LV27MARKERMAN'S PROFILE

I loved playing video games and watching anime as a kid. I still like doing that. Creation of games and stories has always fascinated me. I've always thought of ideas about them since I was young. When I was in college I started to actually get into game editing software and writing stories. I also began Let's Playing around this time. I've been working on these projects to this day.
One important driving force is an attempt to share my ideas. I want to be more selfless with my ideas and sharing them is required for that.

These days I write books that are basically long shonen-anime stories. And every complete game I've made is very lengthy as well. I think this is because I want to replicate my vision of what I enjoyed as a child. Back then most games took me years to beat. I let's race now, so some of those can be done in an hour now. And most games seem too short to me these days. Most cartoons seemed like they had an infinite number of episodes coming to me with more moments to be awesome and have the characters grow. And when a journey of epic proportions is complete, it feels great to me.

Most of all I would like my ideas backed by my enthusiasm and programming skills to be new/different ideas and to be enjoyed as I enjoyed the quests I saw as a child.

Let's Play: Spirit Blade - Parts 31, 32, & 33

My final boss strategy:

Strange I usually use Moxia(Stat Ring), Terra, Halla, and Spirette on part 1. Terra's debuffs are nice. Halla's Holy Nuke and Spirette's Ice Nuke do a lot of damage and of course a full powered Spirit Blade. The thing should die pretty quickly.

That leaves Moxia, Goldi(Omni Ring), Aja(Stat Ring), and Miti(Stat Ring) for part 2. This does take a while. Moxia should use Magic Blade to build up her SP for part 3. Goldi should use Omni Raise and then work on building up her SP for part 3. Aja with the Hyper Katana is the healer with double Mega Potions and she can debuff Vinal's MAT. Miti's Buster Hug only costs 25 SP and can debuff Vinal's MAT as well and for a longer length of time.

Part 3:
Moxia (Stat Ring), Goldi (Omni Ring), Halla (Stat Ring), Miti (Stat Ring)
Moxia will hack away with Spirit Blade and Magic Blade. Goldi uses Omni Raise ASAP. Halla heals (if she has a free moment and enough SP Magic Mirror can really do A LOT of damage to the boss). Miti uses Buster Hug as much as possible.

I'll change the saving rule for part 3 for Version 3.

Why the final boss is the way it is:
My main experience with RPGs has been the Final Fantasy series. In some of them you get extra party members who CAN join in on the final fight, but they probably won't. I wanted to have a way for every character in your party to definitely be in the final fight. I also wanted a fight that was challenging at the highest level without RNG and forced more out of the player than just heal + attack.

This is the first RPG I've ever made (Not counting my FF1 hack that I haven't released. That is meaner than this game in general.)

The encounter rate is the default for RPG Maker VX Ace.

Hope this works ! Dennis

If you download the new version and copy the save file over it should fix your problem. Thanks that was an important fix.

I won't know for awhile because I had to start the game over - while I was looking around I went in the tall building up by the floating one and it would not let me back out the entrance ! Dennis

Are you able to send me a screenshot? I'm not sure how you can be completely stuck. If there's something I'm unaware of I want to be aware of it.

Not sure what to do next - after I get over the bridge that was blocked by the wind spirit - cannot find what to do - the castle surrounded by poison needs a key - cannot get in the cave - the warrior woman in the west is not there - went back every place - cannot find what I missed - any help - thanks ! Dennis

At the bottom right of the castle there is a staircase that you probably missed.

If you're going to make status effects always work, avoid making any that prevent the target from acting, as they'll always be broken or useless with no middle ground.

Still, I've also been wanting to make a highly deterministic system for an RPG. Gonna look into at which places it's good to randomize a bit.
You make a good point. And a lot of ailments do prevent the enemies from moving, but ailments pretty much belong to 1 character, have to be inflicted 1 at a time (The only way to inflict ailments on multiple enemies can't be spammed in each battle), and the enemies that can be effected usually come in groups. So out of a group of 6-4 you can prevent 1 from attacking completely, that or the enemy is so threatening ailments are the way to go.
If I am to stunlock only one enemy, it'll probably the big guy known as the boss.

Also, only one character can inflict ailments?

Okay I meant that ailments ALWAYS work unless the enemy is immune. You can't stunlock bosses. Yes only one character has ailments, but other characters DO have debuffs.

Spirit Blade

Please post any opinions about the game. I'm eager for feedback. I'm also looking for dialogue for generic characters that is either humorous, useful, or provides background information.

bath house scenes have been over done, lol. Lot's of anime have them. (Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon, monster girl musume, gurren lagann, Bikini warriors, Inuyasha, etc.)

Point is, make this different from all those other cliche ones.
Play my game and get this far.

I have honestly only seen Gurren Lagann among your examples. So I don't know if the dialogue is cliche or not.

There are no male party members either.

ALSO I think making your RPG main character heavily about royalty or a chosen one is even MORE cliche than this, but NO ONE complains about that.

I'm not an artist so thanks. Also how do I upload a link to the game for people to download. I don't understand how.

To be fair the perspective of most RPGs doesn't make much sense. The door thing is like that for SEVERAL places. There is a rug tile underneath it too in this case. It doesn't look weird to me, but I'll keep what you say in mind.
