Top Ten Topic: Favorite RPGs

8: Final Fantasy 10 (I wasn't going to put this one, but hell, good story, pretty to look at, but extremely linear)
7: Parasite Eve (can we get a remake, please?)
6: Suikoden 2 (The first game to ever make me cry)
5: Star Ocean: Until the end of time (had many flaws, but a great story)
4: Super Mario RPG (adorable and funny)
3: Chrono Trigger (Everyone's nostalgic favorite!)
2: Lunar: Silver Star Story
1: Tales of Symphonia (No one mentioned this wonderful game!)

On a totally unrelated note, does anyone remember Clock Tower?

1. Super Mario RPG 2 (sequel maybe)
With the ORIGINAL characters. Not just Mario and Luigi.

Hell yeah! I was gonna say this one. Where's my boy Mallow? Can he get his own game? Maybe I should make one!

Resident Evil is a game I will never get sick of. (ironically wearing a RE t-shirt as I type this) Weather it's traditional RE1 or action RE4, I don't care just bring em on!

I would have said Tales of Symphonia 2 but they are totally making one and I am AMPED!

Those mummies seem to be more interested in going after me than the heroes.

Direction Problem

Try running a paralell process with a "Key input processing" command that only registers down. Make an auto event trigger to when that varible is (I think down is 4) and see if that starts the event.
This might better help determine your problem, but probably not fix it.

Moving Enemies

Unfortunately there is no way without a CBS. One thing I have done in the past is to have a monster "transform" into another one with different moves. You can use switches so that it will first transform (a new graphic with new moves) and then use a graphic specific skill. This means it will take two turns to act though, so I suggest doubling the Agility.
But if you want them to move toward the heroes... no dice.

Ridiculous projects ideas you've had in the past/present.

Phinal Breath of Phire Emblem Phantasy Star Oceanigma Phorty-Phour: The Quest phor Good Graphics (title still subject to change as other RPG titles conveniently fit into it)

The premise was, yes, an RPG that makes fun of RPGs. But, what would've made it interesting is that the game starts out 1-bit. Just 1-bit. You start out as a little white dot (the main character, appropriately named "Dot") on a big grey screen. After wandering around for some time, you encounter another white dot, called the "2-bit Orb." Upon activating it, the game would become 2-bit. And so, Dot's quest would become to pursue the 4-, 8-, 16-, 32-, and so on- Orbs, gradually making the world a bigger, better, and more detailed place.

The game would end when Dot and co. activate a graphics orb that isn't supported by the game's platform, causing the whole world to crash. The villains of the game would foresee this unfortunate ending and try to stop Dot before the world became too much and collapsed.

The sequel would pick up from the last game's ending on a new system that could support the new level of detail.

So, a nice idea, but it'd be pretty difficult to get much further than the 32-bit Orb in RM. Maybe that's where the game should crash, then...oh, and the letter "f" would not appear anywhere in the game. They would all be replaced with "ph," even in words like diphphicult. Take THAT, Phantasy Star!

Omg, that sounds cool! You should totally do that. Make it a really small like six or seven dungeon game.

Damage

Personally, I'm fine with damage in the hundreds. It's about the strategy of the battle, not using blunt-force trauma to bludgeon the enemy to death with huge-ass numbers to go along with it. I'd rather fight a ten-minute boss battle that's interesting doing damage in the hundreds with the boss only having, say, 6500HP than a boring space-bar mashing battle with me doing 5000+ damage and the enemy having 450000HP.

I totally agree. Hell, at least start small, so that when you get to level ninety-nine-bajillion you'll feel like you've actually gotten a lot stronger.

(UO)Map Design Fun #3

Not sure what the rules are. Used some objects from Character sets.

Mouse Control

Just as you are walking you can move the lantern all over the screen or set it in the middle and leave it there.
It's totally pointless, but is it annoying?

Dude, every single screen shot shows some guy outside a building with two of the same people watching the entrance. Let's see some variety and less empty space.
