I prefer evil Alice, don't you?

EDIT:
And colour!

Yeah, I initially had issues with the tree and then just pushed on with it. I need to learn to scrap it when it isn't working out properly.
I'm going to give that topic Ocean linked a once over (great topic Ocean, many thanks for that ^_^) and see what I can learn from the comments/crits posted there. I have to keep in mind what kind of style I'm going for in the mean time, though...
I can sympathize with the RMXP pixellers for only doing 5 different trees now.

EDIT: Scene with updated trees:

And a from-scratch sprite to make it complete (doesn't look too bad...)

@Chaos: I wish! Is that from the palette I used? I actually created that from scratch and didn't notice the similarity to Ocean's until I compiled it, haha.

@Feldschlacht IV: I haven't played FF6, so I'm just going to say they look awesome. Is there a slope before the tent? Maybe you should use a different ground pattern to define it properly. If not, I'm not sure why it looks like that, it might be just me =/.

Making –BELIEVABLE- Dialogue (edited version 3.0!).

@NB: I also said at the beginning of the article how I believed my methods to be unorthodox. People probably have a different method of creating dialogue/characterization, I'm just posting my own.
I also mentioned listening to other people speaking and trying to replicate it, which I do believe is a very good method of creating dialogue, however I'm assuming that while a person is in the middle of creating their game they don't exactly want to bounce up and find a couple of people talking and listen in.
Personally I'd find that sort of creepy.
@Ark: No. It was written while I was writing this tutorial.

THAT'S NOT A SCREENSHOT, KYRSTY!

Not yet, at least =P (Mock-up made in MS Paint). Just making a bunch of different tileset stuff because I wanna do a game with completely original graphics.
I used Ocean's tutorial for the tree because I can't sprite trees. I can't draw trees either -.-.

No, I draw guidelines. Before I draw linework I generally draw an outline of the anatomy, especially when drawing fingers, female chests, etc. I just do them very lightly and I have a very good eraser. For the Kumo picture I spent about 20 minutes drawing guidelines for the arms, hehe =/. That was one of the first things I learnt when drawing- don't start drawing the clothing first, do an outline of your figure otherwise you'll have difficulty defining how the clothing folds, etc.

Making –BELIEVABLE- Dialogue (edited version 3.0!).

Yeah, I suppose I really shouldn't describe Blank as a jerk, but I've played with his character for a very long time and through dialogue and discussions I've come to describe him as that. It's really unacceptable of me to write something like that, though. I'll go over this article fully soon and revise what I was trying to say.

And I'm not trying to encourage stereotypes, per say, I would like to think I'm encouraging a writer to embellish the way they describe their character. Giving a word connotations, so to speak. Most of the time, character profiles consist of about four words describing the characters personality. I'm trying to emphasize that characters need to display these traits in their dialogue.

You know, I find it really difficult to draw breasts, especially the ones generally found in anime. I prefer drawing my lovable bishies and cute male teens. Maybe that comes with having breasts myself =P.

But, since I'm doing an FF Parody with Tifa in it I have to take what I've got and run with it.

I think it's a bit pale, but I generally don't do pencil sketches full-on like the Leon one- I do them as a base, scan them, then digitally do the lineart/colour.

I hate that arm.

My friend suggested a chainsaw but I don't think that really fits the concept.

I'm unsure how I'd get it to look any other way. I was going for the idea that he has both hands in fists because he's thinking of a bad memory or some such.

And I see what you mean by gesture drawings now. When undertaking a difficult pose I'll start off with a small thumbnail then gradually work on larger figures to get the pose down right, but that's generally only if the pose is a very difficult pose that I haven't drawn before.

Making –BELIEVABLE- Dialogue (edited version 3.0!).

@ Craze: Most of my dialogue relates to what is happening around them during conversations. I probably should've mentioned that =/. Might update later with a paragraph on minding the characters surroundings.

@captainregal: I hope so too ^_^.
