ELDER71'S PROFILE

Hi, I'm Stephen, lead designer of OMNIS - The Erias Line.
Aspiring game-dev, societal drop-out, coffee drinker, chain vaper. Pixel tweaker. Location maker. Character dreamer-upper.
Also a part-time Parallax Mapper available on commission.
(contact me re: commissions at elder71@hotmail.co.uk)
ALSO - I like reviewing games. If you're looking to get your game fairly reviewed with constructive criticism/feedback, PM me or email me or otherwise contact me telepathically. My messenger-pigeon service is out of order following an unfortunate incident that involved a jumbo-jet engine.
Cheers,
S.E

I love this.
Cheers :)
I have to say I'm pretty happy with it. Looks even better now I've finished making 30+ guest sprites to fill it up.

Test Footage, "Bria - Shadow"
Thank you folks!
James (composer) is working on an amazing piece of music to accompany this scene, I'm really excited to see it all working in tandem. Capturing the 'dancing' motions of the shadows is gonna be tricky, but it's not a bad start if I do say so myself :)

Single whammy:
author=Vegnarusauthor=Elder71Yeah I figured that you just made an error with the order or something like that. Glad to hear that it can be fixed easily!
I do try - although, it's weird that I don't notice obvious things until they're pointed out. Should be a simple case of reorganising the animation sequence this time.
Well, that's the hope. I've had to animate it using variables rather than a move route, so it's just a question of altering the variable's values..

Way better than the last one! But are there 2 identical frames at the end of the loop? I think it switches between the identical ones at the end.
But still, way to go man! Your willingness to work on these details is commendable!

Despite the frames u pointed out that bonfire looks so livid and beautiful.
Thumbs up m8 good work ;)
Spent 3 hours today adding 4 new frames and a 'rising smoke' effect. Confoundedly, it's still not quite a smooth as I want it, but I'd say it looks a lot better so far with the extra work.

Excellent work.
Your efforts were worth it.
Thank you - although Vegnarus has pointed out that the four frames of animation don't quite gel fluidly, so I'll be adding a few more to cut out the 'jump' from from 4 back to frame 1.
Double whammy:

I checked the video and the after one looks pretty good man! I know what a pain photoshop can be.
But here's a tip, make the last frame such so that when the animation restarts, the 1st frame will look like a natural progression from the last one so that the whole loop will look smoother and not stutter.
Or use more frames and do what I said if possible for an even better effect.
Creating 4 more frames should, in theory, be do-able. I tried making them run 1,2,3,4 then 4,3,2,1, but it just looked like the flames were moving in reverse.
Yes, all in all you're right, there's a kind of 'jump' that needs sorting.
