2 years long internet only relationship with someone living in another continent, to be with someone without compromise... in a way, no matter how hurt I was in several occasions, it is still a bunch of valid experiences.
Euphorian: Congratulations on that, hope things go really well for you =^.^=

The only hypothetical question that matters...for game developers who are also grownups.
I agree with Sam on that one, in fact nowadays ppl kinda quit on the survival ideas, most consummers prefer to spend on what makes than happy than basic priorities.
