Ah, the DQ death system, quite the bittersweet experience... especially when that one trick bag decides to crit you the one time you forgot to heal.
Agreed. The first Dragon Quest I played was 8 and I couldn't believe that you lose half your gold when you die. But it really is an incentive to keep your party well and really strategize. Cheapshots like the trick bag and thwack suck though.

But yes, this is what I think a late '90s DQ would have looked like, judging by the Game Boy Color ones near the turn of the millennium (which was almost 20 years ago, feeling old...)
Guessing this uses all 50 (99?) pictures available for use. That Done is a powerful weapon, careful. :D
Great way to explain it. I actually pulled a lot of Dragon Quest VII textures for this game, which was not fun.
But to address the image question, I'm using a 120 pic patch, which really still isn't enough. But I'm managing.
Done is indeed the best weapon in the game XD

Great renders. Really reminds me of the PS1 era. I'm a 3d artist also looking to make my own games outside of RPG Maker in like Unreal or Unity. So to hear you say that is promising. I look forward to seeing that project one day!

I just want to really thank hedge1 for this program. I have finished all image text for Dragon Quest +, which is a ton, for the menu systems in the matter of hours. Before this I copied and pasted text from a dummy file into the new text image and it took forever. This, in addition to Dreamaker, will also help immensely for the French translation of the game! I'll make the Dragon Quest III SNES font available in the near future for others to use.
