Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

The biggest hints for the fan is that if you stop before they turn on, the wind doesn't push you.

However, each fan puzzle is designed to be doable without that. I can't recall if this is it exactly, but the duration of the fan wind is 8 seconds. There are some that you need to let the fan push you a little bit (knowing that the wind will die down before you hit the teleport at the end).

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost Review

As you know, I most certainly appreciate this review! I'm glad you enjoyed your playthroughs and I appreciate you taking the time to write your review. :)

(It is better with the pictures, but there's a link :D)

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

@meisam:
Oh yes, that weapon will last you quite some time. :)
Mandau gets significantly easier to make later on.

@MeowMeow:
You didn't miss it at all! (although you can't get it yet).
Later on you will have to return to Cardial Cove in past time (note: the present version does not have the NM).
Some NM drops are only worth it early on, but some have uses all the time. :)

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

That's pretty lucky to have made a Holy Lance at that point! You'll find monster materials become more frequent as you get further in to the game. :)

where is monster number 50 ?

Monster 50 is Stinging Sallie, the NM of the Esrarch region. You can only find it in the Thief's Den.

@Straysheep:
Rebel told you right for the Dark Robe. The drop rate is closer to 10% though. As for the Spellsurge Robe, you have to make it. The recipe is:

Spellsurge Robe (half MP cost)
Sage’s Robe + Angel’s Robe + Dark Robe + Disciple’s Brand

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

Those NPCs never do move. It was one of those things I thought I might go back to, but never did.

Onyu is the region you were talking about where you found a really powerful monster. I'd recommend you take on Yuria first (unlocked with that shard you just got) so that you don't have to grind any to beat that boss.

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

The Wind Shard you is in the Abandoned Caverns (formerly the Thief's Den in past time) in Esrarch Present.

Are you sure you are going to the right area? There are no NPCs blocking entrance to the cave, but there are some inside that won't let you go in a door behind them. You don't need to go past any door though, there is a stairwell leading down in the northwest corner of the map that takes you to the shard. The shard is in the only chest you can get to. :)

Where can I get magic crest? I would like to attempt all relic techniques what is best for me.

You can only obtain one of the relic techniques. If you embark on a quest you are bound to it unless you pay a 5000 gold penalty to get out of it (and subsequently surrender all progress).

As for which technique is best, they all have their uses. It's interesting that Varn and Rebel (above) lean towards Surge/Arcane Benison. In terms of overall utility and damage power across turns they are active, they are probably the best choice.

However, Thor's Blade (Aldain) can do upwards of 2k damage and blind the foe it hits, so it does have good burst damage. Also, Olian's Runic Aurora can't be counted out. It does extreme holy damage (blowing away dark based enemies) to all foes and it's MP cost isn't too terribly high. Runic Aurora ulimately ends up being the best for grinding post game since the foes of Excate are dark based and with Runic Aurora, you can pretty much annihilate the enemy team in one turn.

For Magic Crest, I assume you mean Mystic Crest for Oruba? The hint the mystic gave was "a temple formerly sealed by black magic." Each crest is located in a dungeon you've visited in the past. Can you think of any dungeon across all regions that was originally sealed? That you had to complete some tasks in order to open it up? Where you fought a particularly dark creature? :)

The Illae NM (Cyrr or something I think) is right outside the town, right? I swear that's where I remember fighting it, and fairly frequently at that, but now I can't find it.

geeze, I am having the worst of luck finding some of the NMs...I've gained about three or four levels in the Thief cave and haven't seen a single NM. Feels like the encounter rates for some of them are a little off.

That's where you find him. :)

Might just be getting a tad unlucky! The encounter rate outside of town is luckily pretty high though.

@Gmayhem12:
Have you installed the font, PressStart2P, that came with the game?

Had to give up trying to get a Tempest Sash or two (or three!) from the NM in Cardial Cave...spent so much time in there and only ever saw two of the monsters, an no luck with either of them. On the plus side, now I'm level 10 in Yardrick.

Yeah, that NM can be a little rare! Pretty cool to see you're on your second playthrough! Have fun. :)

What'd you think of the final battle?
