Stand up Comedy anyone?
author=Eike
Yeah, I've heard a bit of Stanhope, he did seem to be pretty good! On the whole I'm quite into the UK scene (this is possibly evident from the fact everyone put 1-2 names and I put 93), but not really familiar with too many US guys. Only seen about 5-10 minutes of most of the names in this thread, will try and watch more sometime and form a better opinion. And if you've not heard of some of the ones I listed, if you ever get bored please do look them up! Some of their stuff is faantastic.
i will have to check them out. all the british comedy i have heard i enjoyed immensely.
a good U.S. comic worth noting is Lenny Bruce.
Hey you guys!

You kids and your crazy music... :|
at first i thought that was some comedy song about the liquor called old dan tucker, but...nope.
although it is a really talented to be able to pull off that kind off vocal style.
even though the level of hillbilly involved in the sound makes incest inside a bucket of chewin' tobacci' look sophisticated.

no.
i have, however, heard of wal-mart
never heard of that establishment. I am surprised one of them has not sued the other for some copyright name infringement.
George Takei speaks out against white washing in modern films/etc
author=Feldschlacht IVauthor=LockeZIt entirely depends on the importance of race/culture/ethnicity in said work. If it doesn't and never mattered what ethnicity a character is or where its setting takes place, that's one thing, but, Akira is notable because a lot of the themes and setting depended on the fact that it had Japanese characters in a setting that was Japan. It wouldn't be Akira otherwise.
I think they should use whoever can act the role best. That's clearly not what they're doing, but it's clearly not what George Takei thinks they should do either. If Sean Connery can play a Russian submarine captain, then I don't see why Morgan Freeman can't play Colonel Shikishima.
Imagine if they had Clint Eastwood play Kunta Kente in Roots. Wouldn't work.
at that point it would almost become a comedy.

Resident evil Raccoon city era, odd i know but a zombie apocalypse sounds genuinely exciting
EDIT: The cool thing about that choice is that it resides in a fictional "Modern day Earth" except with the exception of monsters and evil corporations and whatnot.
Wouldn't that be sweet...
well the evil corporations part is real...have you ever heard of Wallmart?
