I agree in many ways. There is a clear lack of gameplay in the far too thick story segments. The gameplay also needs a lot of improvement. Back in 2009 I was far more interested in writing rather than actual game mechanics.
Unfortunately fixing it's issues wouldn't be possible without remaking the entire game and I think the time is better spend with translating some more of my stuff. :)

To be honest, there is a lot worth improving. Mapping, game mechanics and the minigame sequences in gerneral and so on. It was kept quite rudimentary because it was created within a very short timelimit (about 2 weeks).
I won't fix it though. It was never meant to be a masterpiece anyway and I already got other stuff in my sleeve.

Indeed.
Sadly the RPG Maker has never been much of an action orientated plattform though. I consider even the new ones with scripts as unsadisfying in terms of action combat systems.
But I heard Enterbrain tryed to create an engine like that with the "IG Maker". Yet I haven't seen much games of it.
