How much do y'all like midi?

author=iddalai
I'd say that most people don't like RTP because it's overused.

Didn't you use something like solmire to convert them?

No, I actually just used the online converter on Hamienet.com, and I've tried creating the loops with FModEx scripts. Mind you, it works fine if you're accurate enough with the timing, but it's very buggy when you try to implement it during battles. Or at least, I never got it to work right.

Is this "Solmire" able to convert them while keeping the loop points, though? Because that would be very helpful.

What is up with all the NAMES people come up with for their games?

My current title is only a placeholder, and likely for good reasons, since it's basically contained of three words which are all overused in video game names.

"Legend of Chaos"

Yea. I'm still working on it.

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

I've just finished writing out the plotline of my game in greater detail, and I've created biographies and main events for each of the playable characters and main villains.

At the moment, I'm still struggling to get my FModEx script to work, but I'm considering to just give up on it entirely and use the default midi music. With my knowledge, it seems impossible to get custom battle music to work right.

Also, I've finished the game's starting location. It's rather basic, but I guess it'll do. It's my first game, after all.

How much do y'all like midi?

I hope that I'm not interrupting the topic too much, but I have a quick question regarding the default .midi files found in RPG Maker XP.

My question is: How much people actually do dislike them? Because I have managed to convert several of the old .midi files into more advanced .mp3 and .ogg files, but I've had so much difficulty with making these loop correctly without making them interfere with eachother that I've simply given up on trying. Yes, I've tried FModEx.

Anyways, if you'd like, I can show you some of the "advanced" music files that I've mentioned. But I was just wondering about the general opinion of the default .midi music.

Favorite Final Fantasy Title

My personal favorite would definitely have to be Final Fantasy 6. To this day, I still consider it one of the best games I have ever played: The music was incredible, the characters and their backstories were fantastic, the storyline was brilliantly executed... The only true flaws I saw about Final Fantasy 6 was the lack of directions when you reached the World of Ruin, and the training you would have to do afterwards to face Kefka.

But of course, this training hardly holds a candle to the grinding you've had to do in Final Fantasy 2. Now that is a game I simply could not enjoy; not even in the revamped version.

Truth be told though, Final Fantasy 8 actually was the first game in the series that I've played, as well as the one I disliked the most for a very long time. But as I grew older, I learned to appreciate it more, even though I still think that grinding materials for better weapons was a stupid concept. It's a shame that my copy of the game no longer works, though...

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Well, so I've re-subscribed myself to Star Wars: The Old Republic, and I've cancelled my subscription to TERA.

Appearantly, SWTOR has been through some pretty good changes lately (with even more coming this week), so I figured I'd give it a try after a break of four months. I was slowly getting tired of some of the cheap enemy tactics and annoying bugs of TERA anyways.

Running away in the Fmod Ex mod

Bump'd

I'm experiencing the same technical difficulties. Any possible help would be greatly appreciated.

What are you thinking about right now?

I beat both Mom and Mom's Heart in The Binding of Isaac for the first time ever today.

I can't believe how much easier Mom's Heart is then Mom herself. I mean, I know that it gets harder after 6 tries, and that It Lives is harder as well... But even the regular Mom's Heart seems a little underpowered.

I mean, I'm a pretty bad player, and the two times I got past Mom (once to kill her, and another time to get in the Womb) I almost died in the process. But Mom's Heart? Killed it without even taking a single hit.

The helpful member appreciation thread

Personally, I would like to extend my thanks to Marrend for sharing a wonderful music loop script with me. It took some time until I got it to work, but now that it works it's already saved me a lot of time and effort; And it'll save even more during the future development!
