X-COM

Any of you play any X-COM games before? And of course I don't just mean the Firaxis 2012 reboot, but also UFO Defense, Terror From the Deep, Apocalypse, and even Xenonauts. X-COM is the utmost agony when the last soldier - the last ray of hope - misses a 95% shot, and gets the entire squad killed (the professional term is squadwipe). It is also the satisfying feelings of pride and joy when you've overcome what seemed to be the hardest setback and come out victorious.

NewBlack introduced Xenonauts and X-COM as a genre back in July 2014, and I've been madly in love with it since then. Still playing either XCOM2012 or Xenonauts until this day, and not sure when I'm gonna graduate.

Ys Series

author=Wikipedia
Ys is a Japanese hack & slash RPG series, and Nihon Falcom corporation's flagship franchise. In terms of the number of game releases, Ys is second only to Final Fantasy as the largest Eastern RPG series.The first game of the series was released in early 1988 by Falcom. Ys series was originally solely for Japanese audience. It wasn't until 2003 when Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim came out that Ys was known by the Western audience (actually, the rest of the world).

The Ys series chronicles the adventures of Adol Christin, a young man with a zest for adventure and an uncanny knack for being in the right place at the right time. Gameplay usually revolves around Adol, though his comrade, Dogi, is a frequent companion in his travels. Thus far, Adol has visited the regions of Esteria, Ys, Celceta, Felghana, Xandria, the Canaan Islands, and Altago. Among which, Celceta is the place where the upcoming Ys title on PS Vita Ys: Foliage Ocean in Celceta takes place in (obviously).

I have been a big fan of it or Nihon Falcom in general ever since childhood (or at least I usually claim to be) that Adol is basically my hero even until this day :<

I beat Ys I&II Chronicles+ (available on Steam along with Felghana and Origin) a couple of weeks ago, and wrote an article about the (bad) design decisions in it, being a remake of an ancient 1985 game, if you're interested!

Anybody else also a fan of this series? :D

Alexels

I started picking up Pixel Art back in March-April of last year (2012). From then until now I've been spending a majority of my free time on practicing pixel art or making pixel art game assets. Here are some of my most proud of artwork that I've made over this exact time span.

These are in fact the only select few of my work that I *think* I'm allowed to showcase. Most of the work I've done are for projects and bound to exclusivity. Some of them are part of Restaff Releases on RPGMakerWeb.

Criticism is welcome. Although I most likely won't make any adjustments as most of these were finished quite a while ago.

These battlers were made for project Reincarnation led by Hirei & Archeia.

These are for In Search of Immortality by Indrah & Fomar0153

These are from several ReStaff Releases over at RPGMakerWeb

This one is a pixel adaptation of Akiko 2 made by omocha-san over at DeviantArt. This one was mainly for fun, experimentation and anatomic study.
