Would U play an FFX 2D made with RM2K3? (first screenshot)
I remember the days of RM95 when I was trying to build a Legend of Zelda game followed by an FFVI sequel (tried to pull off side view battles using backgrounds lol). Then I played Crestfallen.
Fact is, it's going to take a couple of tries (maybe 3-5) before you actually start making anything somebody else besides yourself will enjoy.

This is a quick mockup of some tilesets/rips I combined (mainly Legacy of Kain and Theodore's chipsets). My intention is to use this for one of the more true-to-their roots Germanic tribes that Brunhilde encounters during Act 2 of the game. How does this combination look?
EDIT: Forgot to mention the stick structure above the fire is for a spit, I didn't stick an animal on there yet
Beta-Testing
I don't think there will be quite that many bugs, I've tried to thoroughly test as I go along - what I'm really wanting to test out is some of the balancing, and spots where I stray in terms of dialect (in this first chapter, the main races are the dwarves and the orcs, who are creatures from Niflheim that have gained passage to Nibelheim from a story arc - I wanted to use this mainly to bolster the surmounting army that is building up against Valhalla, since dwarves are depicted as weak and sort of foolish people in Wagner's play) - the dwarves kind of have a sloppy, ignorant sounding-dialect while the orcs, whom are really just the deceased who were sent to Niflheim versus Asgard/Valhalla, tend to have a blunt, rage-like approach yet with a semblance of intelligence behind them through words. The systems in the game are also something I'd like to see how people feel before I do a full release of the demo and then presentation - sometimes adding an extra second of wait time or eliminating it seems to do wonders.
I'm hoping by the end of the week at the very least I can get you guys a demo that may not include the quest menu - depending on how work pressures go.
What I'm really excited about is the freedom I have with the 2nd Act - between the creation of the Valkyries and beginning of the end of the act, I have some freedom to touch on aspects of not only the mythology the play was built on, but also some historical influence - my initial intro plan is to have a Brunhilde encounter with King Odacer of Italy (I am placing the story during the fall of the Western Roman Empire, which allows me to weave Dietrich von Bern into the story akin to the Nibelunglied) which foreshadows a historical event.
I will keep you guys updated.

Not so much a place of despair - this is where the Nibelung dwarves live, underground. This is actually a place of faith - a tree grows in the underground. I'm trying to stick to the true depiction of Germanic pagan faith in which places of worship are near a natural phenomenon. The blood is due to the sacrifices to the Gods.

Well, I have done that to an extent - there's regular cave areas, there's the underground city area, then there's the mines where there's wooden support beams and mine tracks, and then there's the western area which is more like a "countryside" type region (as much as I could do underground) which is still underground but I'm using a different chip for this (rudra caves) because I wanted brown caves because its more earthy there.
The chipset was not made by me though, but by theodore and many of the objects are ripped from various games. (The kiln for example is from Legacy of Kain and the gold piles from Actraiser (I believe)).

I'm a little worried about people getting sick of the caves that span almost the entire first Act. I did a change up on the final dungeons caves, using a different cave chipset and the mines have some mines specific additions, but you will probably spend 70% of the first act viewing essentially the same chipset.
Post your overlooked games here.
I'm working on Tales of Rhinemaidens which I plan to release hopefully this month, if not the next (I said this last month, but I've been swamped at work since the start of the year which has really limited the time I've had to work on it).
After I complete this first demo of Tales, I'd like to do a bug run through on my original game, Diary of a Madman, which at one time was definitely not overlooked, but of course that was during a time when games like Destiny's Call and A Blurred Line were being released, the former of which I have not seen around at all (although I have seen that Nicob is still around) and re-release it.
