New blog post is up! Check it out here.

And if you missed it, I did a post-mortem about my experience exhbiting at a local gaming expo awhile back; you can check that out here, too.

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

This week's tasks have mostly been finalizing the design of the second level, which takes place in a forest. It's mostly character and exploration focused, which is all good and dandy, but I've also been struggling with it for nearly a year.

For whatever reason, it's a lot harder to design than the other levels which are more modern and have more of an... "obvious" theme to it, story wise.

Oh, and sending out tons of emails. I recently went to a convention so I've been following up with the people I met there.

Skinwalker Wolf

Damn, this looks sick. Love the atmosphere and concept, seems so creepy and mysterious.

Nice! The soft blues and purples look really nice with the black and white. Does the turn order present utilize SMT's press turn for gaining and losing turns too or is it more like FFX where you can push turns back or rearrange turns based on the given command?

Thanks! It's more like FFX in that regard.

Dys: Eternal Space Jail RPG

This looks sick as hell. Definitely plan on giving it a try.

HEARTBEAT (Official Trailer)

Looks fantastic! I can't wait to play.

70% work has been done!

Congrats! Looking forward to it.

What was the worst/funniest/most memorable moment you've had while someone else was playing your game?

Mine happened pretty recently. I had a few friends over for a live playtest session, the first one I had in awhile. They were playing the first hour of the game, and on THE VERY FIRST ENEMY, they got one-shotted instantly.

What had happened was that I buffed the normal attack skill right beforehand, but forgot that enemies used that same skill as well... hence, instant one-shot. Had to stop the session for a bit to fix things, but after that it was mostly fine.

...yeah, don't go changing stats ten minutes before a live test, kids.

Another classic example was when Archeia played one of my games for a contest years ago, and due to the weird pixel movement system I used, she couldn't get into the next area and quit the game. Probably one of the more embarassing moments of my RM career. I can't find the video of it anymore, but in retrospect it was pretty hilarious.

What are some of your stories? It can be anything from friends playing it live, streamers, etc.

What are your favorite and least favorite parts of gam mak?

Favorite: Level design/mapping, I absolutely love creating new areas. It's almost like being an architect or interior designer. (except I completely lack those skills in real life) I also love writing, eventing (when I'm fully in the zone) and just implementing playable stuff in general.

Least Favorite: Balancing can go fuck itself. Databasing is a close second, but at least with that I can be a bit more creative. But balancing? All a numbers game. And I'm balls at math, so, go figure.
