Release Something Weekend

Gentlemen.

Your opinions on the DmC reboot?

This game wouldn't get 80% of the hate it gets if it weren't called "DmC".
The premise doesn't sound particularly bad, and gameplay has received no complains so far,
most of the hate comes from having a char and universe we already were familiar with changed a lot.

This, of course, is merely my opinion based on what I've read and heard about the game, I haven't actually played it.

You get the hidamaris Ocean.

we have so many more chests way less confusing pathways.

Honestly no :/
your pathways were many things except intuitive imo, and couple that with an extremely annoying encounter rate, I pretty much closed the game during my first play through to try other things, it just wasn't fun, and even if you say 60 and it is 60, it sure as hell didn't feel like 60 :P

RPG Maker VX Ace Lite Cook Off!

I found time to play some of the games today, here are my thoughts so far. These are all mostly notes I write as I play,so screw format.

Subterreanean Starfield (Still playing)
-ffff this opening theme. Too good.
-Pretty system sounds, as expected of nessxrhyme.
-Picked casual difficulty. Sorry gais I'm a mere mortal ;w;
-Did I mention SUBTERRENEAN STARFIELD is a clever name? it sure is.
-Wow text box. One of those. HOW DO YOU DO THIS WITH LITE moments. too good ;w;
-Oh man. This music. again ;A; aaaa
-dat bloom effect. so much ambiance going on thanks to it.
-These maps are REALLY well made. In your face parallax mappers!
-town music so peaceful. so good.
-dungeon, here I go.
-ffff pretty text overlays.
-Good encounter rate. I like the fact the meter kinda helps me see it coming, instead of abruptly interrupting my exploration.
-Fun battles and cute battlers, no graphical clash whatsoever~
-I think I'm playing the future people's choice winner game rite here. Gonna be hard for other entries to top this now. STAY TUNED.
-Dungeon layout is elaborate, but sort of intuitive to navigate through.
-Definitely doesn't feel like a default RM game, great job so far~

The Grumpy Knight (Still playing)
-Sticks very well to a non serious theme. Dat slice of life.
-Some grammar issues with the letter, must be fixed to improve the experience~
-Many instances of the word Inane, but that's fine~
-Lovely boat CG. LOVELY.
-I didn't give a shit about the reason I must go hunt for monsters.feels good.
-Lawl those damage pop-ups look great in action.
-Wtf book die. so much HP.
-Oh man first fight is raping me.
-You guys love heavy hitters huh? ;w; barely survived the first fight with 3 hp lolol.
-Full heal after fights? Do want.
-I want victoria as a party member ;~;
-Maps are pretty. Good music choices too, and no complains about the dialogue so far.
-Why must all attacks chip 50%.
-REALLY. I died to that mermaid?. She hit me twice.

Dragons' Descendants (Still paying)

-The small world map sprite was a nice touch.
-Text cut-ins before battles are a nice touch.
-Maps are a bit too bare and empty, no real incentive for exploration.
-Encounter rate a bit high, discourages exploration
-loving Camelia's overall theme.
-Something about the dialogue doesn't appeal to me.
-Had to quit in the first dungeon after the encounter rate made me get sick of battles. Trying to explore around in a confusing layout, in order to advance the story, while getting 321321x random encounters thrown at me was no fun :(
-I like the elaborate mechanics behind skills so far. combat is pretty balanced as well! I'm a sucker for multi-hits.
-Camelia best char.
-Overall the game is a solid effort so far, and I'll play it until the end as with all other entries, though it doesn't stand out the way Subterranean, grumpy and reaper did to me, feels more "default" than the games I mentioned.
-And oh man. The battle song is too catchy.

Reaper (Completed)
-Osnap custom charsets and portraits, nice~
-Charsets are pretty well done
-Oh some Cg thrown in as well~
-Liking the soothing melody.
-Dat scream upon dying.
-The button layout confuses me.
-The S menu is really buggy.
-Even though I found the concept kinda poorly executed at first I like the amount of exploration I can do around the house. Most things I interacted with had a text window which hinted background story going on.
-At some point Stamina didn't seem to replenish properly, however I liked the concept of the system. There were parts where I would be like FFFF as she stopped in a dangerous corridor lolol.
-Should've mentioned one can slay enemies when you are behind them in the tutorial.
-Once I realized how enemy slaying worked, it was kinda fun to figure out the right chance
to sneak up on them and kill them. The system itself had some bugs, but it was a nice concept at least.
-So what's the difference between having the Scythe out and not having it out? There doesn't seem to be an inherent advantage to not having out, so I just kept it out the entire time.
-....suddenly I could grab the ladder?oh well. That's good.
-The minigame was cool and unexpected. But I died. might have been a nice idea to prompt the player to save right after getting the ladder, as I had to backtrack a lot to get to that point once more.
-...So I just had to run in a straight line?
-I kinda had already realized they were vulnerable to the scythe lol, That sequence after the minigame felt sort of random.
-Dialogue and events in cutscenes...still feeling a bit random.
-I liked the guiding light. Made me feel I wasn't gonna waste time looking for the remedy somewhere.
-Buggy systems and menus, but overall a nice first effort.
-Dialogue needs work and formatting.
-So the reaper can't kill her because "She has a few years left", but his minions can? kind of strange.
-Did I just kill the only likeable minion? Lol.
-...seriously, add the feature of saving before potential game-over events.
-Dream-ish corridor section: Oh sneaky. I'll forgive this game over as I finally see a point to having the scythe out and not having it out, though there should have been more sections like this earlier in the game, would have had more impact.
-cool final minigame, must say. pretty cool downright to the use of sound sequences.
-Haha I got screwed over by my stamina in one of the sections. That's a nice element. I actually had to pay attention to how much I was dashing. Maybe a meter would have been nice.
-THE END. really??
-No explanations whatsoever, no final lines.Feeling Kinda robbed here guys. lolol.
-Overall I'd say you guys did okay for having little experience in RM and worked with a limited version of the engine!
The concept of the game was interesting, but it could have had much better execution, right now it is stuck between wanting to be a serious and a light hearted game, the plot is sort of a mess, however the established gameplay is solid enough for this to be called an exploration game. In many instances, again, the biggest issue I found outside of glitchy systems(which you guys will easily fix~) was the pacing of the game, your characters need work and so does the dialogue. Keep it up, I think you guys have potential!
average playtime: 30 minutes.

Nacht:
-Oshi dat font.
-the intro has a nice, strong hook.
-Pretty cool custom graphics.
-Digging the zone system.
-Digging it a lot actually.
-Cool transition into battle
-Might be nice to include a counter for imminent combat
-Battle system is clean and simple. I like that.
-Ohh cool log hopping
-Oshi Leander battle cut in.
-FINALLY ARRIVED TO ZE TOWN (see what I did thar).

RPG Maker VX Ace Lite Cook Off!

I've played through most entries this morning, so far my favorites to win or gain some recognition are grumpy Knight, Nachteulen and Subterranean Starfield.

The engine entry for your team doesn't matter anyways, only the end product!
That's the spirit :D

[Poll] What is your favourite Final Fantasy battle system?

Probably ATB.
Despised FFXII's system, and that's the last FF I played :(
Not because of that ofc, but it just happened to be that way lol.
