Okay, all good so far. It will play those strings for about 12 seconds before fading in.
Did you complete all of the pirate quests?

Check to make sure your keyboard settings are on default. Press 'F1' after booting the game.
Also, are you on the mine track or did you fall down the pit? If you fell down, there is a spot to jump over a slate of rock by pressing 'A' while also holding the 'Left Arrow' key. Some jumps require you to move in the direction that you are jumping.
I'll check the game to make sure there isn't a bug there.
EDIT:
I didn't see any issues with the events that could cause the buttons to not perform properly. The jump button is listed as the 'A' key, with the button in the programming being button 'X'.

Very strange. I will be more than happy to take a look at it for you and get everything fixed up. Why don't you go into your Iris Island folder and make a copy of your save file. Then, email it to me as an attachment to letsfilmsomething@yahoo.com.
If I can't figure out why it's reacting this way, I can at least reset the mini-quest and get you your gold for delivering the crate. :)

I booted up the game and tried the delivery to Serik's Food Store a few times and didn't have a problem with the crate.
Is it possible that you placed the crate there without noticing? Is the 'Food Crate' item still in your inventory? If you no longer see the item, try to go back and claim your reward from Warth.
If there is still an issue with it, I can take a look at your save file and fix it for you.

Hey shiningriver. You may have went the wrong way and accidentally triggered an event that wasn't supposed to appear yet. Should not be a problem though. Here's what you should try:
- From the screenshot you sent me, return to the miner's camp and take the escape tunnel to the right of the elevator. You should see hole in a wall with some fallen rocks beneath it. That's you're way to the surface. (If you have not been told about this entrance before, you may want to talk to a couple of adventurers that you can find down in the caves. Just look for the skeleton resting by a river of lava. The skeleton is located in the room just before the Dark Caves. They can warp you to the surface.
- Next return to your house. Down in your basement there is a secret passage, parallel to the gate that took you to the crystal caves. Press 'enter' against the wall and you will unlock a hidden door. Head inside when you are ready and follow the passage until you reach Frem's hideout.
- Here Frem will take you through the secret tunnel that he has been in charge of guarding. This will eventually loop you back to where you saw that message in the screenshot, but now you will be on the other side of that gap and can continue onward.
- From there everything should run smoothly and you are on your way to finishing the game.

Hey eevee93, I believe he is asking you to deliver it to the Food Store (Building with an apple on the sign). You can find it in-between the Pub and General Store. Look for a backdoor behind the Pub and once you are inside, place the crate in the middle of two other crates at the end of the wall.

Ha-ha, yes my friend, you will see the light again. If you haven't found the elevator yet, here are the paths to look out for:
In the big lava area with the broken bridge, look for a sign down towards the bottom warning miners to stay clear of the area. From that sign, head down into a tunnel that will lead off to the left. At the end, is a elevator, flip the switch and once the gate has slid to the side, walk in and then turn right to pull the lever once again. This will take you to a miner's camp. If you had your run-in with a couple of adventurers down in the lava-invested caverns, you will have heard about a secret path leading out of the caves. You can find this path just to the right of the elevator in the mining camp. Look for a hole in a wall with some rubble beneath. Jump up into that hole by press 'A' and then precede to jump through the obstacles inside to reach the other end. Climb up the rope and you will be outside.
If you have not run into these adventurers yet, take a right from the "Miner's warning sign" and head to another cavern filled with lava. You will see a burning skeleton above you, laying in front of the lava stream. Interact with it and you will meet them. They will help you out of the caves directly if you wish.
