Marrend plays Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete!

While I met with success in regards to the Amulet, Sandro had also sent out men, led by a warrior named Tarek, to retrieve another artifact for his research, the Vampire's Cowl.

The lack of word from Tarek troubled Sanrdo, and our magic divined that he had been captured. I volunteered to head the rescue, with Clancy in tow.

Starting Bonus: Town Hall, 15 Wood, <+1 Defense>
Win Condition: Bring the Vampire's Cowl to Leafhall (achieved day 4)

Getting to Tarek was a bit tricky, because the prison that contained him had two gateposts. One was a green border guard, and could be gotten past by visiting the green keymaster's tent. The other was a quest guard, which I largely assumed would ask for an artifact. However, they requested a bribe "deposit" of 40000 gold before allowing me to pass. Perhaps, in a non-UGEd game, that would be a significant sum, but, well, yeah.

I was approached by a man by the name of Sandro, who said he was conducting research to combat necromancy. He's willing to pay considerable sums of money for the pieces he needs for his research, and the first among these is the Amulet of the Undertaker.

Something seemed rather familiar about this man, but, perhaps my own zeal to end the undead menace made me agree to his request.

In this scenario, not only does Gem retain her custom background, but Clancy has a custom background as well. While I might have expected Gem's to carry over, I wasn't, exactly, prepared for having two heroes with custom backgrounds.

The number of heroes between Clancy and Gem is minimal, but, it still mostly behooved me to hire heroes on one side or the other of that range.

Before I get too much further, lemme make an aside concerning the campaigns for the Shadow of Death expansion. For the most part, they're framed as a kind of "origin story", involving the few heroes that remain from previous Might and Magic games. The New Beginning campaign has it's focus on Gem.

Strictly speaking, in the context of HoM&M, she served Queen Lamanda as a Sorceress during the events of Heroes 1, and likely served under Roland during the Succession War, also as a Sorceress. This campaign outlines how she became a Druid in Heroes 3. It's been a while, but, I think Gem was originally from one of the Xeen games? Maybe MM3? Geeze, I might have to re-play those old games again. XD

[RMMV] Calling Enemy Parameters to set to Variable

$dataEnemies, itself, is an array. So, you'd also need to pass the ID/position of the enemy you want to capture data for. So, as a quick example...

$gameVariables.setValue(62, $dataEnemies[1].params[0]);

...this will get the MHP for whatever enemy is in ID/position 1 in your database, and throw that value into $gameVariables[62]. Fetching equipment stat bonuses would probably be fairly similar in this regard.

$gameVariables.setValue(62, $dataWeapons[3].params[3]); // <- grabs the ATK of the weapon in position 3 of the database, throws it into $gameVariables[62]
$gameVariables.setValue(63, $dataArmors[7].params[4]); // <- grabs the DEF of the armor in position 7 of the database, throws it into $gameVariables[63]

As for calling the item menu, I think that would be...

SceneManager.push(Scene_Item);

...something like that?

*Edit: For full disclosure, I'm using MZ resources/references. While I doubt there's too much difference between MZ and MV in regards to this issue, I thought it prudent to note.

Has it only been a year since the succession war in Enroth? I still have nightmares of the fighting, to this day. To help alleviate that, I attempted to retire in Antagarich.

Alas, Deyjan Necromancers are plaguing the land, and in the lack of experienced generals, the people look to me for assistance. I'd rather not fight again, of course, but, I also cannot entirely ignore this threat either.

Scenario notes/asides
Starting Bonus: 10 Wood/Ore, 8 Crystal, <Mage Guild Level 1>
Win Condition: Capture all enemy towns, and defeat their heroes (achieved day 1)

So, uh, yeah, this scenario was subject to heroes being hacked to have 30000 movement. There was no body of water present to stop this movement preemptively, either. I kinda feel a little regret, but, I couldn't help to notice that Gem had a custom background attached to her profile, and that messed up the positions of heroes after her. So, maybe that had soured my mood concerning this scenario to begin with.

I'll try to be more conservative with the movement UGEing next time, and we'll see how I do.

Welp, I know which hemisphere you're in. He posted it the day after.

Now I'm wondering if I forgot to set it to the correct value. Like, I set it to 0 to double-check their claim that it was two days before the did their thing, since it kinda looked to me that only one day had actually expired. Though, it wouldn't make any kind of difference whatsoever if that claim was true, because that still shows disrespect to the community at large.

*Edit: That aside, I think disengaging in this conversation is the right thing to do. Enough time and effort has been spent here, and would be better used on another activity. Such as gammak!

For what little it might be worth at this point, I concede that I overreacted in the aforementioned Karen thread. It still kinda irks me that they only waited for one day, maybe two, before doing it themselves. Though, on one hand, I should congratulate them for doing it themselves! On the other hand, I feel they could have planned things a little better in regards to that thread/project.

What could have happened there is that it was a spontaneous idea. Like, the project in question was a thing for Mother's Day. I have zero issues with this base idea of making a game for Mother's Day. However, as far as I'm aware, that was celebrated this past Sunday. Which was also was the self-same day that they posted that thread. At least, according to my GMT settings.

However, that's also why I think the idea could have been planned better. I don't pretend to know when this project started, but, the possibility to use any RPG Maker female battler that currently exists, either paid or otherwise, apparently did not occur to them. They had a very specific thing in mind, and thought the descriptor of "Karen" was enough for potential illustrators to go on. Even if such a descriptor was enough (it was not in my case, but, plenty has been said of this already), I don't pretend to know how long that would take. However, if I would use my rule of thumb concerning gamepages (ie: if it's pending for over two weeks, that's when one would start considering PMing Liberty/Frogge), then, I think Krimson could/should have allowed that long for that work to be done. Maybe one week?

*Edit: Considering they did their own thing in a day, or maybe two, is notable. However, even if the work could be done in a day, one should not expect people to flock to a help thread just because it's there. What happened in the Karen thread is, essentially, an overestimation how many people would post combined with an underestimation how much time in which to post.

Myron, Fallout 2
Redding? Town full o' gold diggers. Mordino wants to control it all. So he comes to me in his wheezing voice and says, "Myron, Myron, make me something that'll give me Redding." And I say, "Okay, what timeframe we looking at?" He goes, of course, "Yesterday." Crime lords. Want everything done fast and sloppy. At least they don't have a marketing department.
