but spaces after every coma is an un needed rule,it wasn't always a rule, and I do not abide by it mainly because I have written and typed without spaces after my comas for as long as I've written and typed,so I will again, not abide by that rule

Thank you for reminding me why I have absolutely zero faith in a positive future for humanity.

Can games be art?

I am not sure how to appreciate the "art" chair (if it was art, I'd take it as a type of obscure modern art), nor how practical the "art" chair would be when actually used.

The bottom chair, on the other hand, is artistic purely because of its simplicity and its practical-ness. It's a board with 4 legs attached to it, with another board for the back. What more (besides soft cushions?) could you possibly want in a chair? It's art in that there is nothing to add or take away.

Art is so subjective it isn't funny.

and the correct software...
Get the, uh, necessary software.
3) Download "necessary" software
play on PC with the 'necessary programs.'

Emulators themselves are not illegal, god damn.

ROMs and BIOS files are a different story, though.

RPG Maker XP movie

The audience does not know beforehand what "mindset" the creator intended the audience to have, thus everyone will make what they will of what they see in front of them with varying degrees of criticism, humor, mocking, and whatever else is a factor. There is nothing wrong with the audience taking such an approach.

The best way for the creator to deal with a situation like this is to take what's been said and respond to it properly rather than bluntly say that we're "doin' it wrong". You may say you're simply defending, but regardless of your intent, what you're doing right now is looking to bordering on whining given the surrounding circumstances.

Another problem might be that you simply chose the wrong audience to approach. In all my years of lurking around the RM community, I've never known it to like amateur voice acting in general (and for good reason).

Can games be art?

Your view on what "art" is?
Something that everyone can understand without being told what it is and garners a feeling of respect or awe, a sense of appreciation. Art doesn't need to be in any way amazing, nor does it need to be strange or complex. All art needs to do is make the viewer take a bit of their time and make them feel satisfied in a way that everyone can understand and appreciate.

Of course, "everyone" is an ideal way of thinking, so I guess "almost everyone" is a more realistic way of looking at it.

How do you think video games can express art?
I personally believe the crux of this lies in immersion, depth, detail, and where applicable some good storytelling.

Traditional games like chess and shogi have already had that kind of appreciation, I don't see why good video games can't.

Do you think games are art now? What are some games that you think are art?
This honestly varies wildly depending on a person's definition of "art". For me, anything that makes me take a second to reflect on the game is a piece of art for me. That can include loving the characters in an RPG, being astounded by the musical track, or brainstorming a new strategy in a good strategy game. If I like it so much that I'm taking my time with the game there's obviously something that makes me tick (a sense of appreciation?) and I take that to be what a piece of art should do. So yes, I believe games can be considered art.

As for what games I'd consider works of art, some that come to mind are: Fire Emblem 6 and 7, Age of Empires II, Super Robot Wars, and Tears to Tiara.

What are good/solid games that are nowhere near your idea of art? Or what are some games that would generally be seen as art, but you disagree with?
Given that I make a pretty wide distinction between stuff I like and stuff I loathe while throwing general opinion out the window, I find this question rather hard to answer.

Do you think RM games can ever be art?
Why not? The sky's the limit.

Art art art art art? FUCKING ART
The term "art" has lost its meaning these days, god damnit.

Help with submitting RM games

1. Install an archive program if you don't have one already. Popular ones include WinRAR, and 7-Zip.
2. Create an archive of your game's entire folder using aforementioned archive program.
3. Scan archive/source files for viruses, if you're into that sort of precautions.
4. Upload to RMN.
5. ????
6. Profit.

Note: I never submitted a game, so take step 4 with a spoonful of salt. That's the basic gist of it, though.
