What was the first game you ever played?

Hot Street Rod in glorious CGA graphics.

Street Rod 2 became one of the staples I played on the ol' 286 although I never beat it (Damn those Mullenhound (sic) races!)

DISCUSS: NPCs

If the choices of interactive NPCs resulted in any sort of consequences, then sure. KotOR and NWN had mostly meager results in a minor alignment shift. In NWN2, your interaction with your party members influences who would do what at the endgame, a much more significant consequence. In Fallout you could, through NPC interaction (and sufficient skill levels), defeat a boss without having to fight him.

If the options don't have any consequences ("NPC: Please save the world! You: Choice A: Yes. Choice B: Yes *scowl*"), then no, interactive NPCs are just wasted effort that could be better spent elsewhere for better results.

Aside: And neutrality is a very important option. Interactive NPCs have an annoying tendancy to be "I am a Saint and I give all my money to starving orphans on fire" or "I EAT BABIES" which just hurts. Don't use extremes without a middleground.

*edit*
I think KotOR2 had exposition in the dialogue choices of your character, which is nice too. Really, I think Obsidian did choices better than Bioware, but I can't say for certain as I never beat KotoR1/NWN1)

Just a question

Camstudio, Audacity (Camstudio doesn't like my soundcards), and VirtualDub here. All free.

Please don't use an actual camera. You'll just get a horrible video that's painful to watch. Screencapture programs are the way to go.

Why now..

Sony? Buid reliable products? Hogwash.
My PS2 was the first console that I ever had to perform maintainance on, and later on it it went up and died (although that was mostly my fault, but I only opened the thing again because it wouldn't work with my Sony component cables)

When I first got my Wii, its GPU was damaged or something, I kept getting black artifacts all over the place. When I called in about it, Nintendo was a lot better than this story and told me what I had to do to send it back for free (well, it could've costed money if I didn't have spare boxes and foamies lying around) and they just replaced my Wii in a week or so.

FFXII Discussion topic

*insert obligatory Zodiac Spear remark here*

Oh well, I doubt that I would use it even if I did get it.

I got somewhere, Tomb of somebody, beat the Demon Wall and put the game down and I really haven't gotten back to it. The combat system isn't bad or anything though, I'm just not really feeling any drive to play the game.

Also that job system sounds neat, but I'm a sucker for job systems :(

Civilization Series Discussion

Civ 2 was awesome. That was one of the best PC games from my childhood, especially booting up the WW2 scenario and steamrolling Europe as Stalin. The new ones weren't half as interesting (No zones of control? What the hell? I'm not a fan of how combat is displayed either) and I only really play the game with a Civ fanatic buddy of mine nowadays.

Boss Project...

Good time for me to start checking this site again :P

Top Ten Topic: Arcade Games

In Kentona's definition of Arcade games, then I'd say...

Probably just Asteroids. The rest were games I'd play for about 5 minutes before losing interest. Asteroids was best at keeping my attention, if for anything just to blow shit up.

I also completely forgot about the D&D arcade game. I only saw it once or twice in actual machine form so I never got the complete experience until much later. The best of its genre that I've played.

Top Ten Topic: Arcade Games

You're too old Kentona, I've never seen an arcade with any of these games (exceptpossibly Pacman). My idea of arcade games is the Capcom massive 2d action games like Knights of the Round, and of course, Street Fighter. There's others, like Virtua Cop too.

My favorites would probably be...

- The Simpsons Arcade game
- Virtua Cop
- Knightsof the Round

And, uh, that's all I really remember playing. I never had many quarters in my youth :(

Ahahaha, oh no...

Is that Simulation RPG Maker 95?
