Golden Age - 12 Part Radio Drama

"The world is on the cusp of a new age, but will it be one of peace and prosperity or will the shadow of darkness spread to engulf what little remains? Three heroes separated by space but joined by destiny, each struggle with their own trials. The freelancer Edge, who must play the role of guide against his will. The assassin Dante, who is more than he appears to be, and the errant knight Mia, who finds herself suddenly in mortal danger. What awaits them is unknown, but they hold within them the promise of a new Golden Age . . ." - NARRATOR 1.1

Golden Age is a twelve part audio-drama set within a unique and original world. Episodes will be airing through both traditional radio in the United Kingdom and available through this website to listen to for free online. Written and produced by Cascade Studios, this marks our first forray into audio-production and aims to produce an entertaining fantasy series with a very British flavour. In addition to the main-show a selection of world-spanning extras have been devised especially for the listeners, including special Webisodes and a fully functional pen and paper Roleplaying game. Golden Age is an audio treat that you can enjoy both in the comfort of your home and from your desk at work, brought to you by hard working individuals from every field that have pulled together to produce this fantastic series.

RPG Maker marriage proposal

I'd be amused to know what the game was programmed to DO if she said no.

EX: endless loop - 'are you SURE?'

Stat customization - How do you think it should be done?

I created a game demo where the main character had a 'Bonus Board' he visited in-game set out like a traditional boardgame. Each time he levelled he got the usual bonuses, but through sub-quests and exploration he could find 'move points' that allowed him to further explore the board, with each square having a particular bonus set to it. Some were a simple offence/defence choice with a +2 bonus whilst others allowed for the learning or levelling of skills.

Something fun that the user can feel like they're doing in-game to make themselves better and feel a sense of progression is always a boon.

Working in teams: Yay or nay?

I worked closely with psy_wombats on Golden Age: Endless Dungeon and we both seemed to push eachother to do the best we could and production really sped up. On bigger projects I think a lot of people want full control to really craft their characters. I'd group up again for the right project in an instant, as it was very enjoyable.

Discussion: Terminator RPG

There is quite a lot of possibility for the setting - the last film proved that, and that hadn't even reached the point of desperation we saw in Kyle's flashbacks through the first film. Whilst I agree that original games are usually best, there's nothing at all wrong with a little fandom - and at least it wouldn't be ANOTHER Final Fantasy clone.

A tight cast and lack of NPCs would put a closer focus on characterisation for those that you did have. Since the setting has Humans an endangered species and constantly on the move. I'd take the standpoint of giving every NPC in the story a name and a character of their own that you can learn about - that way the player feels more connected to them and wants to activly protect them - feeling worse if/when the plot calls for deaths or he fails.

But don't make the T-800 series throw-away baddies. By all means have loads of various pre-made types of machines, but ensure that when a real Terminator strolls into the room it's a 'we're all screwed now' moment.

Does any of that help? :)

Did you want to make an RPG/Game? Be honest!

I went to the net originally LOOKING for a program to help me make RPG games - and at the time I found the original RPG Maker 95! Imagine how relieved I was when 2000 turned up!

Java Game Development?

Trust me on this one psy_wombats knows his stuff on this - I was amazed at the work and the speed he did Golden Age: Endless Dungeon with me.

I'm very glad to hear it - it was my first time Spriting from scratch too :)

RPG Maker 2000 on vista?

Interestingly Windows 7 is fully 2000 compatable and Vista isn't - which speaks volumes on Vista (annoying to use, ugly to look at and darn fiddly!) I'll keep trying though :)

RPG Maker 2000 on vista?

Is there any way to install and run 'RPG Maker 2000' onto a 'Windows Vista' machine? My laptop died with a large ongoing game still unfinished on it and the replacement I have for now is running Vista. If I can't continue my game I will be mighty annoyed.
