Planning your RPG

Much of what I do is very spontaneous- I just have a general idea of where I want the story to go. As for how I originally got the idea, I can't remember where I started or anything, as that was years ago. >.<

@Euphorian
Thank for your comment. I'm glad you like the game ^ ^.

Are the other sound effect are quiter than the bgm as well? I was going to normalize all the sound in the game to have the same level of volume but I didn't have time. (This game was for RMXP contest and done in two months) And I'm too busy on the other game to update this one lol. I hope adjusting the bgm and se volume in option would help solve that problem :S

Did you install the font that come with the game? Without it, you won't see your score, lives , levels and your exp. You'll really need to see all those parameters in order to upgrade your ship.

Many complain about the amount of dialog too. My bad. I should have implemented the skip the cutscene option. But I just want people to really read the story before they move on in the story. If you repeat the same stage, you will have an option to skip the cutscene.

Happy gaming!

Oh, hi. XD Didn't notice this. I don't remember the other sound effects being too quiet, no. I think they were fine. Just Len's speech, was a bit fuzzy and quiet to really hear.
And, no, I didn't notice a font, that would be good then. >><
As for skip scene, it's good, that you put it in for repeats, however, what I found annoying was when I died on a level, and got Game Over, I would have to go through the same dialog at the beginning again, but still couldn't skip it. So, yeah, putting it in anyway is probably good. Most people will read it, I expect.

At the same time, your dialog still seems excessive. In writing, the principle is (and I'm rather bad at following this myself): Each line should either advance the story or advance character development.
Now, as I recall, the advancement of the story in those lines was pretty thin. Most of it was character development. Another theory says that each character takes 25 lines to fully develop, and 25 lines to develop a relationship between two characters. So, while I can see the point here, your character development is so... blatant that that much talking isn't really necessary. For a shooter game especially. Even in an RPG it would be pushing it, though. Most of it really just seems unnecessary.

That's just the sense, I got, though.

Game Inspirations?

Specifically, Tales of Symphonia and Golden Sun (more so Lost Age).
However, any sort of good movie or something I see tends to give me some ideas and inspiration, regardless of if I use them or not.

I just tried this. Wow, like really, wow. Sure, the circles and triangles for enemies are a bit square (*shot*) but this runs pretty smoothly and definitely looks professional quality. For a shooter game, there is a bit much dialog, but it's to develop the characters right? It works well enough, and is bearable.
I got to the boss of the second mission, and then lost, so bleh. But this is pretty damn good for an RM game. The art is very smooth too, and put to good use in the game, I see.

This might have just been me over-looking it, but I never saw just where the remaining lives were... Also, very rarely could I understand what Len was saying. The sound was just a bit fuzzy and quiet compared to the background music. Oh well. Pretty good over all.

your game features

I'd say there's a considerable difference between features and extraneous features, no? Features are important, extraneous ones are just cool (hopefully...). It's the latter that need not be so worried about. Yay for bullet-point fodder.

In Second Reality:
-Custom Battle System
-Action Battle System
-Custom Menu System
-Message System
-Separated Weapon/Armor development
-Style changing

Cyborg?

1. Harry McDougal- From Outlaw Star. He's the only Robot/Droid/Cyborg/Mechanoidthing character from anything that I can think of that I like at all. But he's awesome. :p

...never seen any transformer type media (show/game/movie/comicbook/whateverelse) in my life. :p

Forwarding ports help

On this topic, I have a similar problem- even though I've done the port forwarding process according to several different websites multiple times, uTorrent still doesn't recognize the ports as open. Why would that be?

We Did It First screenshot thread

I would say if you could edit the chipset colors to a more dull greenish blue, it would convey it better. It really isn't bad though.
