Let's work on your game descriptions!

Hello. Let me know if I'm breaking any bylaws or if I have to sacrifice baby goats in order to make this work. Essentially I just want someone to tell me what it is I'm doing wrong just by looking at my page description. My instinct is telling me that people will look at it and think "This uses RTP, gross" and find something probably more interesting. (It's certainly not my defeatist attitude, naturally). So yeah. Be as harsh as you want/need to be.

Submitting a Game

Ohhh okay. That makes sense. Thank you!

Submitting a Game

This is probably a really stupid question that is answered elsewhere, but I can't find it. How does one upload a game after submitting it? I filled out the submission page and uploaded all of the images I wish to show, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to actually put the game on the site.

Any help would be appreciated.

Generic Introduction

Hello. I am using this space to introduce myself. I have currently worked on and completed a single game, which I am hoping to upload onto this site. One thing that I will say about myself is that more often than not I will miss the utterly obvious for no apparent reason.

Case in point, I've already tried uploading my game but was unable to actually find a way to do this. I can submit all kinds of information, but not the game itself. I'm sure I'll figure it out the second I post this, but any help would be appreciated.

Anyway, I look forward to hostilely taking over being a part of this community.

I would love if you did a Let's Try of my own game.

Eredia - Diary of Heroes

Borderline homosexual expressionless potato! Hahahaha... Ahem... okay.

I had a lot of fun with this game. I played around four hours, mostly doing the main questline (I rarely ever play an RPG for the sidequests). I got to the (SPOILER WARNING) cave during the investigation but wasn't sure how to progress from there. Is it unfinished or am I just an idiot? (END SPOILERS)

Anyway, I'll split this review into two parts: Gameplay and Story.

Gameplay felt very much like a traditional RPG. Which I had no problem with - I love RPGs. The tutorial was amusing to me since I kind of had the basic gist of how things go, but hey, I rarely ever see a tutorial because most people just assume everyone already knows how to play an RPG, so that makes this pretty accessible to newcomers. I also had some thoughts like "Hm, I'd better get a better weapon before going into this cave thing", which I haven't had in a while. The only issue I had was that the difficulty curve outside of the starting area seems to sky rocket. It might be because I'm an impatient moron but due to the lack of enemies in that starting area it was difficult getting up to adequacy for the later areas. That cave horse especially... although I think that was intentional.

As for the story, there were several parts I really liked, and a few I just don't think were for me - which isn't a bad thing, it's just personal preference. The only objective criticism I can offer is that whenever you do finish the game proper, a good editor would be something worthwhile. There were several typos and words like "Cya", which struck me as odd. But that's minor stuff given the focus on other things.

The story, for me, came alive at two points in the game (SPOILER WARNING AGAIN OBVIOUSLY) - the first when Akia is introduced through Vinoche. I liked that personal layer added to the main plot, and it added a decent level of mystery. It made me question what was going on, and where this was headed. I also really liked the theme here - what makes a hero and what makes a hunter. Very good inner conflict that is sure to drive home some emotional and intellectual beats. It also invokes a great sense of identity, and what makes you... you.

The second part I thoroughly enjoyed is something that actually perfectly blends story and gameplay - the investigation. I enjoyed how much of a massive puzzle it all turned out to be, while also being very character and story driven. As I didn't get past the cave bit, I still don't know the answer, but I really liked where it was heading. Things became unpredictable for me there.

OHHH one more thing. I'm not sure as to what's included in MV and what isn't (I have it but haven't played around with it that much yet), but I thought the music was great, and the day/night and clock systems were awesome. Good touches that made the world feel more alive and fleshed out.

Anyway, this is a game that I will be checking up on every once and a while. More than anything I am interested in seeing where this all goes.
