Max: Well it's just that I have heard that more than I want to hear it (and again, I am balancing him based on the idea everyone grabs the cornet and the mask--I haven't actually tried him WITHOUT getting those two items or just not using them, but if you didn't get it, you're making Snowe out to be a jerk who doesn't say bye to his people before he leaves to go die in the snow). You would benefit from having the mask for sure. The cornet helps lessen his regular all-attack so you can cut that down. Blizzard he is supposed to do less than Ice in the beginning (until you get him down to 20% HP and then he'll be spamming it). But yeah, even though you've only got a game over twice, it leaves me thinking in terms of how you are doing compared to other complaints/comments I have gotten.

But in short, when I have beta-testers go through, I'll make sure they tell me frankly about how hard my bosses are (I balance my bosses with the question: "did I die when I was being smart (using my skills right, debuffing, buffing right, etc)? No? Then it's balanced for me") and then think about if I'm making them too hard. Because there are a few people who aren't good at fighting the bird (one of my beta-testers just couldn't do it, but another said as soon as she figured out what to do, she was able to win).

Cozzer: If you talk to Richard and Vera before you leave, they tell you to grab them. Personally I wonder if it's my duty to cater to players who didn't explore when I give them multiple things to be on the look out for (you can dust your kingdom's dust laden dishes, that should be hinting at you can explore quite a bit and shouldn't skip over exploring). I don't want to hold the players' hands when playing my game. After the demo ends and after a small dungeon, you can always grab Snowe's skills from the castle again. And I never put the skills in a place that can never be reached again (and if I do, I make sure if you miss it, they do appear elsewhere). One thing I may do is have Richard flat out tell STOP you from leaving Sabine if you've forgotten your skills.

In addition, having two random fire spellbooks floating around the tower just seems odd. Astra nor Hiante have any use for them! D: But yeah, I'll definitely take your suggestion to heart and hammer it into the players' heads NOT to forget them and even going so far as to make Richard stop you from leaving if you did forget them. I figure since it is the first spells you get, perhaps that is a good idea. Players may not be accustomed to having to look for their skills (something I probably should have thought of more) so having it so that you can't forget Snowe's first two may be far more helpful than your adviser reminding you only if you talk to him and so on and so forth.

Are you guys good equipped against being frozen? Astra has the cloak by default, you can find a cloak in the tower and some mittens! Make sure Snowe and Hiante has at least one of those equipped.

Snowe should also have both his skills (Flame I and Cure I) and should be delegated to doing Cure I if someone needs it or just blasting the bird with Flame I. Astra should have Recover from her cloak (if not, reequip the cloak to make it show up because of the bug), and have her do that when she needs to, otherwise use her Swift Slash. Hiante should be the one debuffing the boss with the Cornet and Mask and doing whatever else needs to be done in between (he's not the most useful in the fight except he's fast). And then poisoning the bird with the skill from Erio's Spare Suit (which Snowe should have equipped) will help to keep the boss getting harmed even if you have to have a turn where everyone is healing or revive herbing people.

Since the bird starts to use blizzard more when his HP is low (like below 20%), by then you should have Astra focus on the healing because she can heal everyone (and it's almost guaranteed her IP gauge will be filled back up so she can use it) and have Snowe keep up the Flame I attacks and Hiante should continue doing whatever you made him do.

Level 4 are the levels I balanced that boss at, even though he still packs a punch (I mean, he's guarding the exit of the Forest, you weren't supposed to come out of the forest, I think he's more than a bit pissed!). I think I will tweak him a bit if you guys still have trouble. It's really hard to determine that though--some people only need to get thrashed around once before they get the hang of it, but others continually have trouble. And some people get it right the first time. @_@ Though I don't actually use the poison strategy because I really forgot I made him prone to getting poisoned.

RMVX Game Over Crash

Have you looked for any undisposed windows? That's what causes the RGSS2 player crashing in my game (and in most games I find where they have an RGSS2 error). Or have you tried taking out all your new scripts and putting them back in one at a time and seeing which script it is that sets off the crashing?

