JPARKER1984'S PROFILE
Jparker1984
2008
Hello all, my real name is Jeromy. I'm a video game fan in general, but the way that RPG's make you feel sucked in to an alternate world easily make it my favorite genre (given that the story don't suck.) Aside from that I'm a father and a husband and I work my butt of to take care of my family. I love gaming, but family will always come before anything.
My favorite game... wow, that's a tough one. I'll just list a handful that I really enjoyed in no particular order. Only a handful though, there isn't enough space to list them all.
Disgaea 3 (PS3)
Final Fantasy 5 (SNES, PSX & GBA)
Final Fantasy 7 (PSX)
Dual Orb (SNES)
Breath of Fire 3 (PS & PSP)
Bahamut Lagoon (SNES)
Magic Knight Ray Earth (SNES & SATURN)
Everlong (RM2K3)
Enchanted Arms (PS3 & XBOX 360)
Jade Cocoon (PSX)

Are any of you guys in a bad financial situation?
Don't it really suck when you know you're doing your very best in life and STILL feel like it's taking a huge shit on you? I got a wife, a daughter, a house and two somewhat decent jobs. I'm affording my bills and what now. Not by much mind you, but they are getting paid. That leaves hardly anything left over for fun stuff. I've got good jobs on my resume and I'm trying to better my personal and professional life, but damn. How great dose someone have to be to find a good living? I'm not by any means poor if you will I'm just not doing well, not really sure how to describe it. To me, it always seems like the good people in life seem to get the crap end of the stick. I'm not typing this to get "Oh I'm so sorry" pity, I'm just curious if any of you guys are in a similar situation.
Little efforts in your RPG go a long way... right?
I know from a seasoned RPG players standpoint, I like to see when people go the extra miles on the little things. For example when the character enters a door, have the door move. When you open a treasure, show an animation of what you got. Even add a little sound effect when you find a key item. I'm not by any means suggesting someone to over do it with every single little detail. I'm just saying it's nice to see someone trying to create something with extra love, because even if story is less then good you'll have SOMETHING to enjoy. How do you all feel on this? Do extra little tid bits make or break a game for you?
[Poll] Which Final Fantasy had the best character development system?
As we all know, while Final Fantasy may not be the BEST series at doing character development, it sure did a good job for the most part. A discussion I had with a buddy yesterday sparked this. Which game in the series did the best job at character devolpment? While I'm not going to list ALL the systems, I will list the ones that I enjoyed the most. Now, keep in mind I have not played past 10-2, so if there was something in there you liked then my bad. I will describe a few of my feelings on each one, but not to much. If I did that, the post would be to long, more then it already is.
FF5 - Job System
It was good because you had alot of options to play around with. It helped distract from the bland story (yes, I understand that era of RPGs wasn't really THAT know for story.) If you were the achievement getting type, it gave you lots of hours to spend maxing out each character. Downside, you could make some fights SUPER easy. Example being, four monks on alot of bosses.
FF6 - Espers
I know this is a fan favorite, but it's not the best in my oppinion. Though kind of similar to FF5's job system, it had it's own ups and downs. The ability to have any character learn anything is great from a do everything stand point. Though, by doing that people tend to use magic over all the things that made ever character unique, because magic is for most part better.
FF7 - Materia
Closer to being like espers, but more diffucult. You had to pick and choose what to learn based off equipment. And the fact magic is learned for good to a character, made strategy a must. This was more fun then espers, becasue magic was more useful due to the fact that besides limit breaks (which you can't use all the time) there wasn't any unique character skills.
FF8 - Junction System
Grrr, how I hate this so. I like that you can draw and equip magics to stats, which was new and it seemed cool I will give it that. However, I almost never wanted to use the magics, because obviously that particular stat will decrease as the magic does. Not only that, it was so broken. With the right magic, you could make a lv70 stronger then a lv90, that should not be able to happen.
FF9 - Equipment Skills
This is my 2nd favorite. I loved it, it gave you a reason to hang on to old equipment. Say that old dagger has a skill your good one dosen't. It's not always as simple as "Oh, I need money. Let me go though and sell all this old stuff and not care." And while some characters had a few skills/magics that were alike. You couldn't teach everyone everything. That brought back the charm of being unique. Which at times, could be annoying depending on who you were required to use at that point.
FF10 - Sphere Grid
Now, to where you could get everyone to every spot on the grid. It would take alot of work to do so. Another thing that was cool, it wasnt just skills. You could get stat boosts to. The fact that it took so long to "Master" a character if you will, made more fun to avoid the boring "Everyone is the same deal." Now, I know some will be better at doing things then others, but everyone still has access to everything. On a side note, Yuna is the best character. Not only for the obvious use of summons. If you teach her Lulu's black magic, damn is she OP. Concidering she has the best magic power in the game.

Can someone do a character & face re-color for me, RMVX Ace?
I know I've had a few help topics, sorry. Those damn little things. Anyway, I want to base a character off of a real life friend and he's black. Problem is, the character I want to use for him (a chemist) is obviously an issue... it's a white guy. I've tried myself to do the re-colors and failed hardcore, here's the files.

Sorry for no screenshots, I'm limited at work as to what I can do. I'll update with some screenshots when I get home. I figured I'd give it a head start while I can, thanks everyone.

Is it possible to change size of characters sprites for RMVX Ace?
I'm working on some custom character sheets from the DS Pokemon Series. The normal size of the sprites are a tad to small, but when I do x200% they become a tad to big. Is there a way to adjust the size allowed for character sprites in RPG Maker VX Ace?

I need a Zombie Character for VX Ace
I've notice monster characters are border line hard to find for RPG Maker VX ace. I need a Zombie one. Well more then that, but right now I need a Zombie one. Can someone point me in the right direction?
[Poll] More iconic for Nintendo, Mario or Link?
Me and my brother had a very heated if you will, discussion yesterday about who is the most iconic character for the Nintendo brand. I'm sure that 99.99% of the people in the world, if not more would pick from either Mario or Link. I said Mario and my brother said Link. I pick Mario because he had his hand in just about every type of genre there is. Sports, RPGs, party games, board games, fighters... and the list goes on. He in my oppinion is the one thing that Nintendo can always count on to produce a good product. Though like everything, there are some exceptions of course **COUGH**the CDI**COUGH**. People may argue that Links bad games can be counted with just a few fingers. That may be true, but look at amount of titles Mario had. That's like saying Tommy Maddox was a better QB then Tom Brady because he threw less interceptions. Ofcourse Brady will have more interceptions, he played longer and threw the ball alot more.
My brother also said Link is better becasue it's a more mature series. Being mature will not mean it's better. Mario has an apeal different to that of Link and the whole Zelda franchise. Link to me, is almost a one trick pony. Now I love the Zelda franchise and if your good at something, stick to it. I will admit I don't think the action RPG genre would fit Mario all that well. All in all, they are both the corner stones for Nintendo, both make great games and both are fun as hell.
