My friends thoughts on old makers VS new ones.

I have a strange feeling that you're not going to be around much longer.

Sorry you were not able to understand what I was trying to point out and decided to use random assumptions instead.

Why don't you try them out? There are 30 day trials for both.

There are 2 versions of VX ace?

There are scripts for better battle systems, and there's a pretty popular sideview one which is used very, very heavily so should have a big help section for glitches and stuff.

There's a mix and match battle background now, but you can choose to have the blur if you want.

And you can get rid of the cutesy if you hate them that much. Just use your own custom graphics.

The engine prevents certain details making it for ME to draw whole new sets like XP and below. For VX/ACE engine I can only due tilesets.

Ok,mix and match background.

Did you see the part where I said mention them so I can avoid them while I am wondering through the unrrated section? Also, the games you suggest don't have to be rated. in fact, it would in some cases be better so they can be rated if you know what I mean.
I don't know what you mean.

VX isn't the problem here...

Anywho, what kind of games do you like? What are your preferences?
I don't have a stand out preference for Jrpgs.
So, you like jRPGs? That's a start

Mixed. Also, not really a start. That's where it ends.

Also what do you mean you don't know what I mean? Tons of unrrated gaes, so telling me unrrated games you liked allows me to have a chance to rate them or other people who view this thread. That's a good thing right?

Advantages of Ace:- You can use as many tilesets as you like, whereas VX allows just one page of custom tiles. You can mix and match the tilesets without having to create a different image, too.
- Charaset generator for the lazy. Makes ugly faces which don't fit in with the RTP, but it's good if you don't have any other choice.
- Uses a more up-to-date script language. Not that I know much about scripting, but newer language-y stuff has to be better, right?
- Regular battle attacks/guard/etc. can be changed more easily through the skills page in the database without the use of scripts.
- Overall nicer RTP. The chipset is a bit prettier, but the issue with VX and Ace is the hideous sand border around everything.
- Shadow pen. Use to draw shadows on by yourself by each quarter of a tile. VX only lets you use premade shadows in the form of tiles which take up that tile entirely. Ace doesn't do that, and treats it as a different thing entirely.
- Better skill and equipment effects which go into extreme depth on exactly what each thing does, its elements, debuffs, other stuff..
- New music and sounds. Always good.
- Can make party members have special abilities if they're in the party. For example, double drop rate, extra gold from monsters, never be attacke preemptively..

I recommend getting the trial to check it out, though. I haven't listed everything here, just the stuff I really liked.

EDIT: Or read Kentona's link. Man, spolin' my list.. D:

not exactly a detailed run down, but so far it seems they changed a few and brought back old stuff they removed but still kept the cute and round like charsets which make it harder to change themes like XP and 2k3 still from what I read.

I guess that could work, now if only they allowed you to change battle systems as well, I am getting sick of first person. \

Well I guess there's that one reason left then, sounds decent so far.

Oh, do they still use the tileset blur battle background?

I don't have a stand out preference for Jrpgs. Even my big name console Jrpgs games confuse people when trying to see if I have a preference when I list which I like.

I'll take a stab in the dark though and say...

Go to JP enterbrain (Use the translator) go to the 2k3 section at the bottom and download the hong kong rtp (English)
He's from Japan. I don't think he needs a translator for a Japanese website ;-)

Notable differences between VX and VX Ace

Just wanted to know what the more, uh, impressive, or improved changes are in VX Ace over the original VX.

I am thinking about buying Ace, although there are 2 reasons why I am holding, and one is a different subject entirely, but this one is just to know what I would be expecting improvement wise.

So if anybody could give me the run down.
