ELDER71'S PROFILE

Hi, I'm Stephen, lead designer of OMNIS - The Erias Line.

Aspiring game-dev, societal drop-out, coffee drinker, chain vaper. Pixel tweaker. Location maker. Character dreamer-upper.

Also a part-time Parallax Mapper available on commission.
(contact me re: commissions at elder71@hotmail.co.uk)

ALSO - I like reviewing games. If you're looking to get your game fairly reviewed with constructive criticism/feedback, PM me or email me or otherwise contact me telepathically. My messenger-pigeon service is out of order following an unfortunate incident that involved a jumbo-jet engine.

Cheers,

S.E

A wall - it's invisible for the sake of being able to see inside the house, rather than obscure things with an opaque or transparent near wall.

Never never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever oh shit no no nono nonononononononono never! "orz. I'm scared.

I back everything up daily to two different locations. But still, the savage setback that laptop death would cause to the project....

I think I'd consider sacrificing a finger to be a preferable loss.

Four hours per enemy seems like three weeks non-stop for a full beastairy <3.

Of course we all know that's impossible. Brain needs to eat references and love (?).

It's always upon finishing a battler that I appreciate myself for how much work OMNIS has taken. Then I torment myself by imagining a fatal computer crash and having to start all over again...pixel by pixel....*shudders*

Ah I probably just missed it. I wasn't checking my mini map as often early on. Also I was playing in window mode which made it a bit harder to see since the game has a lot going on visually.

It's probably a slight oversight on my part, but the thing was designed from top to bottom to be played full screen. I made the text larger to try and help the 'window play' experience, but everything that I tested by eye I tested in full screen :S So yeah, I know things look at bit busy in normal res. It's something I'll factor in when we get round to making new content.

Thanks for the prompt response. I'll be sure to take a look at it again in the future.

Also my last comment makes it sound like I got frustrated in the first map but I actually wondered around that entire first section and was unable to find a way to progress. I did find stairs but there was a gap. Then I returned to the start point and kept getting that repeat encounter which wore my patience down.

There's a path to take to the left of the top of the stairs. Maybe it needs to be a bit clearer.

I really want this like the game. The aesthetic and setting seem cool. But the random encounter rate seems a little too high. Especially in that initial area. Plus the fights repeat often. I couldn't find a save point in that initial area so I quit.

Orphan's knife combo was pretty fun. I did appreciate the added interactivity. I might attempt it again in the future but was really getting frustrated getting the same encounter over and over and being unable to run from it.

I'll have a look at changing up the variety of encounters in the initial area and taking the encounter rate down a touch. I'll also add a SP to the Loading Bay, so players can have a checkpoint right after the opening credits. Version 15 is coming later today, so hopefully these points will have been fixed.

I really doubt that Win 8 is the sole cause of the issue. Like a lot of the other issues that occur when RM games are played in Win 8. I played your game, and all other RM games, just fine in Win 8. It's usually an issue with the type of hardware of that PC not being fully compatible with Win 8, or the parts of the OS that are used to run these old programs, or something along those lines.

These kinds of random, non-recreatable errors pop up in many games and there is nothing you can do about it. That person can do a few basic things, like run in admin mode or compatibility mode, but just ask them to play it on someone else's computer. Don't pull your hair out trying to make your game work for every PC/OS configuration out there.

Yeah, the final thought of that agreed theory was that I couldn't do anything to help. Blast was reviewing at the time so I helped in getting past the crashes by sending editing save files, but once I'd established that it wasn't an event causing the problem, I realised there was nothing I could really do.

Amazing

Will there be, in a distant future, the option to blow things up? I imagine myself using a bomb there just to see what's behind those doors. And depending on how interested in not breaking laws the main characters are, I could imagine myself killing some guards from time to time <3. Crimes crimes crimes...

Whatever! Gratz for the spotlight!

Thanks! I'm conscious of delving into spoilers for the yet unfinished parts of the game, but you may be onto something with the bomb planting theory :)

Interesting game you have here, I quite like it's style.
About the random crash, have you asked blastfury's system specs? Ace tends to crash on lower end machines in particularly event(or script) intensive areas. Another possibility is the famous graphic disposing bug. Are you using the bugfix for it? Go here if you aren't. Good luck with your debugging!

Yah, I've got Mithran's debugger plugged in and doing it's thing already. Actually, Galv originally recommended it, which is why he gets a special thanks in the opening credits.

I think the theory me and Blast agreed on was that the problem was Windows 8.1 - and if the problem is with anything other than the scripts/events it's well beyond my knowledge to even begin fixing. That's super frustrating (I want to help as many people as possible who're experiencing problems).

I say this so often that it must have started to sound like just a tagline, but good feedback is like Christmas morning to me so thank you for the comment :)

Imliss' Theme. To be quite honest, I'll never get over that theme. It's just way too amazing.

It's my favourite too.
