Desolate City: The Bloody Dawn (Enhanced Edition)

author=Red-Cube
Really? I mean really? Dude, this could be an awsome game if it wasn't for the clunkey controls and the poor game design.

The artworks irritate me a little. Most are superb, then others are a little... meh. Were they all done by the same person?
The controls are ok, except when it comes to fighting. It works if you're patient, but it's clunkier than it needs to be. At least bashing the heads of these lunatics is quite satisfying.
Yet the gamedesign is what kills it for me and I hate to say that cause with a little tweaking this game could be one of my favs. First of all, even though it's obvious to see where the inspiration comes from, I'm glad you choose a a little different scenario with crazies, instead of ripping off resident evil. Unfortunately you tend to emulate styles and mechanics which are quite outdated. For example the "opening door animation" or the "step down the stairs animation". It looks cool, but after the fifth time watching it, it gets annoying, cause it slows down the flow. Also the idea with the ckp points is not good. Why not have an inventory to store and use items whenever u want?
And when I chose to save a game it asks me if I'm sure and says that even if I don't save I lose a cpk use... wtf?
Even though I didn't find another ckp point, I managed to progress quite a while thanks to the still very fair health supply. Yet after what was like an hour of playing without saving, I left a chimney only to get burned alive without the chance to even fight back or run away while everyone was laughing at me...
Really? Is it necessary to troll the player with such cheap deathtraps. I mean I could accept that when u would be able to save whenever you want, but like this it's just pure mockery.

You should really consider making an enhanced version of this. This game deserves better. I feel ashamed cause I really liked the rest. The music is awsome, the art and pixelworks are great for the most part and the atmosphere gaves me some chills. There is no need to ruin this with sloppy mechanics or tedious gamedesign. So please don't take my critism personal. I'm maybe a little harsh if this was your fist game, but it should help you for your next one. Potential is there after all.

Greetings Red-Cube,

Thank you for reporting your point of view, we seriously consider our audience to make our games better in the future.

We have been releasing new versions of our game and in fact the most recent changes are the slightly improvement in the curve of difficulty and several bug fixes, so in part, these changes improve some of the things you mention.

You can see these changes in our rpgmaker.net blog.

On the other hand, what you comment on the stairs / doors animations or the combat system itself, you should understand that we have been inspired by the classic Resident Evil, we wanted to make a game with similarities to that game and Silent Hill, giving a different perspective (the maniacs).

They are also the reason that at certain times they set traps, because they are not 100% brainless creatures as a zombie would be. In fact, here is an image capture that warns of maniacs menace.

On the other hand, all the artwork and pixelart (in addition to music and some sounds), are developed 100% by ourselves.

This is important to us, as we are accustomed to seeing games with recycled graphics from other games and although we still have to keep improving, it is an added value and our own identity to what we do.

It is also the first ARPG that we have done. Although it has its weaknesses, the next thing we do is going to be much better considering how well Desolate City has been polished to be our first survival game.

In any case, in future games we will take into account the details reported, always with the objective that the game experience and the game itself are better.

Thank you very much.

Desolate City: The Bloody Dawn (Enhanced Edition)

We will consider improving the difficulty of our next games.

The 3rd character is the reward to finish the game with the best possible classification.

Thanks for playing!

[RM2K3] Official Trailer "Desolate City: The Bloody Dawn"

Thanks for everything, a greeting.

[RM2K3] Official Trailer "Desolate City: The Bloody Dawn"

Hi everyone!

Still in development, we present this action RPG & survival-horror adventure. Most of the game system is stable, but still a long way to go.

The duration of the game will be long and the trailer shown what we can expect in this adventure.

We hope you like it, we keep you informed!

This may be because English is not your native language, but I have difficulty trying to understand what you want exactly?
Do you want someone who can code the gameplay mechanics and systems using Events?

Exactly isn't our native language.
What we seek is the equivalent of a programmer but for RPG Maker 2003 1.09a tool

That ABS needs some serious beefing up. Enemies should have more than walk towards hero as their movement and far less HP. I don't think I could jump on board but I could offer some advice and some of my own code to help with those problems.

As a side note, I think calling someone who works with an RM engine an "engineer" is brilliant :D I'm an engineer!

Haha! In the Spanish-speaking communities we call "enginer" the user is able to program event (variables, common events, conditions and effects RPG Maker 2k / 2k3 series).

Those problems you mention are more or less corrected. The problem today is to continue to advance the game.

[RM2K3] We seek "Enginer"

This development platform is quite used today, although it seems otherwise. In fact, almost is used more RPG Maker 2000 Value!

The idea is to give a chance to EasyRPG project that will be compatible with RPG Maker series 2000/3.

Still, we appreciate the advice.

[RM2K3] We seek "Enginer"

Hi everyone.

In our development team, we are looking for a user with good management with RPG Maker 2003 (1.09a). The idea is to continue a project in which the candidate will have direct and constant contact with the graphic designer.

In this case, our graphic designer will guide to the candidate to advance the game and engines.

Obviously, this person will be part of the game credits and possible co-authorship. Needless to say, both the project and we (the group), are serious and need to find the same.

Interested parties can contact privately.

Game Info:

Plot
Lisa Elmer is a young student who works delivering pizzas in the small town of Gray Bay and has a little scooter accident during a delivery. What seemed to be only rumors about experiments that could change the lives of the inhabitants of Gray Bay through the pharmaceutical company called Prometheus, turned out to be true, although not in the way it was expected... Desolate City: The Bloody Dawn opens a new world of terror and survival in the daily life with a large, unexpected plot.

Features
- During the game you can control two different characters who will be swapped during the plot, although initially you will manage Lisa Elmer.

- The game has a small inventory which you can manage with buttons 1, 2 and 3:
Free Hand: You will pick up objects, examine the scenery, read documents, etc. When you change this to any weapon, the action button ("Enter" or "Z") changes to attack mode, so you'll have to change to Free Hand (button "1") again if you want to explore the scenery again.

Melee weapons: Fists aren't enough against the maniacs. With these weapons we'll have a minimum opportunity against the enemies. Each weapon corresponds to a different character which will find it in different situations, but both of them will inflict the same damage. This weapon offer the minimum damage we can inflict, which will allow us the possibility to progress in the game. These weapons can be selected with button "2".

Firearms: These will facilitate the game due to its greater amount of damage. But the ammunition will be limited and sometimes it's better to save it and use melee weapons. Each weapon corresponds to a different character too. Once you find one of them you can select it with the button "3". Shotgun will inflict more damage than the normal gun, but the ammunition available is shorter and it takes more time to reload.
