Reminiscence: The WTF Saga

Is this like the joke game-ish Reminiscence for XP?

I'm unaware of the game of the same name.

No, it's not a joke game, but it's very far from taking itself seriously. It's an old school RPG type game (think Dragon Quest 3), just modernized (more puzzles/minigames).

Kentona: Haha, I was ignoring them anyway. I heard they put out on the first date.

Edchuy: You are correct!

i played your demo awhile ago and it was hard but i liked it. i read your blog site and the updates look good but i think you'll need an updated demo to keep people interested because its fun but needs balance and you say you've done balancing. i love dragon quest type games so i hope this turns out good.

Your wish has been granted! The new demo has just been released! Hope you enjoy it.

Go fight Giygas.

No shit.

When it's done!

Oh wait, that never worked for 3D Realms, did it? Estimated progress is about 25% completed. I hope to have a completely finished product (25 hours of gameplay roughly, hopefully more) before the end of the year.

Mother2k3

Very impressive for it being a fan game and being in 2k3. The maps are a little bland, but it's just a demo.

I think a talking mole in a hole would be a much better alternative to the garbage can puzzle hints than the sign.

Why is Goatse the first thing that comes to mind here?

Thanks for the feedback meh_ch.

I can't seem to duplicate the problem you're having with the save point there. What exactly happened when it disappeared?

I'm starting to receive a lot of feedback regarding the difficulty. It seems you are right in that people are just too used to games where they sit and hold enter in order to get through battles. Personally, I think battle like that are boring as all hell. I think because of this I'm going to pull a FFIV and have two versions, the first being the level of difficulty that I think is best and just have that as normal mode, in addition to an easy type. Maybe I'll subtitle it Carebear mode or something.

Haha, she totally is. I have the inn prices scaling with level because of the warp ring (for obvious reasons). I think I will cut back a little on the price though, it does make her seem like a gold digger.

Monstrous Wars

I just read Mr. Nemo's post. I had that problem too when you had the torch. After you leave the room in the upper right and come back, the screen is completely dark. I tapped on the arrow keys like crazy until I got back into that room, which took me about 30 seconds or so to do. I did this about 3 more times until I could suddenly see again. I don't know how or why, but I could so I was able to continue the game.

Nasty bug.

Monstrous Wars

I'm sneaking around in lockers now.

I have a really big gripe about this game. The tileset changes are far too dramatic. One moment you feel like you're inside a medieval fantasy land, the next moment you're in a futuristic slum... the police station being a perfect example of this. It really detracts from the setting, which from what I'm guessing, is not supposed to be a fantasy setting at all, and that's one of the major things this game has going for it.

Also, without going into spoilers, the story is just plain confusing and the dialogue sometimes just doesn't make sense. In the scene that takes place during and after the shrine, I found myself even more confused about the story and game world than I was when I first started.

Speaking of the police station... why does it look like the inside of everyone else's normal houses, complete with barrels, jars and pots?

I'm not sure what it is about this game in particular, but any other game that had all these problems I would just quit, but the completely obvious amount of time and effort put into this game, and the neat things you did with RM2k3 keep me going.
