Released my current work-in-progress version of WingGirl/Pathways:

Shika's routes are now implemented - if not really finished.

If anybody would be willing to test out Shika (or the others for that matter) I'd greatly appreciate any feedback.

Hints:
You can play her well enough even if ignoring anyone but her. Himeko might give you some valuable pointers, if you accept her help, though - and there might be ... interference if you include the others or even the build-ins.

Late in her story there's a PHONE call were you have two paths to choose from (Personality or Soul). Your choice DOES have a DRAMATIC impact on her, since she's hasn't an entirely stable mentality.

If you use your intiution to help her with her real problem you can help her heal and eventually you'll get her "sweet" ending.

If you just use your charms on her she'll get very affectionate ... and clingy ... and possesive ...
You then *have* to keep her happy to get the "bitter sweet" ending. Or else.

*EDIT*: forgot one file. Dread. WITH this file it doesn't fit my locker any more :(

I have a little issue regarding Garage's tachie generator that needs to be remedied.

I can not seem to get the thing to function, regardless of what I do. >_>

Sad to here this :(

Could you please give me some more details, like what exactly you did/tried and when you downloaded what?

Do you get any error messages? I just redownloaded it from here and it worked.

Hello! Here's my more detailed post regarding my CC "Grace Tanaka" (currently using the ID 130; I'd like to reserve it) in the technical thread (as kindly recommended by Garage)

Definitely this bug is part of what makes her unplayable, although I'm pretty sure there might be other things I could've missed.

STORY 710 accidentally played when I had just met Grace. Extremely fatal since this essentially blocks off all contact with Grace (it's what's intended for that particularly "cutscene" though.) I realized that I forgot to set the proper conditions for that story, so I just corrected it by adding the following conditions:

CONDITION = 709 DONE
CONDITION = 708 NOT DONE
CONDITION = 712 NOT DONE

Also, here are Grace's other "Bad End" scenes (a.k.a. scenes that indicate you'll never meet her or get to call her again) for reference, since I have a feeling they're part of what's making Grace unplayable (since one small mistake in setting CONDITIONS for them can make Grace accidentally go away)

STORY 707
CONDITION = 706 DONE
CONDITION = 709 NOT DONE

STORY 716
CONDITION = 715 DONE
Added: CONDITION = 718 NOT DONE

STORY 718
CONDITION = 715 DONE
CONDITION = 717 NOT DONE

OK ... a few basic pointers ...

First: your STORY 701 should be an INTRODUCE event. You use her ID for the very first time here (in this path).
author=Mr. Helpfile
Only characters who have appeared in an Introduce story are eligible to appear in any subsequent stories, whether custom or generic. To put that another way, if a story event contains anywhere in its body the command "ID =" for a character whose Introduce story has not yet been played, that story will not be played, even if it includes other "ID =" commands for characters who have been introduced. This restriction does not apply to branches.

INTRODUCE event does not mean you have to formally introduce her to the player as in "let's exchange names" ... it just marks the first usage of her ID.

Second: some of your STORY's are merely there to be jumped to, which is a quite normal technique. The easiest way to prevent them from being directly run by the game (and thus break things) is like this:

STORY 777
CONDITION = 777 DONE
PLACE = Whateveryouwant
ID = 0
Huh? What happend?

The trick is the CONDITION = 777 DONE line. Thus STORY 777 can't appear before 777 is run - and since it's not repeatable it won't happen AFTER it's been seen anyway.
This effectively disables the STORY - for normal use by the game itself. It can only play out if there's a direct JUMP to it.

This is far easier for "just jump to it" STORYs then way you're doing it.

Asides from this, there's a STORY i found that can't be played at all:
STORY 724
PHONE = 130
PRIORITY = High
CONDITION = 723 DONE
CONDITION = 130 LIKE
CONDITION = 130 NOT NEUTRAL

130 LIKE means "Grace at least LIKEs him". 130 NOT NEUTRAL means "Grace doesn't even feel 'NEUTRAL' about him".

There's no way that both conditions can be met at the same point in time.

@Marrend: what's your policy on me using Emiko/station_night.jpg in my content? Shall I copy it over to my project or shall I just reference it like this.

