It's my character in that RP Dudesoft is hosting, in a sort of faux status screen.

I see you're still alive, Dudes. I was starting to get worried.

Mighty No. 9 - Kenji Infune's new Megaman

author=Addit
(...So this is the “special project” that got Infune fired from Capcom that he wanted to do? Pfft...)

He didn't get fired, he quit. He spent years at Capcom not getting to do anything interesting because the only projects they would approve were sequels. After getting his pitch for Lost Planet denied, he developed a working demo in secret, and after it was revealed the execs basically had no choice but to let it go through. Capcom had become a stagnant environment, not willing to take any risks and simply pushing for easy money with rehashes of rehashes. After suffering from this pressure for years, Megaman Legends 3 getting cancelled for god knows what reason was the final straw. He ragequit Capcom. I don't blame him at all.

Mighty No. 9 - Kenji Infune's new Megaman

Like it or not, Megaman's pretty niche. Pretty much only its established fanbase will get the games, and today's environment is not really good for expanding something in its style. And it's not a huge icon like Sonic, where the established fanbase is enough to make the franchise economically viable. In my opinion, at this time, Megaman would be in better hands in a small indie studio than a big publisher like Capcom. Hell, it can even be said it's a burden for Capcom. Even if t's on the same scale, a game costs much more to make by a big ass studio, with all the extra people and paperwork.

You know what really excites me about this one? The concept art of Beck actually changed to reflect his new powers. Instead of simply getting recolored, like Megaman, he actually changes into a form suitable for his new power. And supposedly you'll be able to temporarily copy powers from stage enemies, instead of just bosses. The form shenanigans entertain me.

And of course, it was only a matter of time until someone made a Mighty No. ⑨ parody.

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y - the 6th generation confirmed!

Hmmm... they are still using the same Pokemon icons for how long now? 11 years maybe.

Apparently not only the cries for the older pokemon were updated, but also their little menu sprites~ xD

Official Sugimori artwork of the Mega forms of the Kanto starters.

Also, apparently you get your starter from your rival, and then when you meet the professor he gives you one of the Kanto starters as well.

Working on character design here. This is one of two possible protagonists in a shmup I'm headmaking, not yet named and referred to as Mister Red for now.

I still have to shade this, and I wouldn't be posting it right now if I didn't want feedback on the color scheme. But I do, so here he is with only the basic colors, easily alterable.

He's unarmed here, but he's one to go for big guns. I picture him with a huge-ass gatling gun in my head most of the time, and most of the doodles of him in my sketchbook have him that way. He's the "spray and pray" shot type, basically. That black thing on his back that's barely visible from this angle is a backpack with thrusters, basically what you could call a jetpack, and there are auxilliary thrusters in the sole of the boots. I'm basically making mecha combat on a human scale.

With that, the armor is very likely to change in subsequent iterations of the character design. I need to make it look more high tech, as well as add some more details so I can have some more color variation. Also, the armor is supposed to be not just armor, but a powered exoskeleton, so I need to figure out how to put the strength amplificating machinery in here. I could cheat and have a layer of artificial muscle on the underside of the armor, but I think actual machinery would look cooler.

Also, that machinery could include some sliding parts on the hands. Beam sabers of sorts are a common melee weapon in the setting, but I picture this guy with a sort of slide-on knuckle dusters. Not that that powered up punch is likely to get any use in a shmup, but I subscribe fully to Nintendo's "characters as actors" philosophy, so he may show up in a game of a different genre.

The dude himself may also change. He's certainly athletic, but I'm thinking maybe he could be just a little bit buffer. The hairstyle may have some changes. The nagaideburns are non-negotiable, though. They may change in size or spikiness, but they're staying. No better first glance indicator of a character's hot-bloodedness.

What are you thinking about right now?

Also, Yellow Magic's new avatar pic is made of win.

What are you thinking about right now?

I'm in Computer Engineering, not Computer Science, so I have the preparation of an engineer instead of just a computer tech, meaning Calculus up the wazoo. Ugh... As should be easy to see, I absolutely loathe it, as well as most of the engineering stuff. I'm just not made to be an engineer. But now I'm stuck in a situation where I either finish this or don't have the means to pay for an education in something I actuallly want.

And the first semester of the year is just about starting. I'm starting to feel depressed just thinking about it.

In other news, I'm trying to figure out bullet hell patterns. The simpler ones are just basic exercises in polar coordinates, but there's a certain complexity threshold where I begin to not be able to grasp the true form of the math behind the pattern. Eh, I probably shouldn't be looking at endgame Touhou patterns this early in the learning process. Not the game that uses spells instead of guns and as such is able to explain bullshit like this with "it's magic brah". (The timestamp doesn't seem to be working for me. If it also doesn't work for you, the moment I'm trying to link to is at 22:50.) Let's stick to actual bullets for now.

Vidya Games You’re The Most “Competitive” At

Latias is always the MVP.

I swear to god SubCM will never go out of style.

SubCM Latias is godly. It just doesn't die, and it can shut so many things down with a simple well timed Substitute. Like that time I subbed on an obvious Toxic from a Blissey that wasn't packing Seismic Toss and proceeded to effortlessly set up while laughing to myself. Or that time I predicted a switch to Weavile, which would normally place me on checkmate, and Subbed in response. Latias shrugged off the otherwise killing blow and OHKO'd with Dragon Pulse.

You know what, screw that. Substitute itself is god tier. It places you one step ahead of your opponent on the prediction game. It's a Get Out of Jail Free card for prediction mishaps. With it up, you can screw up once and come out unscathed. If you predict a switch but don't know to what, Substitute is always a safe choice. And to top it off it's also a great psychological warfare tool. No wonder it's my favorite move in the game.

Vidya Games You’re The Most “Competitive” At

I would be very competitive at fighting games if I was any good at them and had people to play with. Turns out I'm only above average and have some trouble executing complex command inputs and simple combos, and my only sparring partner is a friend from high school I only see occasionally. Still, I have a pretty decent Ryu, and if we talk Smash then I can hold my own pretty dang well with Pikachu, my main man since the 64 days. My favorites are the hectic over the top fighters in the style of Guilty Gear, though those are sadly the ones I am less skilled in.

I am more skilled in Pokémon. When some of the Computer Engineering guys at my university organized a Pokémon tournament, I jumped at it. I spent one week planning, testing and tuning my team, ending up with a semi-defensive rain team of Politoed, Tentacruel, Ferrothorn, Toxicroak, Latias and Keldeo, with Substitutes galore. I landed first place without a single defeat, though with all the people that brought ingame teams and other poorly thought out teamssome of my victories were certain. There were some people that gave me trouble, and those were the most fun of them all. My intended game plan was a Toxicroak sweep, but plans almost never go right when somene else is on the other side trying to disrupt them, so Latias ended up being my MVP.