Star Stealing Prince Review

I think the Mask would have helped (cause it brings down magic which is what the bird smacks you with--he'll also do blizzard a lot more when he's almost dead! Kinda like he's panicking and really wants to be rid of you!)--one of the kids gives it to you (Joshua or Trillby I think), but yeah, I think I will. I'll mess with him to be a little more weak against states too. Like putting him to sleep, that would be a good one. Cause then you have a turn to heal! But I do balance a lot of bosses keeping in mind that you did get both the Cornet and the Mask from the kids because they really do help.

Thanks for the feedback! :)

Oh, also try poisoning him. He's really prone to getting poisoned.

;_; Did you use the Child's Cornet and the Scary Mask? They help a lot. In fact, most bosses they are terribly helpful and I assume you got them when I balance. Because your people love you!

Star Stealing Prince Review

^ And nope! That one you get there from walking into the right wall. Look below because you edited that as I was posting! XD

Looks like that if you flipped the switch when some weirdo tried to attack you?

The door that leads there SHOULD be the third door up!

Star Stealing Prince Review

Max: Do you remember the room with the holes in the floor (supposed to be spikes, but since most people make the spikes go away before getting to that room, they just appear to be random holes in the ground (I've flipped the order of the rooms but I may make a different puzzle for that now)) there is a secret passage to get an item (Revive Herb in a goodie bag) and then one where you can go further north where you can get "Astra's key" and a monster. That key unlocks the door that you need to open to proceed. Go left of the holes in the floor and walk through the wall. That should be it unless you mean another door (there is a door at the very very top that is a side door--turn on the arrows to see the arrow for it, if that's what you're missing). Maybe since that's a for-sure get, I should add a carpet extending into the wall to give players a hit.

NewBlack: I should make an estimate but I'm really terrible at keeping them! I only have 2 more dungeon-y areas to balance (plus two bosses and the final boss) so I'm actually quite close! I definitely work at least a half hour to an hour a day (if I have work that day, it's a half hour, if not, I have no social life so I work on it throughout the day when I have a day off)! I don't want to put a date because I'm really worried about something bad happening if I do make a date. Such as my health taking me down, beta-testers being slower than my estimate (which is totally okay, but if I make a date that would mean me having to tell them to have it done by this date and that's not good if I want it thoroughly tested), et cetera. I used to say "if it's not out by December something's wrong" but I actually got a job so that saying is no longer accurate. I figure saying "if it's not out by the end of February, something's wrong" I think that'd be a safe guess.

Yeah it's there, Emmy! I think I'll probably have Snowe mention "huh, did the candles change?" when you flip the switch and walk out the first time to make it even more obvious. I use lighting like nobody's business so maybe it was just lost.

Star Stealing Prince

So very kind Max! And I noticed in the demo you said you were stuck--you can either answer there or here, but where are you stuck? I would like to help you out so you can attest whether my boss is too hard or too easy! :D

Star Stealing Prince Review

Aww, you're so sweet! I'm sorry that you're stuck actually and sorry that bugs happened! I have fixed them for the final version of the game, I just haven't really had time to update the demo because I've been trying to finish haha. The game was bugging out the skill because at times if you hover over to disequip the item (like go to select a blank spot) the game tries it without the weapon being equipped. But the script for the skill didn't realize the game did this so you could potentially learn a skill from an armor without actually equipping said armor/weapon. Oops! Sorry about that!

The bug for the game crashing has to do with an undisposed window. I have fixed that, just every time you go into your item part of the menu, save. That's what makes a window not dispose and too many of those makes the game crash! I'm sorry that slipped by! ;_; (It took me FOREVER to pin it down too, so hopefully that's the only one @__@).

As for the story comments, I don't think I've read Stardust! And hopefully you find the creepiness appearing more and more in the full game (it's actually there a lot in the demo if you know where to look!).

And for the tower, what are you having trouble with? Is it the doors all being locked? The three switches open the doors--just turn them on and off and certain doors will unlock (doors having candles above them that are lit when they are open but not lit when they are locked). I think I should put a little note somewhere in the tower to mention that! I didn't think it'd be that hard to figure out. :< Unless it's something else and if so, let me know! Remember, there are hidden passages so feel free to run Snowe into walls. He won't mind. He has a flat nose.
