ELDER71'S PROFILE

Hi, I'm Stephen, lead designer of OMNIS - The Erias Line.

Aspiring game-dev, societal drop-out, coffee drinker, chain vaper. Pixel tweaker. Location maker. Character dreamer-upper.

Also a part-time Parallax Mapper available on commission.
(contact me re: commissions at elder71@hotmail.co.uk)

ALSO - I like reviewing games. If you're looking to get your game fairly reviewed with constructive criticism/feedback, PM me or email me or otherwise contact me telepathically. My messenger-pigeon service is out of order following an unfortunate incident that involved a jumbo-jet engine.

Cheers,

This looks hot. I really like the idea. Love how creepy it looks.

Watching it back, I'm falling out of love with the current footsteps sound effect. Thoughts?

I think putting you in blue is a reference to something the game is drawing from? I could be wrong.

Edit: Oh, I guess you answered! Probably for the best~

The game is partly inspired by a novel called House of Leaves. Long story short, the word 'house' appears in blue every time it appears in that book, so it's also a little nod to that

Why is the word you always in blue

I do that on purpose. I'm carrying over a theme from the game itself. Just a bit of immersion fun times haha

I like the way you're going about making this! Very logical, and refreshing compared to just putting in what feels right. (As much as I like tropes and looser approaches, it's also good to see design decisions made for the utility of the thing~)

I like!

It's very easy to just put the obvious stuff in if you're not paying attention. It's a weird thing about anything creative, how easily borrowed/stolen ideas creep in without you noticing.

Doing my best to avoid it!

Back in the early 2000's I had some motion capture equipment (Gypsy) and I didn't have the special storage box so it needed to be kept on a mannequin when not in use. I eventually sold the equipment but I couldn't find a buyer for the mannequin. It just sat in the storage room.

Eventually it creeped out my roommate and he told me to hide it's face. So I put a bunch of fake blood on a white pillowcase and put the pillowcase over it's head, as well as giving it a fake blood covered toga.

Oh, my roomate screamed SO LOUD when he saw it.

Anyway, if I made a guess about mannequin symbolism, our main character here doesn't respect women and just sees them for their bodies. </completely unwarranted guess>

Well...
You're almost there :)

One thing I'm curious about is why he has mannequins in his house, is he a tailor of some sort?

Can't really explain it publicly at the moment - a lot is still subject to change, too.

This is more of a preliminary image :)

So far looks good. Just please for the love of all things make sure it works when you put it up for download. Even for a quick game functionality should be a priority.

An interesting and encouraging summation there.

re: technical proficiency: I'll play test it thoroughly, worry not.

edit:
Also, I'm currently ironing out my angle of approach to the story I have in mind. It's interesting, I think, but will need extremely deft handling to come across well.

OK. I'm so pumped though. Do you have an average date for release?

Some time in January, hopefully. Like I say, I'm making this just for the fun of bringing some ideas of to life, so I don't want to end up spending years on this.

The goal is a 'reasonably quick project', so getting it done and uploaded ASAP is a priority

Why isn't there a download option! I'm so anxious to play this game!!! I just love how you put no jumpscares because I have been searching for a game like this in a looong time.

Still in early stages of being made I'm afraid - because this is my first attempt at horror, I want to spend a lot of time making small changes until I've got the maximum amount of creepiness and disturbing-ness out of it that I can

This looks fantastic, though... art isn't necessarily about detail, it's about the way it makes you feel. And this makes me feel shivers.

Very glad to know that I'm on target so far!