PICTURE = Emiko/station_night.jpg

(and include an almost empty Tachie\Emiko folder within my project). (Provided I am allowed to use it in the first place)

Well life's still busy now (even more so than before, actually) but...for some reason, I just HAD TO try my hand at making a custom character so here you go!

...

Let me know what you think of her. :) Haven't tested her 100% in actual gameplay yet, but her conditions and branches work pretty well in Story Test.

I tried her out. I really like "Grace" and your stories ...

The only thing is, that you really should have a look or two at how things are wired in those stories. Currently it's not really playable.
If you need help with some of the issues, I'd be glad to help you in the technical thread.

But it seems there's a slight bugfix for one of Hinami's stories too.
(Akari wouldn't chase someone around!)

And - above all - a change to Game.rgssad ... as far as I understand that's basically the game itself.
That change sounds oddly familiar. That post was made on the exact date of that update too. Interesting. I can't speak of/to any changes to Game.rgssad, though.
As for Game.rgssad: there are many possibilities. I don't know the file format, but some container file formats include time stamps for each and any part that they contain. Just rebuilding something from the axact same source might lead to a "binary files differ" for the resulting image.
On the other hand, there's a (minor) size change (less then one KB) too, so my guess is that there was at least a minor change to the content ...

... the build-in STORY aren't (for whatever reason) part of what's bundled into Game.rgssad?

EDIT: Nevermind. My first download was from the official site. (I redownloaded it from there and the file was identical to my very first download).

Seems like that final change never made it there ...

...
Sure. Give me a bit to update...

Thanx.

Huh. According to the "Manage Games" screen, the download for version 2.5 was last updated in 2014. I'm not sure what to make of that.
Weird.

I extracted both downloads (under Linux) and ran a compare:
~/cmp> diff -r 201*
Binary files 2015/Heartache 101 v2.5/Game.rgssad and 2016/Heartache 101 v2.5/Game.rgssad differ
diff -r "2015/Heartache 101 v2.5/Story/Built-in/game_stories_7.txt" "2016/Heartache 101 v2.5/Story/Built-in/game_stories_7.txt"
1254c1254
< (Akari chased the poor boy around the roof.)
---
> (Hinami chased the poor boy around the roof.)
Only in 2015/Heartache 101 v2.5/Tachie/Built-in: Thumbs.db
Binary files 2015/Heartache 101 v2.5/Thumbs.db and 2016/Heartache 101 v2.5/Thumbs.db differ
The two "Thumbs.db" differences are of no importance. Thumbs.db is just a cache Windows(?) uses for storing preview-thumbnails of a directory containing pictures.

But it seems there's a slight bugfix for one of Hinami's stories too.
(Akari wouldn't chase someone around!)

And - above all - a change to Game.rgssad ... as far as I understand that's basically the game itself.

I'm pretty sure that I haven't been around this place in 2014 ...

As for the picture for Winggirl - Pathways, my logic was that there was a profile included, and it was Shika's. So, even if she's not particularly well-implemented (at least right now), the "cover" for that content should include her.
Well ... how about this, then (no the scene isn't really part of pathways - not yet)

Download updated!The file should now include Winggirl - Pathways. Nakamura Ai is slated to be cut for the next update, which should be June of next year.

Enjoy!
Wow. Didn't expect you to update in december.

About teaser and discription: Could you please swap Shika for Merika, since that routes are much closer to being completed? (Merika's profile is in WingGirl - most of her story is in WingGirl::Pathways. ... Not the best way to do things, I conceed)

EDIT:
Eh ... I redownloaded the game itself, and it somehow shrunk by 5 KB?

How come?

Content creation (technical)

Found a fancy bug in the game.

If there are - for what ever reason - lines which are comment out twice like this:

# Player agreed to help Shika
STORY 9080
CONDITION = 9080 DONE

# Player met Hiroaki thru Shika
#STORY 9081

## Player tutored Shika
## STORY 9082
## CONDITION = 9082 DONE

# Player owes Shika "one"
STORY 9083
CONDITION = 9083 DONE
Game.exe stops loading the rest of the file completely. (save this example in a file and try to test STORY 9083. Then retry after replacing all "##" by "#")

Current beta of WingGirl / Pathways:
All routes to Mayumi and Merika should be playable. Shika is disabled for now.

WingGirl
Pathways

Pathways is an extension to WingGirl and thus requires it to be installed, too. Clean mode can be ON (or off)
