While This Might Not Be a Part of the RM2K3 Challenge Event...

A bit late, but thanks! I always just assumed rocks were only there to mark the jump points, and that you were supposed to jump at the ledges. Anyway, that chapter is done, and now I just need to navigate the mansion as Aryn. I should figure it out well enough, but I did just find a bug that just restarted the entire nighttime balcony scene when I walked over there. :(

Incitement 3

^ I surely hope so. I'll definitely post reviews on here once I'm done with the first two.

Incitement 3

^ Same. Then again, I wasn't too impressed by it so far, so it's not a particularly high priority for me.

So, where exactly does the demo end? I'm currently stuck right after Zelan and Kuran fight the mysterious guy at the remains of the bridge. I finish the fight with no problems, and find the chest that is dragged back into the sea, but afterwards there's nowhere to go since the player cannot jump backwards to higher ledges. Is that it, or am I missing something?

Version 1.2 released

In my new game you're going to be able to pick up boxes and place them anywhere.

^ Reminds me of A Blurred Line, where you could also freely pick up stones if you got captured by Lazer Teeth in the opening, although you had to throw them and weren't allowed to just drop them.

Still, there's no reason for it not to work. I should probably think about adding a puzzle or two like that to Nihilo. We're in an early stage of development, but there's already a functional boulder puzzle that's also push/pull, and "move stuff around" puzzle should be good for a sidequest or two somewhere in the middle of the game.

Well, I'll be writing about what I see, no more no less. For reference, however, can you please give a quick run-down of the more important differences so that I can have an idea of what "many times over" actually means?

While This Might Not Be a Part of the RM2K3 Challenge Event...

Well, I generally avoid demos here and focus on reviewing completed games. This blog made me reconsider. Expect a review sometime soon. Given the tone of this blog post, there are only two possibilities:

a) This really is the "next great RPG", an example of what a lone developer can do if they're willing to reach for the stars, yet maintain their commitment to quality at every turn. That's a rare thing indeed, and certainly something to be praised.

or

b) You're vastly over-estimating the quality of your game relative to what has already been released, on RMN and elsewhere: an unfortunately common malaise among developers and artists in general (i.e. the many attempts to create "the next Fallout" throughout the noughts, none particularly successful) In this case, an honest review will hopefully serve as a necessary corrective to show the disconnect between promises and reality.

That is all for now. I sincerely hope it's a) rather than b).

Sore Losers Review

Well, I didn't actually know you weren't active on here back when I posted the review. Thus, I started writing bits of it during gameplay (like I do with other RMN games) and then I just felt compelled to finish it afterwards. I mean, for all its faults, the game still left enough of an impression on me to warrant TVTropes page, so finishing a review was an easy decision in comparison.

Custom Battle System in progress

Oh, that's great then! And please make sure to give enemies some skills too, though!(preferably even the basic ones, as attack-only cannon fodder is always boring.) I wish this didn't need to be said, but unfortunately newer games on here keep on ignoring such crucial elements of design.

Minor point, but shouldn't it be "just as broken as it '''was'''?" Still, it's always cool to see this kind of allegorical writing.
